This was close to Firestone and I had a wait for my car while some emergency repairs were being completed so I decided to grab some lunch. All I can say is gross, especially when one of the many flies fell onto my plate and got stuck in some ketchup. Well that was the end of my meal. I politely paid my bill and left never to return. It is always "Screw you at the drive thru" here. My kid loves this place so I order here often. The meals that are supposed to come with a cookie never do. Today I called them out on it and asked where it was. The drive thru girl relayed to the manager who said they were out. I said they are ALWAYS out and never bother to tell you, just have you drive away to discover it later. This was relayed. She offered me an extra next time. I told the girl this is the eighth time it has happened. The manager then said, relayed through the drive thru girl, that I could wait ten minutes while they made some. Um, no thanks. Food was outstanding as usual however the place was filthy. From trash on the floors, dirty counter tops, scum on menus the ketchup bottle and salt shaker plus dirty cooking areas. If you want super slow service and food that may or may not still be warm enough to eat when you get it, go through the drive thru. But if you want food that'll actually be edible, you'll need to dine in. Every drive thru/carryout experience I've had at this location has been disappointing, but it's the closest to my home and my kids like their chili and shakes. It's taken as long as a half hour to get 5 shakes made, and that wouldn't have been so bad, but they gave us our burgers and fries within the first 15 minutes, so of course ALL the food was cold and soggy by the time we got our shakes. The only thing the manager would do was suggest that we call the number on our receipt to complain because she was too busy! So, after making a complaint, we were sent a $5 gift card, "Wow, thanks"! (Sarcasm) When the food is fresh and hot, it's delicious, but that's not very often. Update: made the mistake of going back to this location again this morning, I ordered a Steak n Shake meal, asked for the steakburger to have everything on it, apparently that translates to nothing, but ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise (sigh). The people were fantastic but the service was extremely slow for the small amount of people that happen to be in this particular restaurant. Usually we get good service and have a really nice waitress but this time our waitress was really rude. When she took our order she acted like we were bothering her with our order. Not only did she take forever to bring our drinks because she was taking other people's order before getting our drinks but when she did she just threw the glasses down and walked away. Two of the four glasses were dirty with food floating inside. We asked the other waitress if we could get clean glasses and she politely said yes, but it was the other one that brought the glasses and again threw them on the table and walked away without even apologizing. Again one of the glasses were dirty. So now I am sitting here waiting forever waiting for her to return to get a clean glass and I'm sure she is only going to get madder. They need to get rid of her and get someone that actually want to work. read more

This place is why we need an option to rate zero stars. My goodness this place is garbage. It is a shame because sometimes I like to go to Steak n Shake because I like their shakes from time to time. Was on the way home from the Home Depot (in the same parking lot) and my wife and I decided to grab some burgers, fries and shakes. My goodness, talk about barf on a bun and that is only half the story. The burgers are notoriously thin, that's fine, but it was so overcooked it was like a meat chip which crunched when you bit into it. Also when the highlight of the burger was the tomato you know you have a bad burger. Their fries are not that great to begin with, but they were cold and unsalted. You may as well ask them to give you whatever they have ready because you won't get what you order. First off I would give.our server Maria 4 stars but some of the reasons I would give it a 2 star overall- No hostess/greeter stood there awkwardly for a few minutes Food was okay but how can u mess up eggs and bacon? Steak 'n Shake is the epitome of outstanding cheap food. I know those words hardly ever go together, but it makes sense when you really think about Steak n' Shake. I went to this restaurant for brunch and it was completely crowded. In fact, I had to wait to get seated. This restaurant really doesn't have a good system for waiting either. It consists of basically standing in front of the door awkwardly until someone notices you. Although once I was seated, the waitress and staff were rather friendly and helpful. During my brunch, I had eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. My wife had mini burgers and fries. My dish was alright and my wife seemed to like her dish as well. The food was nothing to rave about but it did fill us up. I also shared a peanut butter shake with my wife, which was rather delicious. The shake was infinitely creamy and had small chunks of peanut butter in it. The whole shake just blended really well together. As a whole, the restaurant was rather clean and I enjoyed my experience at Steak 'N Shake. It wasn't memorable in shape or form but it had a different quality about it. It was cheap. I'll give Steak N' Shake three stars for this reason alone. Not to mention, their shakes are simply phenomenal. It was just a heavenly creation filled with chunks of gooey delicious peanut butter. I struggle with Steak & Shake. If you read my reviews, I've probably got 4 or 5 locations that I've lit up in the past, nationwide. They have all been slower than snail, service-wise. And I'm not talking about having fast food expectations. But it shouldn't take 15 minutes to be seated when the place is empty, or 30 minutes for food. This Steak & Shake, thankfully, has not had these problems for me. I tend to sit at the counter when I come to this location, because usually I'm out running errands solo when I come here, so seating is no problem. I have had order accuracy problems pretty much every time, and this seems to be because I always get the new girl who hasn't really been properly trained yet. Then when one of the other servers does a drive-by with my plate, it's wrong because it wasn't punched in correctly. And that server always picks up the slack and does a great job with service recovery. But this has been a multiple-visit problem, so there is a training gap somewhere. But otherwise, my food is always hot when it eventually comes out correctly, the price is right (usually around $6 for me alone), service is fast and my servers have always been friendly. read more

Now, the drive-thru at a Steak 'n Shake isn't quite the same as a McDonald's or BK, or Wendy's, where you are supposed to have your food rather quickly. At Steak 'n Shake they are a bit slower. But know that going in and it's not that bad, really. I love their "steak" burgers. I don't know if they're lying to me about the quality, it tastes pretty good to me. Every single time we go here they get the order wrong. Ordered a cheeseburger , Cheese fries and onion rings. Also ordered a kids meal. My burger had some weird white mushy stuff in it almost looked like potatoes. No cheese instead they gave me honey mustard. Gave me two fries when there was supposed to be one fries and one onion rings. Seems to me they were probably out of onion rings and cheese sauce so instead of dropping a new basket of onion rings and getting more cheese they threw fries in and honey mustard since it could be mistaken for cheese. Tried to go through the drive-thru. It's a little before ten pm.... I have one car sitting behind me and they refused to take our order because we had three separate orders. Their reason was they can only take two orders due to volume... You had four people in your line. Normally it's pretty fast when I use the drive-thru service. But I had to come inside. Why offer a service when you can't serve? Not too happy, I work in the industry the customer is usually right, but you do what you can to serve your customer. Ok, so my family gave this place a 2nd chance and boy the inside dinning area and bathrooms are nasty. We requested a high chair and they gave us a filthy food covered high chair, they did not even wipe it down. Food was good so use the drive-through..
