This happens to be the first steak N shake I ever visited around 15 years ago. We were seated quickly & got our orders in. I usually just get a grilled cheese sandwich and the fries. I always either get a birthday cake shake or, now that it's seasonal, the red velvet shake when it's available. These have always been my favorite fries at any fast food place. I usually pay with the steak N shake app, this time I received $2 off for usuing the app & with this purchase I received $5 off my next purchase as well. Worst experience at a S n S ever! After standing for 5 minutes server shouted we could sit anywhere. She explained they were having a tough night because of new workers. We ordered shakes and burgers. Our shakes came out right away but in to go cups instead of the usual glasses. We sat for an hour.:: no burgers and no updates provided. We watched two tables of customers leave. Our server shouted at customers entering that it would take an hour to get their food. Between shouting at customers and shouting at the kitchen help it was an unpleasant and stressful experience. We looked in the kitchen and our food was no where in sight so we left. This place doesn't deserve a second chance or your business. Don't go there. read more

Inexpensive quick meal but bad service and the tables and seats were not wiped down well. Here we are over two years later and nothing has changed. A few weeks ago they forgot part of my order. They expected me to drive back to pick up the missing items. Don't go late in the evening customer service is terrible sometimes. Have had good luck during the day. When the younger people are working they are constantly on their phones and not busting tables or running food and drinks. Also had to wait for a very long time for someone to come to the register. We have been to this Steak n Shake on several occasions because it's convenient location coming home from St Louis. Every time the service gets worse. Went in Sunday night a little after midnight. Drive-up had cars but dining room had maybe 6 tables and most of them were eating or was finished. Long wait time to be seated, then was never waited on!! One waitress was on her phone and one was eating while she was working( she was the one that seated us ) a third waitress seemed frazzled. I can understand this happens occasionally but this is the 2nd time we were not waited on. Rude servers and very poor management!! read more

My husband just went up to steak n shake to order off the 2 for 3 menu. He asked for the mushroom burger and chicken fingers. He then ordered a chocolate shake. The employee did NOT inform him that the mushroom burger was not on the 2 for 3 menu anymore. His total ended up being over 12 dollars. That's ridiculous. Employees need to start listening to customers orders. He should have been told right away before the order went in of the change. On top of that he was not given a receipt. The worst experience I've ever had at a steak n' shake... and that's saying something. Sat there for 40 minutes after the waitress took our order and then she came back to say that our order somehow "got lost in the system" and asked if we still wanted to have our order put in. We opted to leave since there was a table there who got there before us still without food. There was no one running the grill for a solid 10 minutes. People had been waiting to get sat and we warned them as we left. Will not return to this location. It's hard to choose steak n' shake when I continue to have bad experiences over and over again. Disgusting! They sat us at a dirty table it was disgusting. Even after our waiter was told not to sit is there she sat there anyway by simply saying it doesn't look dirty to me the table was very disgusting and there was stuff all over the chairs. We stopped at this location for dinner. The place was about half full. Our server was a very nice woman and she gave us fantastic service. Our service was what garnered the fourth star. The wait time was lloooonnnggg. When the food got there we are it very quickly because we were starving. Is it the best burger out there?? No. However it's the BEST hamburger and fries for $4 out there. I ordered the original double with mayo, lettuce and pickles. The meat and the bun were fresh. I love their fries. They are small and thin. It was all tasty. I just wish the wait time wasn't so long. read more

Our server tonight was awesome! It's Halloween night and he is dressed up as buddy holly! Love it! The food is good, it got cold fast however. We got there and waited for a server for about 15 minutes. one of the waitresses saw us and did not get to us but had people who came after us orders done and drinks out. my friend was so thirsty she had to take an empty tables drink. we waited so long my special needs friend started drooling all over her shirt. finally a very sweet and well mannered waitress, Caroline, came to the rescue! she had very good service and was quick with everything and quite funny if i do say so myself. the other waitress (red hair pony tail and very skinny) was very rude and giving us dirty looks. someone else who we were with came to grab a bib for the special needs girl as her clothes were drenched with drool. she then told us "you don't need the f****" bib" and became very angry. she refused to let us have the bib because we weren't babies. Steak 'n Shake always has good food, but this particular one has the worst service staff. Our waitress had maybe two tables and was flustered to the point where she forgot almost everything. I walked out with my family about 4 months ago cause we were sat for 25mins and no one even came by to take our drink order. Decided to give them another chance but they failed horribly. They were nice however and no one was rude. It was just a poor performance once again. Ended up taking our food home cause we waited almost an hour to get what we ordered. My wife's chicken sandwich was undercooked, mine and my daughters burgers tasted like char and salt. My other daughters grilled cheese was pretty good tho. Would have called to complain and I know they would have offered a remake on our dinner, but I don't trust it would be any better.
