I stopped by one morning around 11 o'clock and ordered a steak burger with fries. After getting back home I went through the drive-thru, the fries seem like they had been yesterday's fries. I called the number on the back and I got some I guess corporate number for doing a review. They took my information and said they would have the manager call me that was on a Friday Thursday or Friday I think. That following Sunday someone call but didn't leave a message and after checking I found out it was from Steak and Shake this I guess the store manager. He never called back again and I finally called the number and it must have been at his home and evidently his son answered and put me on hold forever so I just finally hung up. I guess he's not concerned about his customer service but I know I will never purchase anything at that Steak and Shake on Bill Harp Road in Douglasville ever again! read more

Pulled in the drive-thru for a quick snack. Wrong!!!!! Took over 30 minutes to get a "Number 1". The drive-thru is designed so that once you enter you cannot leave. You are stuck with bad service matter how long it takes. Once I got to the window I was asked "What did you have". I said a number one. Was told "I don't know what that is. I only know but the description". Wow, even McDonands can figure out the drive-thru. Learn how to park the car if it takes more than ten minutes. Ridiculous. To top this off, the dining room was empty. Glad they weren't busy I would have needed a sleeping bag. Come on Steak n' Shake. You are better than this. I don't know what it is about this restaurant, but it is one of the very few steak n shakes I don't like. I've eaten here twice, and it has been painfully slow every time to get our food. Additionally, the waiters are inattentive in the extreme. I don't blame them for the slow food, that's on the kitchen. But bringing the food late without any silverware? That's a waitstaff issue. We never go in, we always pick up through the drive through. Good food, good prices. It takes a little longer than I would like but patience is a virtue. We love the parmesan herb fries but they have other varieties such as salt and vinegar. Good shakes too, they can work on variety but they are tasty. read more

Terrible experiences occur here. I'm frustrated by the lack of attention to detail by this chains drive through window. Not on one occasion but multiple times. They consistently overlook details to orders, make meals wrong and leave things off of the order. I'm sitting in their parking lot contemplating going back in for a second time to try and rectify the order, but I think it's time to write a review and attempt to eat my now cold (and completely wrong order.) I would give them negative stars if I could. We waited for the food for over an hour and EVERYTHING was wrong. All that aside, the customer service was the worst. No apology, no offer to make it right and no consideration for any customers. I watched several people wait to be seated and have to leave. -manager berates employees in front of everyone, will call them over to the unsatisfied customer to berate them. to unsatisfied customers, maybe this is fulfilling if youre an asshole. as i am not one, it just made the environment very uncomfortable. - took 10-15 min for anyone to even take our drink orders. servers passed by us constantly. it was 11pm and pretty busy but it shouldnt have taken that long to be seen. - i only saw server when he came to take our order, and drop off our things. i placed a shake order to go and never saw him again. had to go up to register to pay for meal. one shake was sitting there for 20 min, one shake was put in incorrectly and also skipped over. - manager is currently yelling at customers and causing a scene. customers were unruly but this isnt how a manager should handle things. -still waiting on my shakes as i type this food is good but not worth this quality of service. if you get drive thru be prepared to wait 20-30 min in the line. this place is miserable. read more

First time eatng here. The food wasn't bad for the price. We decided to eat in the restaurant about 10.00pm on a Saturday. Don't know if a manager was on duty at that time, but one of the workers brought their daughter to work with them. She was very unruly, running around and taking tips off of tables. I don't have a problem if you didn't have a sitter,, but PLEASE may sure your child is well behaved. Steak n Shake has a variety of meals under $4 which I love. You get a burger and fries in that meal and their parm herb fries are delicious. Went to this location 3 weeks ago. This location has pretty lousy service and incompetent management. The workers I observed in the kitchen seemed to not have a sense of urgency to get food out in a timely manner and it seems there is very little attention to the cleanliness in the dining room. I visited my local steak in shake in search of fries and a good milkshake. When I arrived I noticed a liquid dripping from the ceiling. My friend ordered a cookie dough milkshake and received a peanut butter. She is severely allergic. When my food arrived I noticed that I had a brown squishy substance in my grilled cheese. This was our first time coming here since it's been in Douglasville. I wasn't that impressed and I'm not sure that I'll go back. My husband ordered a salad without meat it was actually a big salad and it was fresh. My children ordered something off the kids menu with milkshakes. Their food was just ok and their milkshakes weren't thick as Steak n Shake used to make them. Or what I know them to be. I on the other hand ordered a turkey bacon sandwich with fries. I have eaten at several steak n shakes in my time. One of my favorite burger/shake spots. This visit was complete garbage. They are drive through only which was fine but as we drove through the parking lot the inside looked like a scene off the walking dead. It looked disgusting- very dirty. Tables turned upside down in no particular order, fogged windows, chairs scattered all over the room, looking like they were just thrown all over. Looking past that, we still bravely chose to order and boy was that a mistake. The garlic burger was so covered in grease but was missing the actual thing that makes that particular burger--The garlic sauce!! The fries had not an ounce of salt on them making them extremely bland and the lemonade was completely watered down. They didn't even have the wonderful crushed ice anyone. Glad I didn't bother with a milkshake as usual. I will never go back to this location again. So beware everyone! read more

My husband is a big fan of Steak and Shake! He loves everything about the experience. Before we met I had never been to the restaurant. However, now every Sunday after Church he has to get his Steak and Shake fill and, of course, I'm loving it, too!!! We have experienced the best service and food at the Douglasville location. The food was as good as a usual steak and shake. That wasn't the problem. It was the fact I stood at the front hostess stand for about 5 minutes while I counted at least 12 employees and two other customers in the restaurant. The server I used was great. While waiting for our food I witnessed an employee smacking herself in the head (patting her weave) also the same girl was picking her face then licking her fingers to stop the bleeding I'm guessing. And many of the other employees were in and out of the side door. They weren't delivering food to people waiting it was more of a lets go visit my friends for a few. We've been twice since it opened. Both times, our wait for food was terrible! Over 20 minutes for drinks to arrive after ordering and 45 for food! The 1st time we went was within a month or so of opening, so we chalked that visit up to them still working out kinks. But this last visit, there was no excuse. There were only 3 waitresses, but there was 7, yes 7, people in the kitchen including a manager. Bottom line, they treat drive thru customers as a priority over dine in customers to a level that is insane. We will wait a few months and give them one last shot, but 3 times and that's it. Word of advice to the owner, GET A NEW MANAGER. Your employees are clearly unhappy and care nothing about your customers.
