Swenson's is a northeast Ohio gem and I love seeing them do well enough to expand - especially to a location near my house. If you're not familiar, the concept is classic Americana drive-up restaurant. Park your car and turn your lights on for service. Then, you can either eat in your car with the service tray over your window, or take your order to go. I get friendly service 10/10 times and I get quick service 6/10 times. Focusing on being able to serve customers faster would be my suggestion for this particular location - it has seemed especially slow in the latter half of 2025. Despite the occasional slowness, the food we get is consistently great, and the prices are shockingly good. I have especially loved the menu collaborations and specials Swenson's has been doing. The fact that area companies support each other in this way is something that truly makes Cleveland special. The Cordelia / Swenson's pimento cheeseburger with Kool-aid pickles was outstanding. The Larder / Swenson's collab was just as good - giving us loaded deli fries with pastrami spices. They've also started running a monthly whip special, which one server told me doesn't seem to be that popular, but it has kept me coming back with more frequency because I just have to try the newest iteration. So far, the Dr. Pepper whip (August) and the chocolate mint whip (December) have been my favorites. read more

This was my first visit to a Swensons. I recently saw it in an indie movie and wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately no one was really interested in my headlights or the cute things that Hollywood played up. But the service was friendly and fast. Like I got my food in 5 minutes fast! I tried a galley boy and fries. The sauces are like bbq sauce and something creamy and actually probably made the whole meal. It's kind of a small squishy little burger. Ha! The fries don't feel fresh even though I'm sure they are freshly prepared. All in all the experience was ok. It's probably not joining my regular rotation but it was nice to try once. read more

The service here was spectacular, and the prices are fair for having to eat in one's car. Food is OK. I honestly came here for the fried bologna sandwich, which was served on a soft toasted roll with nicely caramelized onions. It was very evident to me that, not only was this not the highest quality bologna on the world, but that someone browned it on the grill real quickly (it was room temperature at the center). It's a thick slice -- too thick to warm properly on a short order grill. The hot dog here is decent and worth a repeat, as are the fried mushrooms. The Cali drink was surprisingly good. Kudos to this place for using Sonic-style ice (also known as 'injury ice'). Nice crunch. read more

I went there with my friend for the first time last night and had the best experience ever. Our server Guerrin was so helpful and literally made our night. I got the build your own cheeseburger and my friend got the banana milkshake both were 10 out of 10. That's the only place I'm getting burgers from now on and the customer service truly does set the tone for everything else. So many people these days seem like they just hate what they're doing and would rather not be there --so it always makes me happy to see an employee that actually cares. First time in Cleveland, and first meal from the city. My flight flew in around 12am so not many foods to grab this late at night. Came across Swensons and was pleasantly surprised. They have a drive up set up similar to Sonic's which we don't see often nowadays. The food selections was pretty big and random. Soups, sloppy joes, pulled pork burger, fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, fish platter etc. Ordered the galley burger, sloppy Joe's, fried onion rings, fried zucchini and the Ohio drink. Everything was pretty good. The galley burger was great, double smash Pattie's in melting cheese and caramelizes onions and bbq sauce. Kind of reminds me of Whataburger patty melt mix with rodeo burger from Burger King. With smash burgers with cheese like bun B trill burger. The zucchini and onions rings were super freshly fried. Tasted excellent especially fresh. Super friendly service and they got our order out to us quick. I haven't actually eaten there before. My friend and I opted to do the stay there mode. They took our order and came back quick with our burgers and onion rings. My friend was excited about the shakes that they had so she got one for later. She really enjoyed the burger and the onion rings were fresh and very hot. I've had the burgers and onion rings before. Always good. It was interesting that they bring the food out on a tray and when you're done they come back and retrieve the tray and cash you out. I will have to keep in mind that they have the option to eat there in your car. This particular location doesn't get too busy so it's nice to come and get some fresh food. The car waiter is a total idiot. He kept $11 in change in a tip after a miscommunication on my tip total. Didn't give it back. Never gave us straws. Never came when he literally looked at our car with lights on. The cup on our drink broke and he replaced it with a kid's size. No refills. After we had to go I for him to clear the trays he left the marked on the window and we had to honk again. Horrible service. read more

How can you go wrong here? Total classic. Recognized as one of the best burgers in the country for a reason. If you like a little sweetness go with the galley boy, if not get a cheeseburger with everything ( which is just pickles onions and mustard) and enjoy for all its simplicity. I LOVE Swensons - but this location is not up to their standard service. This place is brand new and beautiful - so we gave it a couple different shots. First visit: a Sunday at about noon - it took 45 minutes to get our order ready. Super long wait, but food was fine. Second visit: Random Tuesday night at 7pm. We knew the last time took a while, so we ordered in advance for pickup at 7pm. I got there at 6:55 and they took my name and confirmed the order. 35 minutes later I still do not have our order (2 large and 2 kids milkshakes). I ask what's the delay and they said others were waiting 45 minutes after order. So essentially the advance order did not matter and my order was not ready until 7:40pm instead of the 7pm time entered. Third visit: Monday at about 5 pm. Order took over 20 minutes to receive. Ordered mozzarella sticks and grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was not great and the tomato tasted old (like when it gets mealy or gritty). I love their food, but I will be going to other locations in the future. read more

This location just opened a week ago, so they have a lot of improvements to make. I was parked in my car with my headlights on for a little over 30 minutes and thought oh they are just really busy, so I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. I made eye contact several times to some of the employees as they walked around the building but still no one would come and take my order. I continued to see cars come and go with their order placements and meals after sitting here for quite some time. Then I finally just decided maybe I just need to move my car closer to the building and who would of thought, that actually worked! And someone took my order right away. They need to work on their service a bit better or be more aware of what cars have been sitting there with their lights on. Food is still good and the server who take care of me was a very nice gentleman who apologized to me on behalf of his coworkers. My fam was so excited to have a Swenson open near us...and then we tried it. Ordered a Galley and a Sloppy Joe with fries. The Galley was AWFUL! Couldn't even see the beef patties, just the bun. There was no sauce that I could taste and the menu says 2 sauces on the burger. The Sloppy Joe was edible. However I did end I up throwing up about an hour after we ate. What a shame! read more
