I really like this place. Rare for me to give stars, but I've been here enough to say it hasn't failed me. Yes, some dishes are more favored, but that's personal preference. It's just a good solid establishment and not trying to be something it's not. They have specialty pairing dinners every once in a while and those can be really awesome! read more

I was so excited to try this place since the area definitely needs a restaurant like this. I stopped in tonight for take out, on a Tuesday, and the place was packed, which seemed like a good sign. When I got home and opened the brussels sprouts it was visibly undercooked. I ate 2 and confirmed they were way too hard to enjoy, so I put them in a pan and have had them in the oven for about 25 minutes now. I was very excited to try the pork belly sliders! Unfortunately, the online menu did not give indication that the sliders would be way too spicy for my Midwestern taste. The jalapeños I could pick off but they were covered in sriracha, or some other spicy sauce, and I couldn't eat them. I hope management reads this and takes note a very simple solution to avoid future disappointed customers would be to provide indication on the menu what items are spicy. Finally, I tried the goat cheese toast. Good flavors, but I was disappointed and surprised by how little goat cheese was on it. I want to like this place. There is not much for sophisticated food in the area, so I'll probably give them another shot in the future. Hopefully if I make different selections I'll find something that's a winner. read more

Food is good and drink prices are reasonable, particularly during happy hour on Monday - Friday. Burnt brisket ends were very tasty but also a little too fatty. The baked brie dip appetizer was a large portion but came with only three pieces of crostini. You could not have possibly used all of the dip with three pieces. They then charged extra for bringing some more crostini. Not a good move! read more

Highly recommend this restaurant! I found it on yelp when I was looking for a central location for our family to meet for dinner on a Friday. I was able to make a reservation and the table was available right on time. The food was FANTASTIC! They have some of the BEST cheesecurds I've ever had. They come with this super smokey blueberry dipping sauce. Let's just say, I wanted to take that sauce home with me! Cocktails were fantastic and everyone was very happy with their entrees. Also a bonus that they had an incredible live musician the night we were there! My only complaint is that it was very very noisy, but that's also to be expected on a busy Friday night. We were so excited to discover this place as we live super close and never knew about it! We had it delivered via Uber Eats.... My husband had the smoked turkey sandwich with cheese curds (~$19.00)... great portion, hearty sandwich, lots of cheese curds. I got the zoodle shrimp scampi (also $19.00) and it was very MEH. I get you aren't going to get a traditional scampi experience with zoodles (that being said, I've had zoodle dishes at Noodles that have tasted better), but where I was really disappointed was the portion size!! The photo below is after one bite... there were originally 5 shrimp total... just seemed like NOT a great value and definitely wouldn't get again and would advise others interested to try something else! read more

Great food - goat cheese toast, spicy cauliflower to start with a house soda (cucumber, lime and agave!) The menu has so many interesting choices that it was hard to pick. Lunch mates all chose different options: burger, bowls, flatbread. Looked great and tasted better. The decor was open, modern comfy chic. Very inviting! I only wish I lived closer! My birthday dinner was spoiled after learning that the "unlimited use" coupon I recently bought to support the Irondale Boys Soccer was only going to be honored by the manager one time. She was going to deduct the $12 off our bill and keep my coupon even though it stated "unlimited use through 9/31/23 (don't know when Sept will have 31 days!). Delicious and super fun menu! If you like busy and energetic atmospheres, you'll love this place! Lines were out the door to get a table, which is always a good sign. The breakfast/brunch menu is carb heavy. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. It looked great and he said it was very good. He also had a bloody mary that he very much enjoyed. I looked over the menu and could not find anything like an omelet except for on the kids menu. As I am trying hard to cut back on carbs, I always look for an omelette when at brunch. I finally ordered the kids omelet and asked to substitute any kind of vegetable for the sausage. A fair amount of time passed and the wait staff approached us and said that they were talking grief from the manager about allowing an adult to order from the kids menu. They also mentioned that I would probably not be allowed to order as such again. The wait staff next mentioned that we would be paying more for the omelet than the cost printed on the menu. I remarked that I looked for an omelet on the adult menu but did not see one. I asked the wait staff if they would suggest adding an omelet to the adult menu. The wait staff told me that was unlikely to happen. The bill arrived and 3 bucks was added to.the cost of the omelet. We shook our heads at the upcharge and paid the bill. I will not be back to s and h for brunch unless I am in the mood to indulge myself. And if I am in the mood to indulge myself at brunch, I would probably not choose to go back to steele and hops. read more

I reviewed the bang bang shrimp bowl a few .months back and bad been very disappointed in the shrimp that had been replaced in it. Grace the manager there was nice enough to offer me a free bowl if I wanted to come back and try it again. A couple of weeks ago I went back on a Sunday and was thrilled with the recent changes to their shrimp bowl. Everything including the service was great!
