I see the reviews are hit and miss but I'm so glad this location was a hit when I recently visited! This was my first time ordering a sandwich and wasn't sure what to get at first. I finally settled on the Turkey Cheddar Sandwich and fell in love. Lol! The meat and veggies were fresh and not wilted, the red onions were crisp and not bitter, the white cheddar was nice and sharp, and the pickle spear was delicious. Since Panera originates from STL and only goes by St. Louis Bread Co. in this area, I obviously had to visit one while I was passing through STL! It is the exact same interior decor and menu as any other Panera, so not much to say here other than that LOL! I am not a local and was passing by so I got a Turkey BLT avocado sandwich meal, a drink and a blueberry scone. They forget my blueberry scone and I had to go back inside and ask the cashier for it. The manager acknowledged their mistake and told me they had swap my sandwich with someone else by mistake. She said she cannot reimburse my credit card (which I don't know why? As far as I know if you have a system to charge a credit card, you have the capacity to do a refund), but she offered to send me a voucher to reimburse me. I didn't want to make it hard so I agreed and gave her my address. When I received the voucher I didn't know wether this was a joke or not. She had sent me a voucher for a free drink!?! I paid over $11 for that sandwich alone and she sends me a voucher for a drink not to exceed $6 !?! This is not only ridiculous, it's not far from conning people. I tried to call them 5 times already but no one picked up. I live 6 hrs away so going confronting that manager is not doable, but I will be traveling down that way again soon, and yes, I will go in. They told my husband we could order some soup but nothing else -- no sandwiches. If your hours say 9 PM closing, that means 9 PM -- not 8:30 or whenever you decide you'd like to go home so throw everything out. Plus, there was no one at the register. Stopped in this evening to pick up a friends order. I tried to order soup on the app and it stated they were sold out. I went in with my friend and asked if they had the soup I was interested in. This was not his fault, and just kept going. All while I am standing there. He did not know when to stop. First and foremost, you NEVER talk about any customer in front of other customers, PERIOD! First rule in customer service, which he so highly lacks in. Second of all, everyone makes mistakes. We are only human. Had he said something to me nicely, like I apologize, I meant there was no more soup or anything, I would have kindly apologized back for my mistake as well. Like most other people, I love Panera and where this one was located was perfect, it is a short drive to and from the Double Tree location. We arrived about an Hour until closing so we thought we were good, but we were soon to realize we were wrong. When we started looking at the menu, the receptionist started getting flustered and asked for our orders. I decided to order the broccoli and cheddar bread bowl, my favorite soup. She then asked the chef is they had any. This was a little disheartening. Then after all if my family ordered (3), she asked if they had the most important ingredients in all of the food, for example she asked if they had cheese for the Macaroni and cheese. The food came in early and quick which I thought was a plus, but it turns out my bread was stale, and was hard to bite. I love Panera Bread and I have had good and bad experiences but really was not happy with my visit the last 2 times here. I travel for my job so depend on getting good salads and Panera and St Louis Bread is where I go. First night in town I ordered the Cobb salad and get to the hotel no avacodo, no bacon and the salad bowl was half full. Ok so tried again tonight. Made a point of telling them what was missing , no problem. Opened the salad, no chicken, I asked for an apple, because the bread was stale, the night before, no apple, again a dried out pc of bread. How does that happen when you are busy ? I will not judge other Panera Breads by this one but probably won't go back here . I think management is lacking. read more

I go to Panera frequently back in Baltimore and this is basically the same exact place. Same menu! Parking lot was dirty - although this shouldn't reflect the restaurant, but moreso the nasty customers. Upon entering, the place smelled bad - like a dirty pad/diaper. Ordered anyway. My husband and I both ordered fontega chicken sandwiches. The basil is the best part of the sandwich, but it is sometimes forgotten - so my husband even made sure to request that it is definitely added to his sandwich and he was told yes. You've seen one Panera, you've seen them all. I remember when "Panera" was only called "St Louis Bread Company." When one came to suburban Chicago in 1995 or so, it was a breath of fresh air in the semi-fast food scene. Pumpkin muffins all year round-----wow! I'm glad it's around all these years later. However, the novelty has long worn off. It's still a dependable place, don't get me wrong. I'm sure I get something from there, either at home or work, once a week. But, the thrill is gone. We are big fans of Panera and been to many locations. This one is consistently dirty. Tables and floor not clean, restrooms questionable, etc. They are usually out of something, either bread or bagels or both. The bread they did have was dry and stale. They have tips jars out for the employees, however keep in mind you have to order at the counter, pick up food when it is ready, get your own drinks, and then clean off your table when done. Come on Panera you have good food, pay your employees a decent wage and get the restaurant cleaned up. read more

What can I say? I'm a Panera fan in general, and this location is where my husband and I eat on the occasional event that I come all the way to Collinsville to meet him for dinner before he runs back to more teaching duties. The staff is always friendly and the orders fulfilled as I would expect. Sometimes they seem a little slow to wipe down tables, but since they never seem to be overly busy, we've never had a hard time getting a table we prefer. I'm giving them 2 stars, instead of 4-5, because the management needs to act quickly on a problem which can directly impact their business negatively if not addressed. (The food and service are great, BTW). A group of us agreed to gather for a meet & greet here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. 4 cars came, more might have left due to...no parking spaces left. Let me explain. When I arrived, around 8:45, I quickly noticed only 2 non-handicapped parking places left and those two were too cramped for my car to park (adjacent cars parked crooked). At first this didn't surprise me as the Edwardsville location is always full on Saturday morning. Anyway, I almost left but one of our party came walking out to our car and told me to park in the back. I drove around to the back where he was parked and we directed 2 more cars to park back there until it was full. When I went inside, I was shocked to see the place less than half full! Plenty of tables and no wait to order. On a Saturday morning? As I mused out-loud as to this conundrum, a patron told me that many of the cars parked out front were NOT customers but car-poolers riding to St. Louis. This patron also said that she had mentioned it to the manager in the past but the manager said "There is nothing I can do about it." Seriously? You will let non-customers take up spaces and drive away potential paying customers because you don't want to hurt their feelings? I doubt we'll plan a meeting here again. The only reason I keep coming here is that it's one of the only healthy options by my office. The staff is petulant and non-apologetic when they mess up. There is never enough parking at lunchtime. They consistently mess up orders - I've gotten a tomato & mozzarella salad that had cilantro instead of basil! Most recently, their credit card machine didn't work for the drive-thru, so I had to go inside to pick up my order because I could pay with a credit card there...WTH? read more

Panera Bread is a great alternative to your normal fast food joint. They have great sandwiches, soups and salads; but don't forget their breads, bagels, pastries and muffins. My wife and I eat here probably at least once a week. We enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner from Panera Bread. I've not had anything that I didn't enjoy. The one thing they could improve is their coffee. While their coffee is good, it doesn't compare to other places that specialize in coffee. read more
