This would have only been 1 star if their shakes weren't so yummy and ginormous. I like their variety on the menu and I like the retro decor. We had coupons too, which was nice! My ice water had chocolate smeared all over the inside of the glass, it was nasty. The waitress didn't compensate whatsoever she barely apologized when we asked for another water. The sandwiches were lame, just lacking in flavor completely. Hubby ordered the Oktoberfest steak burger and they were out of pretzel buns, he ordered it a anyway and it was just soggy and overrated. I got the Wisconsin Buttery Steakburger and it was like a gray burger with barely any cheese. He had fries that were not seasoned at all and near cold and I had coleslaw that had cabbage practically floating in the coleslaw sauce... I'm sure it was just an off day or the location was off... Worst-managed steak & shake I've ever experienced. Food took very long time to arrive, but still beat our shakes by several minutes. From seating us to bringing the check, it was a non-stop apology parade. "Sorry for your wait." Where was the manager? I couldn't say. But leaving a rookie shake maker to flounder while getting backed up over 40 minutes fails to meet any standard of management I recognize. read more

This is one of our favorite spots to bring our granddaughter after a long week of school and work. I was disappointed in the service this evening. The server started out attentive but than all of a sudden we never saw him again until we were finished eating. Never checked back, forgot the ranch dressing for the onion rings, no extra napkins. Went to the Parma location and it totally ruined my day. Ordered the $4 lunch with a side of chili like it says in the ad-was told it would be $4.58. I said change it to salad she said ok-did not tell me till I got to the window it would still be $4.58-no meat just lettuce and they are still ripping you off with the false advertising. I also asked for no cheese-got home and covered in cheese. It is disgusting how these people can't get a very simple order right and take FOREVER to make it. It took so long a line formed behind me. Do they intentionally hire stupid people or was I just lucky. I was almost afraid to eat the food-wondered if it took so long because they were spitting or sneezing on it. They only thing they are good at is driving people to the competition. McDonalds and Wendy are right around the corner. Burger King gives out valuable coupons. All the employees are smarter. SNS coupons probably can't be believed because of their addiction to false advertising. They should hire 5 year olds-they are not twisted yet to lie and get all the orders wrong. Everyday in almost any paper insert you can find coupons for Steak 'n Shake. They honor all in any combination. Absolutely make the best patty melts and shakes-real ice cream that will freeze your brain. We go mostly to the Parma or Tiedeman locations. They can be busy but someone in the restaurant always seems to step up and help with the service. Another great choice is the $5.99 combo of salad, shake, burger and fries. The amount of food is always filling without leaving you sloggy. Watched a family with 4 little ones eat on the weekend for the price of 2--kids eat free! This is sit-down food served fast, and the service is tip-worthy. I look around and see many seniors here, many teens, and many families, so they know how to please just about everyone! read more

never had a bad experience at this store until today. the rude drive through worker forgot our milkshake until we had to pry her attention away from her coworkers to help us at the window. she then forgot our straw and spoon. when we got home, we realized our bag was soaked in the ranch from our chicken tenders. it got all over our car and ruined all our food. the lids of the ranch weren't even on the container whatsoever. extremely upset and still hungry. read more

Would have gone zero stars if it would have let me. Went with my 3 children, teenager, age 4 & age 2. High chair the hostess brought to the table had food in it, fries, bread, obviously filthy, she didn't seem to notice. I returned it to the line of high chairs to exchange it, all had visible pieces of food, crumbs, ketchup, ect. Brought it to the attention of roaming manager- was told they get cleaned at the end of the day. Gross! Not between customers OR when dirty. SHE SEEMED SUPRISED THAT AT 2PM, AND AFTER USE BY SEVERAL CHILDREN, THAT IT WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN STILL CLEAN FROM YESTERDAY. Duh. So I washed the high chair before and after our meal knowing the next family to use it would otherwise be presented with the spit and food my 2 yr old left behind. Waitress took our order sans writing anything down, so yes our order was jacked up. Told that to manager, she reassured me kitchen made an error not waitress, showed me the computer order waitress entered that printed out for kitchen staff to use to make our order... well, yes waitress entered our food in wrong. No waiting for new food with three kids, so i just don't go there anymore. And i must mention, no one cleaned any of the dirty high chairs while we were there....... read more
