I was in the area and decided to stop by for a bite to eat. I've heard about Steelpan for some time now. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They weren't too busy and had seating on the outdoor patio available. Beautiful ocean view and you can hear the waves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was friendly and helpful, which is always appreciated. I ordered an old fashioned and since there weren't many gluten free options I decided on the caesar salad with a grilled chicken breast. My drink was great and I really enjoyed it. Now for the salad, I requested it with no croutons because gluten. And they brought out a salad with, you guessed it filled with croutons. The server removed the dish and said it would be done over. A few seconds later the salad turned. As I ate, might I add it was a delicious salad, I noticed croutons still in the salad which was disappointing. Food allergies are a serious thing and should be taken seriously by restaurants. Sad to say I wasn't pleased with this restaurant experience and it is not for me.

The food here is delicious, my favorite was the salmon. I also enjoyed the margaritas and my sister liked the hibiscus mocktail.

Didn't eat here but it was our first time and we have found our new favorite place to stay. The service is top notch and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the hotel is beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is located in Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach. My daughter and I went for breakfast and loved our experience. The service was amazing big and our waitress was very nice and accommodating. She noticed a mistake about my daughter not having cheese in her eggs and corrected it immediately and on her own. We returned a night later and dined for dinner with the rest of my daughters. When dining with young ladies, the food has to be a vibe! Andy was our waiter and he was the absolute BEST! Very personable, smiled and attentive to our food choices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was also calming and laid back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We would definitely return to Steelpan for more food experiences!

In honor of caribbean heritage month a couple of my friends decided to try Steelpan's happy hour. They offer a daily happy hour from 5-7. Now if you are looking for a true caribbean restaurant... this ain't it! But why am I giving them 4 stars you ask.. well bc if you look at them as a beach/vacation vibe restaurant, it hits! So that's what we are going to do! It's beautifully decorated && has wonderful view of the ocean. The staff is great! Shout out to the manger Destiny! She was AMAZING! Very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu. From the happy hour menu we order the tacos, fries, callaloo dip, bbq flatbread. The food was okay. The price point really is the appeal. I would get the coconut shrimp tacos again. The drinks were VERY good, they had several special cocktails on the menu. I definitely would go back for happy hour but mainly for the drinks & service.

Steelepan is a restaurant on Ft. Lauderdale's A1A strip that is on the smaller side but with a huge warm welcoming vibe! We checked out their Ft. Lauderdale Dine Out pre-fixe menu (similar to Miami Spice) for $45 per person. Includes appetizer, main entree & dessert. We ordered drinks & a side of yucca fries that were not a part of the options but all well worth it! Appetizers ~ Conch Fritters & Chicken Flatbread. Both amazing & freshly made. Tons of conch in the fritters! Main Entree ~ Coconut Curry Mahi transported me to a tropical island! The curry and coconut flavors were very independent of one another. The rice was saucy & delicious! We also had the 12 Hour Braised Short Ribs which was glazed with an espresso demi sauce! This melted in your mouth delicious! The sides which were mashed potatoes & green beans gave this dish a comfy home feeling. Dessert ~ Key Lime Pie was actually decent tasting adorned with a white chocolate square. The chantilly creme was light & delicious. Not many establishments can pull of a local favorite. The Lava Chocolate Fantasy was warm & rich tasting & paired so well with the coconut vanilla ice cream! Cocktails ~ the Cucumber Fizz is traditionally made with Vodka. I requested to swap it with Gin because it's a similar cocktail I make at home. It was just perfect for my palette! The Tropical Splash was like a fancy Rum Runner. Well worth the sip(s)! Service ~ our waitress Amy was fantastic! She hustled & handled a nice amount of patrons yet always with a smile! Will definitely return when we get the chance maybe for Happy Hour!

I will tell you I'm gonna owe an update because ate here. The main server kept having problems with his registration. As a result he never came to take her order. He just let us know he was having problems. My other half and I said let's go as she felt he was being rude. We didn't need to know about his problems. We just need it to have our order taken and have it delivered after things got resolved. Poor service that's all I'll say.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The jerk chicken sandwich was the bomb. Don't stay away because it's a hotel restaurant.

We sat outside and watched people jogging up the A1A and frolicking on the beach. It's a good spot to people watch. Once we were seated, we were instructed on where the food was located, and our drink orders were taken. The worst part: There are NO scrambled eggs in a heated pan to serve yourself. That leaves you with no choice but to wait in the egg line where the chef makes your eggs for you. Boooo! What if I just wanted plain ole eggs? Or, I don't feel like waiting 30 minutes in a line to have an omelet made? It's brunch, but it really serves more of a lunch menu. It is a Mexican restaurant, so that's what you'll find. There's a make-your-own taco bar, ceviche, chips & guac, etc. But I'm a breakfast person. The waffle strips tasted store-bought (and came with syrup in a little jam container), and the mac & cheese was an afterthought. Again, probably Kraft. Luckily, once you drink enough mimosas, nothing else matters. So yeah, that's where the DJ saves the day. They also had endless margaritas, but them joints tasted TART. Those little cheesecake squares were pretty good. Otherwise, I don't think I'd come back for this brunch.

The beach is right across the street, and there's something pretty special about sitting down to eat while the ocean is putting on a show just outside. We started with the goat cheese croquettes. They were good, but I wouldn't say they changed my life or caused me to immediately start planning a return trip around them. The poke bowl, on the other hand, was delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly the kind of meal that works when you're sitting near the beach and trying to convince yourself that you're having a healthy brunch. My wife's brunch was also good, and the entire experience was enjoyable. S3 is a great spot to eat, have a drink, or simply get lost in the view for a while. The food was good, the setting is beautiful, and the location is hard to beat. Four stars. A solid four stars, but not quite five. Sometimes the view is the star of the show, and at S3, it definitely knows how to make an entrance.
