I eat at the Huber Heights location frequently. Very consistent good food quality and quick service. Post-covid, the kiosk ordering works much better than pre-covid waiters. Waiters were always slow to get orders taken and completed, and food could take forever to be cooked/served. With the kiosk ordering system in place, orders are easy to place and completed very quickly, which means your food is hot when you pick it up at the counter. read more

98% of the time our order is wrong! They offer to replace your food if you bring the receipt in. We'll, they've gotten that wrong, too. And half the time we've already thrown out the bag, along with the receipt. Plus, who wants to run all the way back there while everyone else eats or their food gets cold!! Tonight I had had it so I called them AGAIN, and I wasn't as nice this time! I was mad!! And guess what? The so called manager there just laughed! We have had enough! Culvert has much better food, the service is good, and the staff is friendly. Besides that, they do a lot of charity work and give back to the community. I can't say the same about Steak n Shake at all. Their employees are rude, they are either not well trained or don't care, and obviously they don't care who they put in management! There was no one to help us (older folks) to customize our order. (Lots of finger prints on the kiosk...GROSS). When we spend money to go out to eat, we like to be waited on. I can't believe I was treated so RUDELY on such a beautiful day. I ordered a double garlic burger combo for @$7 and a Frisco Melt sandwich only for @$6 which means that my order should have been about @$15 with taxes....somewhere within....so I had my little Yorkie dog with me therefore I asked them to only put 1 patty on the burger and the other in wrapping because I did not want her to each the sauce. The register person told me to hold on and then resited that my bill was $20. I drove to the checkout counter and then thought about the totals in my head and things did not add up so I asked her how did she come to $20....thinking that in error she added something on there twice or something. She was a young lady who was confused herself so she went and got another male to help her. He told me that because I did not want the 2nd patty that then made the sandwich a regular garlic burger. I told him that I don't think he was understanding me....I did want the 2nd patty....just not on the burger because I wanted to give it to my dog and I think garlic is toxic for a dog. He told me he could not make my sandwich that way and if i wanted it that way, he would have to charge me for a regular sandwich and charge me an extra $3 for an additional patty.....lol....I then said sir are you serious and he said yes I am..... I said sir do you hear yourself.....that sounds stupid....I want the sandwich just want you to leave a patty off then I immediately said don't worry about it......I'll take it and just take it off myself....no problem.....he then says Well you don't have to eat here.... I said EXCUSE ME....and my pregnant daughter who was craving Steak and Shake says mom let's just go before they do something to our food. She said I used to work for the one in Englewood and have seen some STUFF....mom let's just go.....he then asked the young lady had I paid and she said no and he told me good ....then that's that....so I then asked for his name and her very cocky told me he was the store manager, he gave me his business card as if to say.... He was rude, did not listen to me, no empathy and extremely poor customer service and you wonder why there is an uptick of customer/employee argumentative situations. I was not asking for anything free....I was only asking for the party to be placed in the wrap/separate box....something.....and he was just so nasty about it.....it was very uncomfortable and demeaning infront of his staff and my daughter and I dont appreciate that type of behavior. Get rid of the ridiculous QR code for the soda machine! You have to scan it every single time you want a drink or a refill, it's so annoying and causes such a back up, and you better be hasty you only have 10-15 seconds. Most people don't know what they are doing, this elderly woman was so confused and so my husband scanned our code for her twice and apparently you only get so many refills because when I went to get another drink it wouldn't take it so I had to ask and was just told yes you only get so many refills before it stops you. Seriously, soda is so cheap, if you're worried about people taking drinks who haven't paid put the cups in the back and call them out like they do the food and shakes! Went late on a Friday night with my family. We got seated quickly but waited a very long time for our food. When it came, my sister's milkshake wasn't brought out. About halfway through our meal, we were finally able to get the server's attention. We asked about the milkshake and if we could get refills (two of us had completely empty cups). She rudely stated that she was the only server and hadn't had time to make the shake. This is completely ridiculous as the shakes always come out with the other drinks. She offered no apology. Meanwhile, two couples walked out because they were being ignored, and one party actually sent someone to find the server and ask her for refills. There were two people in the kitchen area and one of them appeared to be a manager. She did absolutely nothing to help. She didn't even check on the dining room. My sister finally got her shake after the meal was finished, and even then the server practically threw it at her. Once again, no apology or even a kind word. The one and only reason I'm leaving two stars is because the food was good. But you can get good Steak N Shake food at any location. Avoid this one because it's a dumpster fire. read more

I thought they were short on at Taft but when I gave my money the cashier was surrounded by at least 6 others. It was very dirty looking in there. Had to ask for the rest of the booth to be cleaned the seat and wall which was gross. Sitting there my husband is grossed by having to see the sweat of an upkept looking man drip into the food the kicker was the cottage cheese that was brought out this is when we said we are leaving. I'm disgusted that we drink from the cups. My cottage cheese I wish I would of taken a picture of the whole thing. But I didn't realize the other side of the plate had more different gross substances I noticed the dried finger spear mark the hair and the other gross discolored drips in the cottage cheese. This is sad. I use to love Steak 'n Shake, but this company has forgotten there mission and the customer. Their food is no where as good as it once was. They forgot that they didn't want to become a "workraunt", and now they're more work for the customer than any other fast food place. They still serve chili, but you're no longer allowed to to order it on your fries. If you order extra sauce on your burger, they give you a packet on the side. Food is good, but the service is terrible!! My family was seated promptly, but it took forever for our server to come and acknowledge us. There were maybe five tables in the whole dining room. We received our food promptly and accurately; however, we were missing our milkshakes. We were told it would take "awhile" because they were backed up because it was, "Happy Hour" and they only had one person doing milkshakes. If you know you get busy during Happy Hour then why not schedule an extra person for your rush?! I never saw a manager, until the very end of our visit and only because another table (which was seated next to us) was complaining about the same issues we had. If I could give this location 0 stars I would. I hate for my first yelp review to be this negative, but I am completely disgusted by the service this restaurant demonstrated to me on June 22nd 2019. I went through the drive through only to wait behind 4 cars for 15 minutes before getting my order taken. Then, when I actually got up to the window I went to order my food only for the worker to tell me that her speaker wasn't working. Then I was asked if I could physically come in to order my food which wasn't a big deal, I didn't mind. Then we ( my 3 other friend and I ) went in only to wait 10 more minutes only to be acknowledged, I then told the server that we were told to come in and order our food because their speaker went out and she said she had no idea what we were talking about. One of my friends then said "well should we just seat ourselves?" sarcastically because at this point we were fed up. After she says this the worker took a rude tone with us and says "honestly it's up to you because I'm the only server here tonight and I can't deal with it", after we were literally told to come in and order our food. I ordered my food , waited for 10 minutes then sat down for maybe another 10. Nothing no food no other acknowledgment that I was even there. I stood up, and I look their way for five minutes.
