It's almost not worth reviewing because it's a chain and it's very typical. Went there last night, 4 waiters greeted us about 30 seconds apart but no one could seat us until about 2 minutes, not a big deal, but i feel like they should have a hostess or someone assigned to seat patrons. This location isn't that bad, The burgers are fresh and it's nice to sit down for a $4.00 burger and fries. Now, for all my ice-tea drinkers out there, this location does not know how to make iced tea...but they do know how to give you sugar water. Avoid the Iced tea like the plague. read more

I can't believe I haven''t checked in more often since I have been plenty of times!! The restaurant is always in great shape and the staff very friendly. The service is fast, and the food is always good. The prices are always reasonable. Kids eat free on the weekend with each adult meal, I believe, not bad! For breakfast there are a lot of choices to choose from and my girls love it! Especially the chocolate chip pancakes, well, what is there not to love there. Lunch offers a bunch of good options. Maybe not the healthiest choices, but when you go there, healthy is not at the top of your list, just for one meal. Come on. Too good to pass up!! Be warned though, go during a "peak" time say 12:30 for lunch, it will be packed and busy, but worth the wait!! read more

So we went to this Steak and Shake late Saturday night. They had 1 server and a team lead working we could see about 5 other people in the back working. After waiting 30 minutes with no service I get up to ask whats going on? The team lead says well we are under staffed. I said I see about 5 of you back there she said well they all got off 2 hours ago and stayed to help out. She says go ahead and complain maybe the manager will schedule more staff. Fast forward the server takes ournorder and doesn't come back until he has the food and drinks with him. I had also ordered a sald first he never brought it until I was half way done with the meal. We go to pay and I ask to have the soda removed from my bill and the salad since I didn't touch it. Another man from the back comes out and aggressively says"I fu@$*$! hate people like you! I I ask and what exactly do you mean by that. I am white and he wasn't, I'm a female, what? Then I ask for the corporate number he tells me its on the door dont you know how to read! I said as far as you know I have a disability and can't read he said I don't give a Fu@@ about your disability. I said give me your name he said oh right you can't read. I walked over to see his name tag and he yanked it off. He said I'm not even on the clock I don't care I said your behind that counter you represent Steak and Shake and I am sure workers comp would love to know you all are here working for free. The team lead never came back out. I took his picture and he had a smug look on his face. I called the corporate number on Sunday was told I would get a call in 72 hours and nothing. I just called back and they said oh it just says an employee was rude to you. Yeah no cursed out! And told people like me! Does no one seem to be disturbed he is allegedly working off the clock on grills with an afro...literally and no hair net. I could go on! Its a shame this is acceptable behaviour apparently for the Oviedo Steak and Shake. I want him terminated he needs to learn how Customer Service works. We all. wish and one point or another we can tell someone off but professionalism needs to be had. To make it worse I was charged the original price and then they ran my card for the price without the drink and salad. So I was charged twice....thats fraud! I will continue to complain on all avenues until someone understands this was not ok and I was clearly discriminated against for Whatever reason! He is a liability in more ways then 1. Just stopped by because I love the food,. Wanted to order the buffalo steakburger on the menu but was told it only comes on the 2 for 3 menu and that I cant change the fries to large.....I said fine I understand so upcharge for a large.....waitress said it couldn't be done and thats why they were getting the menu (out the door) because a lot of people ask for special orders with the new menu items. I just asked for my drink to go so I could go out the door. Stopped in with my family on an insane Friday night. We sat at the bar top and was able to witness hard work first hand. (Nov2) Homecoming football games letting out and guess where the whole Oviedo came to eat. Luckily this location has a crew leader like Andy. She was able to keep up with the demands of the restaurant, while motivating her crew to do the same. She is definitely an asset to this company. We are repeat customers because of her. read more

McDonalds has better customer service than these people. Placed an online order and when I walked in to pick up, lady at the cashier was dealing with another customer. I waited patiently. When she was done, she just walked away and didn't even acknowledge that I was there. Another customer walked in and she ran back to the counter ready to take their order. I interjected and let her know I was waiting there for my online order for about 10 minutes now. She informed another girl who was just finishing making my order. That girl gave it to the line Chef who just walked over as if he could care less and nonchalantly basic just dropped the bag in my hand and walked away. I have always loved Steak n'Shake. It's practically mmy go to fast food spot but I usually go through the drive thru. This time I decided to take the kids inside. Horrible mistake. When we walked in almost every take was a mess with dirty plates and cups. I figured we must have just missed the rush. Waited about 5 minutes to be seated . When we sat down no one came back to help us. Meanwhile all the tables around us are still filthy. After 15 minutes or more of waiting for someone to acknowledge us, I had to get up and ask the manager if someone could please assist us. He seemed shocked we were even there and asked where we were seated. The place was not busy so I i didn't understand how he didn't see us. A few minutes later someone finally came. Normally I would have left but I had starving children with me. As we sat waiting for our order we saw a older gentleman leave his table and started yelling at the manager at the register. Obviously we were not the only customers not happy. Before leaving I asked for the manager. I explained to him our experience and all he had to say was he is sorry we had to wait so long but our waiter was having a mental breakdown. Overall this place had horrible service. I do not like to complain or write bad reviews because I recognize that everyone has a bad day but this was not about one person. This was about everyone dropping the ball. From the manager to the employees. Eat at this place at your own risk. By the way, every single table was still dirty with plates and cups and food when we left. Wanted two shakes. Ordered through drive-through. banana shake so thin it was like straight milk. Gave it back. Peanut butter shake just as thin but couldn't get manager or drive-through girl to LISTEN TO WHAT WE WERE SAYING! Ended up just keeping the thin, watery Peanut butter shake. Could not use credit card to pay for meal, and staff had trouble figuring out how to divide the meal up on the ticket. We asked for 3 separate checks. Been to many steak and shakes and this seems to be like any other :)) the staff was very friendly. At least the lady who we had today. When she brought my food out she noticed that they didn't put enough fries on the plate so she went back and brought a plate of fries. I wouldn't have even noticed there wasn't enough fries but it felt nice that she noticed that and got more fries. The food came very quickly and tasted great. You can tell it came straight off the grill. My only complaint is the bathroom smelt a little weird but it was clean so I didn't mind. I plan to come back in the future :) read more

They falsely advertise! Very poor location! Wouldn't accept my coupon because of the Romain lettuce recall. This is totally unfair to me as a paying customer. In the search for a good hot breakfast place for meetings on the east side and on the fly, S&S does a very nice job. It is what it is as far as atmosphere but that is part of its consistent charm. The staff is usually super friendly, very attentive, its clean, ( usually ) and breakfast is hot, plentiful and delicious. Prices are right. I also visit late nights if we are out and about and have a melt or a burger and its always consistently good. Like other reviewers have said, "What's not to love about Steak and Shake". and because it is a chain, its consistently good wherever you go but I do prefer this Oviedo location. read more

It's kind of hard to go wrong with this type of place. The burgers are quite good and prices are extremely fair. I am not a big fan of the matchstick fries. They tend to be or get cold quite quickly. Wish they'd offer other fries options, but again, the burgers are more than decent. I recently tried a salad and it was surprisingly tasty with some really unique honey mustard sauce that seemed to have a bit of horseradish in it. It can be a crowded and noisy place at times. I don't care for shakes, so can't offer an opinion on something that is apparently a big draw for them. But, if you're looking for a tasty, have it your way inexpensive burger, give them a try. read more

Visited Steak n Shake with our grandchildren the other day. The employees that work here are so kind and patient. It says alot for the managers that hire them and the people who train them. My hat's off to you. Our waitress Bre was so kind when my husband didn't realize the hot dog comes with ketchup & mustard! She politely went and got him another one. This has been a "go to" for my family for milkshakes and burgers. It has always been friendly with decent food. Today something was off. We have a usual server that we didn't see and got a girl I hadn't seen there before. We got our food delivered and 4 of us were out of drinks. The server refilled the adults, but not the children. She promptly went to go to the front and talk to her friend. My older son asked if he could just walk over and take his empty cup. My husband at that point got up and had to ask for a refill. We could have brushed that off, because it wasn't a huge deal, but it was irritating. My husband points out a couple sitting at the bar stools. They have a pitbull mix puppy in lady's arms. Now, I wouldn't be bothered by this normally, because I am a crazy dog lady, but it seemed like the whole place was a shitshow. No manager in site. Will update review with another visit if it improves. Whatever manager that was working tonight needs to take some classes on management and customer service and how to lead by example. read more

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I don't know what exactly happened to this place because just months ago it was not this bad (if I had to guess, there's new management that does not know what on earth they're doing). After one bad experience a couple of weeks ago, I figured the 40 minute drive thru delay was simply a fluke, but after waiting 1 hour for two burgers and a milkshake today, I think it's safe to say this is the new normal. The waits are absolutely horrendous for a fast food place (and even ridiculous for an average sit-down restaurant, frankly). The service at this steak-n-shake isn't the best. Usually only one server when I've been there. I've been going to this location since I was little since I've lived in Oviedo all my life. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely love the food. My favorite meal is the Frisco Melt!! I get it every time I go. They have a special FRISCO sauce that bursts with flavor on your tongue and the bread is lightly toasted. An all around amazing sandwich. I love the fries, although they are very small. They taste good, and when you sprinkle the seasoning that is provided for you on the table on them, mmmmm it's the best. The shakes are also very tasty. I've tried the m&m, cookie dough, cookie butter, peanut butter cup, and the chocolate chip mint and they were all great. I didn't particularly like cookie butter though, but that is just my opinion. I would recommend this place, because although the service may not be the best sometimes, it's still a great place for families, and friends to go for a nice, relaxed lunch/dinner. This used to be one of our go to places to eat. However thee last 2 visits (Not going back) have been horrible! Taking over 30 minutes to get our food the first time with bad service. This last time (Thurs. 3/16/17) It took just shy of an hour. One of us ordered Grilled Cheese. What came out was two pieces of toast with a slice of un melted cheese in the middle. The fries looked and tasted like they were two days old. Chicken fingers were "rubbery". Steak burger barely worth eating. We arrived around 9 pm, left around 10:30pm. Very few people in the restaurant. Tables were nasty the entire time there. Someone had spilled a milkshake while we were there (when we left it had still not been cleaned up). It was a nasty environment. Workers & the management on site at the time did not want to work. Customer service was horrible. There are too many other restaurants in the area for me to deal with service like this! read more

They USED to be Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate shakes but some idiot in corporate decided to break with Hershey's and now they taste like someone blended potting soil with ice cream, chocolate chips, whipped cream and a cherry. Their burgers and fries are still the best but DUMP the NASTY DC Shakes or use the Hershey's syrup/mix again. On Dec 2 around 1:00 am this server called jenny or w.e gave terrible service... Took 20 mins for a simple shake and when I did get it the shake was melted and chocolate was all over the cup... We used to love this restaurant but not anymore. I think it's this location. Took the family for breakfast on Sunday. The service was extremely slow and it wasn't crowded. My husband's toast was hard as a rock, 5 out of 6 of us ordered pancakes and only 3 small cups of syrup were brought to the table. We asked for more and the pancakes got cold because we waited forever. My banana didn't arrive with my breakfast and my son only got 2 more pancakes (he ordered the endless pancakes) because we were tired of waiting. Very disappointed. read more

Service and quality/value has tanked over the last five months. New Manager? Did not get butter or pancake syrup with pancakes. That's a no brainer. No butter or jelly with biscuit. Regular size choc. chip pancakes are half the size they used to be. Verified with waitress that they were not child size. 2nd refill of coffee tasted like sludge. Not enough sugar etc at table. Cheddar scrambler was made with egg beaters not real eggs. I did witness them using egg beaters. The booth we sat in was filthy with finger/food smudges all over the black wall. Noticed the whole place looked really dirty. When the manager cashed us out at the register, he asked if everything was ok. I said that this place has REALLY changed lately. He said that they were short staffed and he didn't even attempt to find out what my concerns were. Did I mention it took 15 mins for anyone to ask for our drink orders and 30 mins to get our food. I was going to let that go but the lack of service/care made me to think otherwise.
