Don't know what other people are talking about when they say it took forever to get served. We came in for a late night tasty burger and got it served to the table within five minutes of ordering it. The Oreo shake was delicious, the fries were crispy and hot and even got a salad as a side. Had a coupon so got a burger two sides and a shake for six bucks. Can't beat that! Steak & Shake (3000 Old Boynton Rd, Boynton Bch, FL 33436) 7/22/28 visit For 2 sandwiches & 2 fries.... I was asked to pull forward with no one behind us so they look good on their delivery time (they actually said told us this was the reason - not that I didn't already know that). I reluctantly pulled up. 20 mins later after being forgotten about- I pull backwards to the window since there were still no customers behind me. My boyfriend walked inside to talk to them. In the mean time, i finally received my order with cold fries. Pulled back to the window AGAIN & requested hot fries. By boyfriend who was still inside, saw the employee at the drive thru window take my fries and throw them back into fryer. When he ask the guy inside about it, the employee told him "management trained them - that as long as the fries had not been sitting there more than 30 MINUTES - they could recook them". REALLY????? I finally got 2 new fries and they were amazing enough still cold. So I checked my burgers - yep- COLD. I gave everything back and asked her to make sure the money went back on my boyfriend's Steak & Shake card. My boyfriend as told "there was NO MANAGER ON DUTY (which is against Department of Agriculture regulation and can be sited and shut down for) and he would have to wait till they checked all the other customers out, took other customers orders and seated others". After an additional 15 minutes, since there was no manager in duty, an employee gave him money out of her pocket and said Steak & Shake would pay her back if she wrote a receipt (BECAUSE WE DIDN'T EVEN GET ONE). Though I guess we should feel grateful that she gave us money back at all, it was only done to make us go away. Due to the attitude of the staff - I regretfully can't help but wonder how much she asked to be reimbursed for since there was no supposed receipt? I called Corporate while I was waiting (yes they actually take customer service calls at 2:00 a.m. 317-633-4100) After I explained everything to customer service - She apologized, but when I asked what would happen - she said it would go to their resolution team. I asked if I would get a call back and I was told she doesn't know. AGAIN.... REALLY? AND -this isn't the 1st time this has happened to us at this location BUT IT WILL BE THE LAST! If the manager doesn't require his employees to be honest about the amount of time it takes to get food to a customers , he is doing an injustice to customers, his staff, himself and the entire company because he can not show that he needs assistance to get the job done correctly either by hiring better employees or training them correctly. Shift, Store and upper manager should care more about doing the right thing for the BIG PICTURE. We received an email apologizing but said nothing about reaching back out to us. Don't bother calling corporate and trying to reach operator to speak with someone (other than the customer service that is employeed to do nothing but appease you and get you off the phone much like the restaurant staff). The operator phone # at corporate rings until you are disconnected. I tried 12 times. Trust me - I won't give up and it will be reported to newspapers, radio, tv and all social media. If you end up calling back to speak with a complaint line, they refuse to forward the call to a supervisor and repeat over and over again a scripted response...." again ma'am I apologize but this complaint has been given to someone to be reviewed" I'm hope people stop excepting this as "exceptable" and Do something about it. I called Steak & Shake Customer Service number again the next day from the number I provided the night before . I was told by Customer service rep that I specifically ask to not be called by corporate (then why would I have provided my personal number for the report ?) On top of all that - I had someone from a different review site who had the nerve to rsvp to my review saying "maybe you quit being lazy and get out of your freaking car and go in to order". And he should know it's only worse when you go inside because they "SUPPOSEDLY" care more about getting the order delivered quickly at the drive thru more so than if you actually do spend you time going in. We've dined here quite a bit and have always found the food fresh, cooked to order and served quickly. They just can't seem to get the chili temperature hot enough so ask them to make sure it's HOT, HOT HOT when you order or they'll be taking it back for a nuke job. I am giving MINUS Stars because the management is so bad at that location. We went for a nice lunch and had nothing like it. The waitresses were all standing around talking, and it took 10 minutes to get a waitress to come to our table. She brought a dirty coffee cup and then argued with me that it wasn't dirty when I asked for another one. When we told the manager we were canceling our order and leaving, he was nasty with me. The food here is great!!! Only problem is you cannot enjoy your food because they keep it so cold (for the workers) I am sure that your teeth literally chatter. I ask for the manager to see if they could adjust and her attitude was horrible. I hav even called your headquarters and was told they were sendling someone out to remedy situation......but we took friends there Sat. Aug. 26th and no change at all. If it were for the drive through I'd give it 3-4 stars. I am currently waiting for food. I came in a little past 5 am. When I came in I couldn't find anyone who seemed to be working. There was one guy by the window who was passed out but wasn't wearing the uniform. When I moved to the very back I saw a man in uniform sleeping with ear phones in. I could barely get his attention. He seemed baffled ( probably because I alarmed him) and slightly annoyed that I needed a menu. The cook came out at this point. She was unfriendly and when asked for a menu, it was dropped of carelessly, even forcefully, in the middle of my table. The foods come out and isn't bad. I'm slightly paranoid that it's been spit in, haven't seen anything suspicious yet. I want another cup of coffee, there's no one to be seen. read more

Horrible. Went through the drive-thru the girl seems so disinterested with being bothered I wish I didn't give her my money. After sitting there waiting for almost 20 minutes for my food I finally receive it. Because of the character bagging my food I decided to check before leaving. Realized part of my order was forgotten I go back in and the manager was very pleasant I also at that time took a look around to see if maybe they were understaffed and that was the reason for the problem but I saw servers standing around joking. After leaving I realize there was no Cutlery given and the ketchup was covered in syrup stuck together. Worst experience I've ever had at a Steak n Shake. read more

I entered the drive through line at 10:45PM and just got to the front to get my food at 11:25. Absolutely ridiculous! We were trapped with no way to get out of the line. What is the point of a drive through that doesn't move and takes 45 minutes? I check my bag and the order was wrong. I go inside to ask about the order and I get attitude from an employee. I say, I just waited for 45 minutes and my order is wrong. She goes, well we have a big table inside so our focus is just on them tonight. Since I'm from the DC area, I've never heard of Steak N Shake, but my friend from Delray swore it was good! I ordered a hot dog and fries. The hot dog was standard (good enough for fast food), but the fries were terrible. They are these small, thin little straws. Blech. I don't expect 5 star service at 5:30 in the morning (let's get real - they do not want to be working at that hour) but the guy that helped me in the drive through was terrible. He would tell us he's ready for our order and as soon as we started, he would tell us to hold on every second. It literally took 15 minutes to take our order that wasn't even that big. Had a craving for a burger and shake today, so I decided to give this location a try since I'm new to the area. Very disappointing!! The hamburger was swimming in grease to the point of making the buns soggy. The fries were cold and stale, but I was already on my way and didn't have time to turn back and return them. When I tried to microwave them a few minutes later, they tasted even worse -- like warmed up sticks, with about the same consistency. The chocolate shake was the only bright spot (minus the 2 inches of whipped cream). Won't go here again!! read more

Awful awful service. Especially night manager Hilda. I've never had this horrible type of service in my entire life and I'm 38 years of age. I went there with a group of my girlfriends we are adults and the food took a while. At the end our shakes took at least 25 to 30 minutes to make. Or shakes were watery and the girl checking us out couldn't add up our bill correctly .......we waited another 30 minutes at the cash register. The manager was not responsive to us. Love this place. Everytime we visit Delray we come here. Food and service is also better than other Steak and Shakes we've experienced.

I love the food and specially the milkshakes. But at this location the drive thru service is horrible. Every time I ask for a milkshake they give me a cup that's 3/4 full. While they charge you full price for the milkshakes they don't bother to fill it up. I'm highly disappointed and they need to hire better employees. read more

If you want your meal to be correct, taste good and have the employees care about your business and making your food correct....Definitely choose somewhere else to eat, because you won't get any of that from the Delray Beach Steak n' Shake. My order was incorrect, my meal was ruined and awful. I contacted the corporate offices and I was basically totally blown off. I received a form letter, it read like something that had absolutely NO thought put into it. I was never contacted by management, nothing was done for my meal that was ruined by their employees. I will never go back and waste my money at Steak n' Shake. They truly don't care about customers having a good experience, after they get your money they are done with you.
