My wife and I have been eating in or going through the drive-thru since this location opened several years ago. The food is excellent, especially the salads, our favorite fast-food salads. The food is always well prepared. The service is friendly and professional. A step above what we find at other fast food places. I can't comment on the food, however as other reviews mention the service is horrible. I was getting my tire fixed next door and upon entering there was no greeting and no one in the restaurant. The woman at the front was cleaning and did come over to seat me. Without a smile, hello, or anything she said breakfast or lunch and walks away. I'm not expecting 1st class service, and perhaps she's just having a horrible day....but please don't take it out on your paying customers. Probably the slowest service on the face on the planet for such simple food and not busy at all. And even more frustrating when you see a ton of employees just sitting around chatting but we are sitting around unserved and waiting an hour for a simple meal and milkshakes. I have been to this Steak N Shake many times since it's the closest to my house. Yes, the food is greasy but I knew that before I came... to be honest that's why I like it! I wouldn't go here if I was looking to eat something healthy. I've never had to wait too long for a table and the service is always okay. Food comes up quick and prices are decent- they're basically the same if not cheaper than going to a real fast food joint. I love their milkshakes, they are thick and delicious! I will say that I have gone through the drive- thru about three times and unless necessary, I would not recommend. I have waited longer in the drive-thru for my meal than in the restaurant and I don't think the food is as good. My family just faced inequality. The food is extremely nasty and came out cold. Waiter said she would cover the bill. Then the Manager, Sean Mack totally harassed my Brother and was talking extremely aggressive. My brother kept his composure and explained the situation. This is the place I go to late at night when I want some junk to eat and if I want to take my dogs for a car ride. I always find that Steak and Shakes are better when you actually sit in and dine, not do drive thru. I feel they rush things if you order through the drive thru and food becomes bad quality. The chili is good and I love the frisco melt, but I try to say "go easy on the butter" because they seriously put a slab of butter on the bread. This location, as far as Steak & Shakes go, is not too bad. The restaurant & service staff are pretty clean cut and are very nice however the food is VERY greasy. As someone else mentioned, they like to soak their bread in butter before toasting which wouldn't be bad if there wasn't a 1/2 cup of grease dripping from the 1/8" thick burger patty (I don't know where it all comes from). The one thing I can say is CHECK YOUR CUP! My wife and I have repeatedly found pieces of potato in our drinks. I'm not sure if they store hash browns in the ice bins or what but we've had 3-4 different visits where we've found potatoes in the drinks, sad. We've also had great and horrible service and it's never consistent and there doesn't appear to be a good time of day to go for service. read more

Went in sort of in a rush to be somewhere around 1pm. The restaurant was slammed busy with customers. We came in behind a school bus full of children. They seated us after they were threw with them. The food came out quickly. Our waitress was lovely. She explained to us that this was a training store. Overall a good average experience at Steak 'n Shake. Food was good and hot. Personally, working here has been the worst experience ever. I always had to have them remake things and I was blamed for silly things. The back is a mess, not to mention with the two rat traps in the back. If you wish to eat here, make sure you watch them make it, because that's the only way you'll get it fresh. They don't care about employees (considering I'm a minor and the amount of times I was there AFTER midnight on a school night is absolutely ridiculous), and they make them work crazy hours because many are flaky, and if you're dependable, expect to be asked to come in a lot. I love Steak n Shake food. The service at this location is hit or miss. Krissie is very friendly and always provides great service. The problem I have with this location and the one by Brandon mall is the major lack of cleanliness. Every time I have gone in the last 2 years both are filthy. Almost every time I have to ask for my booth to be cleaned before I sit down. Many times the servers get an attitude when asked. I'm unsure why they try to seat people in dirty booths. I am also unsure why the empty tables and booths are typically full of dirty dishes. The window shades are filthy. Bathrooms are usually gross. Floors are disgusting. The waitress that finally sat us was rude, didn't say a word to us, didn't smile and plopped down our menus on the dirty table. She walked away and didn't even ask what we wanted to drink. Went in around 8 am on a Thursday morning. Manager acknowledged me when I walked in. I stood by the register waiting for my to-go order to be taken. After about 5 minutes a couple that finished their meal came up behind me to wait to pay their bill. A few minutes later the manager came over to the register looked past me and asked the couple if they were ready to go. I said "excuse me, I was here first." To which he replied "I will get you in a minute, after them." I told him that was super rude and left only peeking my head back in the door to ask his name which was Cameron. When the manager is wearing a sloppy shirt with stains, and he takes you to a dirty table which he wipes with a dirty rag, it doesn't sit well and if you're like me you won't be able to eat there. I went to the one on State Road a few miles away in Valrico, near the post office. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Forgot our order and with 2 kids that is not acceptable. Took over an hour to get our order because they "forgot". Manager was inexperienced in customer service. Quite literally very disappointed with @steaknshake and have slim to no doubt at all that i will not be returning neither next month nor ever again. Upon arriving to the drive through, i already notice by the 7 minutes i waited to actually move up a few feet, that something was already wrong. Fastforward another 20 mins of being trapped in the line, i finally make it to the drive through window. Once i recieved my burger and fries, i wait another 30 seconds for the Dr. Pepper i ordered with my meal, and the server finally comes back with the question: "what are you waiting for?" While i answer that I'm still awaiting my Dr. Pepper, she abruptly cuts me off to yell to an employee that's messing up orders on which i hope, is their first day. After she finishes talking to her, she closes the window and comes back yet another minute later with my Dr. Pepper. After finally getting back home i realize that ordeal wasn't the worst they had to offer. But A wrinkled burger with no garlic anywhere, and a drink with 80% ice was.
