I had a choice of two sides and chose rice and macaroni salad. The other choices were mashed potato and mixed vegetables. Your order is cooked in front of you as they have three grills set up along the counter. They give you a pager when you pay to let you know when your order is ready. FIRST TIME HERE! Got the Garlic Steak Plate, and my wife got the Steak and Shrimp Plate. I would have posted a photo, but it was THAT good. The steak we had were soft, full of flavor that didn't require any other seasoning. But if you felt that it needed something more, it comes with three different seasons/sauces to choose from. Mines came with a tiny container of salt, pepper, and other seasoning. Then it had this garlic parmesan sauce, and finally the sauce of your choice (which I chose one of their Sukiyaki Sauce. Got the #2 garlic steak bites mini bowl for about $16. A little pricey but let me tell you.. It was so good! The steak was cooked really nicely! A good medium that was very tender and melts in your mouth. I chose the garlic sauce and man, when I tell you it was so delicious! I was scooping my steak in it with each bite. There was a cabbage salad and the dressing (I think was a miso dressing) was also very delicious. I wish I took a picture of the food but I really wasn't expecting much. Usually enjoy the food here very much but today a worker really killed my love for steak teppei! I asked if I could upgrade my rice to garlic fried rice which usually isn't an issue he tells me no with the most annoyed look on his face. Was literally about to walk away but was really craving their chicken katsu so I decided ok I'll just get the white rice. Went to Steak Teppei for the first time while the family was visiting and got the Garlic Steak Bites with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. The mashed was simple yet yummy. The vegetables were surprisingly chilled but still good. But the steak. The steak was excellent. I love a good steak, but this was phenomenal, considering this was the food court at a mall. They give you the choice of about 4 sauces to go with your steak, I chose alea salt, which was simple but added more flavors to the steak. It also came with this thick, garlicky miso-type of sauce that you could dip your steak in as well, and it was like crack. I absolutely need the recipe for that sauce. The garlic steak sits on a bed of cabbage with 1 scoop of white rice and a scoop of mash. I'm hoping when I'm back to my low carb diet they can sub out those sides for a salad. I didn't ask. Things they did wrong: 1) ask the people behind me in line to take their order when I was clearly standing in line (maybe because I'm not a tourist they asked them first, but nevertheless that was horrible there was no reason to do that) I was waiting in line for 10 minutes and the man got these japanese tourists their order before mine when they were standing behind me.. 2) didn't explain the menu and rushed me to get my order 3) took 30 minutes to get my order and others behind me got their order first. 4) there was no thank you's exchanges throughout the transaction or after food was picked up. 5) horrible customer service. 6) steak was raw... they don't ask how you want it prepared. 7) it was so raw that my stomach was hurting for around 4 hours after consumption. Please save your money and go somewhere else! My husband and I spent over $40 just eat raw steak. I wish I would have taken a picture but the inside was fully red and took forever to chew. I know some people enjoy medium rare steak but this was way too Chewy and gross & I had to spit out several pieces in my napkin because it was that unpleasant. This is highly recommend restaurant in Alamoana shopping center. I didn't expect to have a very good food in food court until I found this restaurant. I ordered steak and shrimp bowl with garlic fried rice and garlic punch sauce. It was sooooo ono tasty. They cook steak fresh in front of you. The steak was very tender. The shrimp is not over cook. The price is really reasonable. If you are shopping at Alamoana shopping center. Please give them a try and you will not disappoint. Five star for the food. The service is quite good too.
