SteamWhistle is located across from the Lake County Fairgrounds in a small plaza. The cafe is always busy with customers coming and going. They offer a wide selection of coffee drinks, sandwiches, and pastries. I tried an iced white mocha with lavender and a milk substitute, which I found to be quite good. We also ordered a breakfast grilled cheese, and it was incredibly cheesy and delicious. Additionally, they have a great selection of tea and merchandise. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend checking them out; it will be worth it! You can also order ahead, which I suggest doing, especially since it was packed the Saturday we visited.

On a Sunday afternoon my toddler screamed the dreaded words from the backseat....mommy I have to go potty. So I scanned for a location we could use a toilet and spotted steam whistle and thought great I can get a tea too. The coffee shop was cute and people were there on their computer or talking with friends. It reminded me of what going to a coffee shop in the 90s was like. My son and I each ended up getting a cake pop and berry refresher drink. The cake pop was moist and really good. The berry refresher was also delicious. As we left my son waved bye and said that you everything was really really yummy.

This is a quiet location across from the lake county fairgrounds and is surrounded by a beautiful neighborhood right off of the square. This place has a cute and homey feel and is train inspired? I think. It's quiet and everyone is friendly. It seems like a valuable staple for the community. Every time I have come here the drinks have been satisfying, they have their own appeal which is refreshing when most coffee shops are kinda too similar. The sandwiches are amazing too! This is a great spot and it's always consistent.

I recently visited my best friend, who lives in Crown Point. I woke up Saturday morning and remembered no one in that house drinks coffee. Immediately, I opened up my Yelp app & discovered Steam Whistle Coffee is just six minutes up the road from her. The space is nice to have a quick coffee with a friend, and maybe even do a little business prep for the upcoming week because they offer several small tables and chairs. It's not a big enough space to offer loveseats or squishy chairs though. A large coffee to go was $3.12 which absolutely delighted me! I don't see prices like that in Indianapolis! My barista left a little room at the top so I could add my splash of cream and sugar. The self-serve table for cream and sugar and lids was very clean and orderly. Even on a bus Saturday morning, they were paying attention to these details. Looking forward to visiting them again next time I'm in town.

When I drove up it looked like I was at a costal area going into a mom and pop shop. As you walk in you are greeted with the fresh aroma of coffee and delicious food that's being prepared. Everyone there were so kind and friendly, ready and waiting to help you with your needs. I felt right at home with the coziness of the seating area and the decor was just right. Now on to the food the portion sizes were very generous and so delicious. My tastebuds were dancing in my mouth with delight, very flavorful and so savory. They also have great merchandise for you to choose from, along with a variety of gourmet items for you to take home and enjoy the Steam Whistle all over again.

Walked over to this Coffee shop after walking the grandkids to school. I've been wanting to try this place for a year.i should have done this earlier. I ordered the large vanilla Latte it was A+! The inside is super cute and clean and inviting and cozy! I ordered 2 cake pops for the grands to go ,which we they loved.Go there for your caffeine fix and support your hometown small business!

Our gluten-free Toffee Chocolate Scone ($3.75) was tasty. I had a Toffee Chip latte ($6.45) that was beautifully presented. My husband enjoyed his iced Bananas Foster latte ($6.45). We also tried the Strawberry Cheesecake Hand Pie ($6.50) but didn't really care for it. We came back recently, and I was disappointed that we were given everything in paper/plastic even though we ordered our food and drinks to enjoy there. I much prefer drinking out of glass if I'm visiting a coffee shop. My Stroopwaffle latte was quite tasty, but I didn't love the Jam Session latte. While the indoor seating can fill up, I noticed they have some outdoor tables as well. The pastry selection is somewhat limited, and I'd love to see some heartier breakfast options. Love their creative latte selection and commitment to quality.

For example, during our visit, they had sweet basil rhubarb muffins -- you might think that this combo wouldn't work. Wrong -- the muffins were delicious! Staff are always pleasant, despite having to handle large crowds, especially on weekends. Pro tip: order ahead and the items will be waiting on a pickup shelf. The vibe is modern industrial and many tables have places to charge devices. We've only been here on the weekends, and as another reviewer pointed out, it would be challenging to work here from a laptop during this timing, due to the noise. We always look forward to visiting Sparrow Coffee.

It was a little too sweet for my liking so I may try something different next time. My husband got an iced mocha and I preferred his drink. The mocha tasted authentic and not too sweet. I loved how rich it was.

It has a pretty strange location that makes it seem out of place. Just don't judge it until you go in. The prices are pretty okay for being coffee that's local and independently owned. Basically the coffee is the main thing of course. It's got kind of a small selection but they only make the best stuff. There's the basics like the lattes and a few of the specialties too. Actually can be good to not be too complicated. It's about $5 to get a specialty coffee, which isn't that bad to be honest. Also has bags of coffee beans to go. The last time in here I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte. Like drinking cereal. They also have a few pastries. It's about $2 for a croissant. The Vegan Curved Croissant is one of these. Fluffy and still has a buttery flavor. There's also a few breakfast sandwiches. Finding it can be complicated. It's located in a building on Schoolhouse Road. There's also a pizza place in the same location so after going here you can go there.
