This Streak N Shake needs 5 stars all across the board. I've been going here for YEARS, since I was a little girl and this steak 'n shake has never failed with its top quality. While it's a big chain you definitely receive different service based on the location. This is the #1 location. My husband is going through some medical issues and so after a long day of fasting, we decided to grab some lunch at steak 'n Shake. Obviously we haven't been there in a long time and we're not very happy with the changes. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but you have to order on a kiosk. I asked if we couldn't just have a menu and sit down and they said no you had to order on the kiosk, but they were very helpful and showed us everything on the kiosk and then they told you to go get your drink. What I didn't know is that you have to scan your receipt first before you can pour your own tea. I was also disappointed in the menu. They don't even have salads anymore, so I ordered a hotdog and I asked for a side of coleslaw instead of french fries. Nope! They don't even have coleslaw anymore. The hotdog was good. The meat seems like good quality. I was just kind of disappointing that you couldn't get what you actually wanted. My husband got some kind of double cheeseburger and a milkshake. He said they were both very good. He said that the meat was better quality than most of the fast food burger places. Ambience well it's really bright and pretty with the red and white and black color but you have to be willing to bus your own tables and bring your own food to the table. I will have to say that the manager that was very kind. Seeing my husband's medical condition he did bring the food to our table without us even asking. I guess we had just expected to go in and sit down and get a menu and relax a bit. Service is always great, the food always seems cooked to order... but the milkshakes are what have my heart. They, HANDS DOWN, have the best shakes of any fast food place I've ever tried. Terrible service and customer attention! Tonight, I went to buy a Nutella shake, and when I tasted it, it was extremely sweet--very different from how they usually prepare it. I went back and politely asked them to change it because it was way too sweet or concentrated, and the staff's reaction was to mock me and say I was crazy while laughing with their coworkers as they prepared the new shake. Their attitude really upset me, so I asked for a refund. It wasn't very busy at 6 pm on a Sunday night which made ordering and receiving the food exceptionally timely- not that I've ever had to wait very long for any Steak 'n Shake item. The dining area was clean except for a few fries on the floor but that's expected for the run of the mill Fast food joint. You get what you pay for. So many low star reviews for this place... What on earth are people expecting from a place with a $4 meal menu??? I for one love steak and shake, and their food and service has never been a disappointment for me. We came in most recently this past Sunday for lunch. They were pretty busy but the host was very friendly and made sure we were seated quickly. Our waitress was super nice and made a few recommendations on things we might like. Always bonus points in my book. The food came out quicker than we expected as it looked like they were short staffed and had managers running the grill. The food tasted great as always. I normally get the double steak burger and fries... $3.99 plus I always get cheese fries for the extra small cost. We saw that they just started a 2 for $3 menu too, looks like a lot of great options on there too! Hot sandwiches and hot fries, cold drinks. What more can you ask for from a steak and shake?? Their new version of a handmade milk shake is mixing non flavored machine made soft serve in a blender with vanilla syrup. They used to have good shakes, now is just a cold chemical tasting soup. Our last visit gets one star, we had Darious and Rachel as servers, the manager never left the kitchen. We also heard her yelling at the cook when we arrived, she was loud. There were two managers still bad service. The dinning room was a mess, the waiters were just bad. I am told by others in the group they appear to be untrained and need training. I don't think either should be waiters. However I give them the benefit of doubt and will blame the manager, we waited a long time just for drinks and Rachel just dumped them on one spot on the table, Darious was really not good as he was actually the waiter. He couldn't even ring up the bill so had Rachel do it. It was of course wrong. Food took very long and had to ask for refill twice. We were in there way to long over an hour and a half. You know drive through gets in and out fast but they don't serve the inside at a decent rate. If it were up to me I would not go back or at least not eat inside. Every time I stop in there is a problem but this time I had my free shake reward that will expire in two days and my pregnant daughter who is having her baby tomorrow wanted a shake. I thought how cool she wants a shake, use the coupon right before it expires. Oh heck no. I order the shake, tell them I had the coupon, wait in line, almost hand me the shake but then tells me they can't use the coupon because it is happy hour. But she is willing to charge me half price now for the free shake. This store used to be pretty good, but lately is quite poor. Surly children seem to be in charge. On our last, and final visit, it took close to 30 minutes in the drive through. We were the fourth car in line, and then they somehow managed to get the order wrong. Between the the service and food, it was a poor experience, and has been recently. Real steak patties and the buns are slightly toasted with a hint of butter. Shoestring fries are super skinny. Splash with ketchup and that orange Steak n Shake seasoning. They have a good variety of burgers. Good use of avocado, jalapeños and bacon. They do melts and they have west coast, Midwest and other regional burgers on their menu. Hot dogs too. I can't believe I haven''t checked in more often since I have been plenty of times!! The restaurant is always in great shape and the staff very friendly. The service is fast, and the food is always good. The prices are always reasonable. Kids eat free on the weekend with each adult meal, I believe, not bad! For breakfast there are a lot of choices to choose from and my girls love it! Especially the chocolate chip pancakes, well, what is there not to love there. Lunch offers a bunch of good options. Maybe not the healthiest choices, but when you go there, healthy is not at the top of your list, just for one meal. Come on. Too good to pass up!!
