Quick stop at the drive-through for a shake on my way home. The person greeted me very nicely on the loudspeaker and he was very friendly at the front window asking how my day was going. It usually takes a little longer at Steak 'n Shake because they make things fresh, so it took a little bit longer through the drive-through, but was certainly worth the wait. I ordered a snickers shake, it was thick and creamy made with real ice cream and tons of snicker pieces along with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Perfect end of the day. read more

Had this for lunch today. The restaurant is so nice. It's pretty big. I love the bright colors. It was definitely unique you order by a kiosk and then they call your name and number and you pick up your order. I had the garlic burger meal. It tasted so good. The food was hot and delicious. I love this Steak 'n Shake. The employees are always so respectful and polite. My boyfriend and I go here pretty often and there is always someone cleaning the tables and asking how our food is. We get the double garlic steak burger (10/10 guys). Butterfinger shake. Y'all... so good. There is sometimes a bit of a wait for the food but I understand, I've worked in a restaurant before. Let's start with the good. When I pulled into town late, Steak n Shake was open, unlike almost every other restaurant. And the food is pretty cheap... But, as they say, you get what you pay for. After reading these reviews I was concerned about eating here. The bathrooms were sparkling clean and the toilet paper was lusciously soft on my bottom. As I ordered I noticed that the person taking my order was incapable of covering her nose with her mask. Which leads me to ponder was it simply ignorance or a rebellious action. The burger I ordered was tasty. As I watched them prepare my burger I was witness to a bun tumbling to the kitchen floor. It was well within the three second rule, however was swiftly discarded. This leads me to wonder, had I driven through the drive through and had not been there to witness this ethical behavior, would the result still have been the same. I also ordered a milkshake, cookie dough to be exact. While I am thirty minutes away from the restaurant I have yet to be able to suck an ounce through the straw. The presentation was delightful. The precious soul of a man who handed it to me was happy, I felt as if I were in Chick Filet. To him I grant my appreciation for his smile and service... but what the hell did you make this out of? Never had a bad visit til today. We've always went inside and ate. This go around we hit the drive thru, which was very disappointing. Extremely long wait, most of the food was cold, and the milkshakes that we had to wait on for so long weren't even filled all the way up. Stopped here on a road trip around noon (busiest time of the day). Every table was full so it took about 5 minutes for us to be seated. When seated, we were immediately given water and our drink order was taken. She came back within 3 minutes and took our food order. Food was delivered within 5 minutes. Pretty efficient team working during the lunch rush. Bathrooms were dirty/stinky- but again, being the lunch rush, I'm sure they didn't have time to clean after every flush. read more

We ordered two milkshakes to go and waited 24 minutes to receive them. Yes they were busy, but Saturday at 8:50 PM they should expect to be busy! The person before us waited with his little boy for 30 minutes to receive his one to-go milkshake. I should have asked for our money back at the point I learned he had waited 30 minutes. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. Once we received our two milkshakes and left both cups we slippery, slimy and sticky! My milkshake was not their normal consistency and I threw it away after about 1/3 I could not take it. My husband's slipped from his hands and went everywhere in our car! The worst product I have ever paid for! We will not be back. I will be asking for my wasted money back. I can't get my time back but I can learn a lesson to NEVER go back! First of all, we just came on and while waiting to have a seat, I just saw a waitress drinking someone's soda before serving it, DISGUSTING. Then we waited 10 minutes to order our drinks and food. 10 minutes for our drinks and 10 minutes for our food who didn't come all together. I will never go back. When my friends and I walked into this establishment we had to stand and wait to be seated for 7 minutes. There were only 4 booths filled so they weren't busy. The staff would make eye contact with us and then walk away. After being seated we ordered milkshakes from our super sweet waiter and we sat and talked for a while. After about 40 minutes of waiting for our food we asked our waiter for our checks to pay for the drinks so that we could leave because it wasn't worth the wait. After we ask for the check we start hearing the wait staff yelling about us from the kitchen. Saying that they would come "beat all three of our asses" we payed for our drinks, then booked it out of there and we will never go back. read more

I've been to this particular Steak n Shake location 4 times now, without a single even average experience. The first time was drive-thru and just a chocolate shake and it took 15 minutes. The second time, it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The third time they served us the wrong order. And tonight, we stood with 2 other groups of people for 15 minutes, waiting to be seated. Not only were NONE of the groups seated, none of us were even acknowledged with a "we'll be right with you" during that 15 minutes...they wouldn't even LOOK at any of us. They kept dodging the long way around the center bank of seating to avoid us. It was so odd. After the 15 minutes, my boyfriend and I walked out. Which really sucks, cuz I really wanted cheese fries and a shake! Of course, I'm sure I'll be back because I love it and its the only one around :o( My dad LOVES Steak n Shake and there isn't one near him, so when he comes to visit, we always go. Once he said to the server, "This has got to be the slowest Steak n Shake in captivity!" to which she replied, "Pretty much!" I mean come on. EDIT: So here's a good joke for you. I wrote the above review on my phone app. We went elsewhere for dinner that night. On our way home, I decided I REALLY wanted a shake, so we hit the same Steak n Shake drive-thru. Yes it's a chain restaurant but it might be the cheapest chain restaurant in the history of chains. It was only $12 for two burgers fries and a shake. Service was terrible but the burger was pretty good. The peanut butter shake was excellent. The place was absolutely packed at noon on a Wednesday which was quite surprising. We went here for the first time while in Terre Haute. Staying at the Drury Hotel. At 11 p.m. the pace was filled - including a family with five children under 7 years old and a damn baby . At 11pm at night !! At least put your kids to bed by nine. LOL . So we sat to eat at the counter . The counter girl was great. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. Bathrooms were gross. I am a usual fan of steak and shake. But today I entered one and had the worst customer service. We walked in and waited for awhile to be seated, keep in mind we were the only ones waiting. Then the hostess came up and said, "follow me" then just threw our menus on the table and walked away in a very rude manor. Then we continued to sit there and wait on the rude staff to assist us. I stopped at this Steak and Shake during my road trip from Fort Riley, KS to Fort Meade, MD. The meal was great and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Not only did I have a good meal but as I went to the counter to pay for my meal, the manager told me not to worry about it he took care of it. I don't like accepting free meals just because I'm in the military so I told him he didn't have to do that but I appreciated the gesture anyway. He said he knew he didn't have to do it but he wanted to and he was insistent. I was not even in my uniform but he still recognized I was a service member and made a very touching gesture. It makes me feel good to know that not all business is cold and unfeeling, and that people still recognize that it is not always about money but about people. I don't know that managers name but if you read this, thanks again, you are an example and you deserve recognition. read more

We waited 5 minutes to get greeted (which is fine, perhaps she was busy) but the server gave a very audible sigh when we told her we could place both the drink (waters and shakes) and food order. She took a whopping 10 minutes just to bring out waters. It took another 35 minutes to get our food (still no shakes) and yet the bun was hard and stale and the fries were cold. She never once checked on us or offered to refill our waters (which were obviously empty when she delivered the food). We didn't get our shakes until we were ready to leave, which weren't even made correctly and were more like sundaes.
