We enjoyed Dukes again, but to celebrate my birthday! We love their outdoor seating options, and they were able to fit my group of 10 easily (I scheduled a few days in advance). I tried The Tuna Tartar, which was great, I wish it was more of a nacho-like meal.. but also i could just scoop it up! My husband got his staple Ahi Tuna bowl, amazing. Cute restaurant for dinner as they have fun drinks, variety of items on their menu, seasonal additions to their menu, a great indoor large bar, and large patio outdoor seating. I would give her drinks at 3/5, they're one margaritas way too sweet for me. However, were their other special cocktail was more well-balanced. They also have a great variety of beers and wines. Their food was really excellent. I will give it a 4/5. Definitely get their Reuben! This is one of the best ribs I've had in a long time. They also have a great variety of seafood, which is hard to find in the Twin Cities. I had yummy mahi-mahi tacos with a grilled taco shell (which is rare, I always get a soggy taco shell whenever I get fish tacos). Atmosphere is 5/5. They have lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Their outdoor outdoor patio is gorgeous and has an outdoor bar. They do tend to get busy on the weekend so I would arrive early or make a reservation in advance. I've been to Duke's quite a few times, and I'm surprised that I have not reviewed it previously. It is what I would call a very solid sports bar restaurant. It was fairly crowed for a week day dinner and I suspect that it usually the case. On this visit I had the full-size Thai Peanut Salad ($19) which was very tasty, with a mix of chicken, salad greens,red cabbage, carrots, red bell pepper, edamame, green onion, cilantro, and peanuts, It has a Thai peanut dressing, and is topped with crispy cellophane noodles. It was quite yummy and had a surprising (but not obnoxious) kick to it. My wife ordered a half version of the Honey Pecan Chicken Salad ($13), which salad greens, apples, craisins, sweet potato, egg, green goddess dressing, with a honey mustard drizzle. She enjoyed it equally as much. The waitress was pleasant and filled my pop without me asking (always a good sign). There is a back room for parties and large groups, as well as a side area that is more bar-oriented. This restaurant used to be the second location of the Greek Restaurant, Christos. Back in the Christos days, it was more cozy and quiet, which I miss, but then again, this is a sports bar, so I guess it's not fair to compare. Duke's had earned a place on our restaurant rotation and it's a good place to go for dependable, solid food in a restaurant that is casual and fun. read more

We sat on the patio this evening - very pleasant. I ordered the pistachio walleye w fingerling potatoes and asparagus. It was served skin-on with a cream sauce. I often order walleye at restaurants but this tasted fishy to me and my husband thought it tasted "unusual". I didn't care for the skin-on, so I didn't get the benefit of the crust. I mostly ate the sides. My husband had the sesame chicken bowl. It was very salty, too much sauce and the chicken was overdone. On a positive note, our server was very good. read more

This could be one of the best finds for a burger in the west metro. Double patties were perfectly cooked and juicy. Crispy onions provided the great textures while the fig jam added the needed sweetness. The Bleu cheese spread had the perfect creaminess and tang. The star was the thick crispy bacon that had was perfectly tender inside. Altogether a delicious bite. Protip: upgrade to the fries for $1 Overall: Great burger and fries. Even if the food would have been ok, portion control is outrageous. Never going back! Couldn't pay me to try this place again. This is the lowest score I have given a restaurant in 50 reviews. An after-work bite at dukes A favorite for us and the pups -- especially with their famous mutt loaf on the patio menu! The vibe is always laid back and inviting, which is why we keep coming back. That said, they were severely understaffed during this visit, so our quick bite turned into a longer dinner. We'd be more forgiving if the food hit the mark, but a couple dishes missed -- the ribs were a bit.... drenched... and the fish & chips were a bit too crisp for our liking. Highly recommend the igloos at Duke's on 7 for a special occasion dinner! Our group had so much fun celebrating a birthday here in a private igloo. The space is well decorated in a fun ski-chalet theme, there is a Bluetooth radio on the table so you can play your own music, and the heaters work super well so you're never cold (plus each chair has a blanket). The chicken sandwich was delicious, as were the brussel sprouts! My favorite was the fondue, it was very fitting to the theme, fun to share among our group & a large enough portion for all 6 of us easily. It has been a hot minute since I've been anywhere that has had a burger that's been great. The burgers here, are just that, great. Honestly all the food that we got was great. Maybe the best regular cheese curds we have had in Minnesota. Typically I'd say something about the price but in all honesty I felt like we got our money's worth. The food was excellent, they had a decent selection of beer and obviously a full bar, the staff were friendly, fairly quick, but not invasive. Vibe - great! Drinks - yum! Food - eh. I've visited dukes a few times and do like their expansive patio, but to be honest I wouldn't return for a meal. Drinks are great, and they have nice specials, but I've never been impressed by their food. We came in on a Sunday so got to get in on the all day happy hour -- $6 mules and margaritas, $4 Coors and rails and some food specials. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and the half order of wings and neither were that great. The cauliflower wasn't tossed in sauce, there was just sauce on the plate -- which was odd. Taste was ok but flavor was lacking. The wings were not appealing and didn't taste good. I've had similar feelings about the food at all of their sister restaurants as well. I wish I enjoyed the food more, but will likely come back for the patio and drinks in the future. Our bartender was attentive and friendly, and the greeter was quick. My mom, friend and I all tried Duke's for the first time. It was very good and the service was exceptional. I forget our servers name but she was very friendly and attentive. She checked in just the right amount of times. I ordered their blood orange marg and thought it was delicious. My mom tried the mango and didn't love it only because it tasted like an original marg and did not have much of a mango flavor. My friend ordered one of the seasonal specials they had and liked it. We tried the burrata dip and absolutely loved it. I prefer it with the toasted bread, but the other onion crisps fried pita they give is yummy on its own. I ordered the prime rib dip and the meat was nice and tender. It did have just a bit too much fat on there for me but it's okay. I'd definitely order it again. And I got it with the truffle fries. My mom ordered the pot pie and she liked it. I don't like pot pies but I thought it was good and had a nice fresh flavor. It's perfect for an individual. My friend got the Reuben with sweet potato fries. She also liked her food and said she would order it again. We will definitely be back! read more

Another really nice visit to Duke's! We came for a fun dinner date + celebrating our pup's birthday :) I made a reservation for the Pawtio to make sure we had a table and I'd recommend doing so for the summer months on weekend evenings - not every table was open so walk-ins may have a wait. I got fish and chips and I wish there was a little more fish - lots of chips/fries though. Our pup also scarfed down his Muttloaf - I think he'd give it 2 paws up! I honestly can't think of anything about Duke's that I didn't find to be excellent or above average. All our food was good-to-excellent, the service was professional in a challenging situation, and the patio area where we sat was really nice, large, comfortable, and attractive. It's covered and there are heaters, so I think they use this area year round, which is good news. It's dog friendly! And they have a dog menu! I have family in this part of the metro that comes here quite often; this was my first visit, but we had a group of ten, two of whom were babes-in-arms. We were a handful for our server Kayla, but she was completely unfazed and on point. It was lunchtime on a Saturday and she seemed like she could have handled absolutely anything, and with speed and congeniality. Tons of good food here. I've been sampling eggs benedict a lot lately, and they have a flight of three styles that were all really good... especially the Minnesota Benedict, which was made with walleye and wild rice and had a delicious flavor to it. The others were good as well. My cousin loved his boneless wings enough to demand that we all try some, and my aunt got the Honey Pecan salad she's enjoyed many times before. Another cousin got a very good burrito bowl, and yet another cousin had an amazing Shakshuka, how often do you see that on a Minnesota suburban brunch menu? Even the fries were above average. We shared a lot of pancakes, and they all tasted normal. Pancakes struggle to distinguish themselves, in my experience. I very confidently recommend this restaurant. I am sad that I live so far away from Duke's. I want to try more of their food, and I want to experience some of this food again. read more

The service was superb! We had a large group of 18 ladies arriving at different times and our waitress was excellent! We sat out on the enclosed patio with evergreen decorations and snow falling gently outside gave us some lovely snow globe ambience. We were a bit sad the heaters only had sauna or chilly settings but the staff were cool with turning them off periodically so we didn't melt. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles! Stopped at Duke's on 7 for brunch to see what their brunch specials were all about! We started off with the mini doughnuts, big hit!!! Make sure to start your meal with them. The next staple is their aperol spritz, they freeze a cube of the juice in it and let me tell you, no other aperol spritz have compared and I continue to be disappointed when I go to their other sister restaurants and they don't have it on the menu. So if you're on the hunt of the best one in the cities, it's here at Dukes! The other food was good, I personally got the shakshuka and it was great, they even gave me GF bread to go with it. Love the location, decor and how perfect this place is in the summer time. Bring your pooch to enjoy a meal outside because the outdoor patio is so darn cute with big umbrellas, faux grass and delicious drinks. They even give treats and water for the pups! Moving on to the food. We have been here many times to try their happy hour, dinner, and brunch. Their brunch menu is by far the best out of the bunch. I really enjoy their brunch drinks, breakfast burrito bowl and pork and queso smash. Their dinner and happy hour menu is so-so. Many items we have previously enjoyed when they first opened have now changed and not for the better. Here are a few examples: -Buffalo cauliflower used to be delicious but they changed the breading and now, it has no flavor. The flour batter is too overpowering -steak bowl with rice had great seasoned steak that was cut into strips and grilled/charred. Now, it's cut into cubes with no flavor and too chewy -bone-in wings were great! Now, they are fatty, not grilled enough, and for the price, not worth it For happy hour, we enjoy the pretzel sticks! Can't go wrong with those. And I'm glad they finally have drinks on their happy hour. Hopefully, they add more. Overall, we enjoy the outdoor patio and will return for brunch. read more

This was my first time at Duke's on 7, and I was quite satisfied with my experience. The waitress took our drink orders right away and was very friendly. After looking through their menu with limited brunch options I decided on the breakfast burrito with breakfast sausage mixed in. This dish surpassed my expectations and was full of flavor. It includes a multitude of ingredients including: sautéed onions, corn, black beans, diced tomatoes, scrambled eggs, cheese and served on what I believe is a bed of cilantro lime rice; also the queso blanco was rich and creamy. Despite having few appealing options to pick from, this dish delivered and I left full and satisfied. I've been there probably 20 times in the past two years so obviously I generally like Dukes on7. I usually order the Reuben sandwich with tots. They have some of the best tots in the Twin Cities when they're freshly made but lately however, both the tots and the fries have been double deep fried. I think they try to warm them up again but when you double deep fry anything it dries them out, makes them tasteless and it's a pretty terrible thing to do. And while the service is usually good the last time I was there, the server was rude and unfriendly. The atmosphere is casual and nicely done. Hopefully some of the problems I've noticed recently will go away, and it will return to its former self. read more

At the end of the day, we were looking for a place to grab dinner with the pup. Dukes on 7 stands out as one of the best options due to their pawtio and puppy food menu. We grabbed some apps, some drinks, some meals, and of course had to get Murphy some dinner to enjoy with us. To Drink: I had a Blue Lagoon slushy made with tequila, blue curacao, and some other mixins including swedish fish. It was amazingly tasty, not too sweet and I enjoyed it on the 90+ degree day. I have had many of their slushies, including the slush bucket, and they are some of the best alcoholic slushies in the cities. Apps: Cheese Curds - these bad boys are served with a hot pepper jelly and are made with only the finest Ellsworth, WI Cheese Curds. Squeaky, stretchy, and perfectly fried. The hot pepper jelly balanced out some of the greasy goodness giving a nice kick. Buffalo Cauliflower - giant pieces of cauliflower fried and served with vegan dill, carrots, and celery. A side of ranch is offered as well for those that can't handle the heat. They cover these in just the right amount of buffalo sauce so they aren't soggy and maintain some of the fried structure. Not spicy, but there is some good buffalo sauce flavors. Meal: Tail Chaser Meal Combo - Murphy had the Beef Flavored Tail Chaser dog beer with Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice Dry Food. He devoured the dry food, but wasn't the biggest fan of the doggie beer (guess he only likes human beer....). Yum Yum Bowl - Marinated steak, kimchi, sunny side up egg, coconut rice, and yum yum sauce are served in a beautiful bowl. I devoured this faster than you can say yum yum. This sauce is crazy good and don't sleep on the rice - the coconut creaminess really balances out the rest of the asian flavors.
