Truth be told--I love this place. I love a good dive bar. I love a place that has lots of beers on tap. And I love a place where the food is 100% as you would expect it. This is a dive bar--but it misses the mark on a few fronts. First off, the pricing is a little wonky--not on most items, but in a few. I come here to get the Garlic Parmesan Wings. They're the best here. They're legitimately the main reason I keep coming back. They're the right amount of crispy + the right amount of garlic + the right amount of parmesan. And they're priced pretty well ($12.99 at the time of this posting). That said--the fries are the right amount of crispy and the right size. But--and this is a BIG but--they taste like fish. The frying oil has clearly not been changed over recently. While I love a good plate of fish and chips, I don't come here for fish and chips. So for the fries to *taste like* fish is a problem. ALSO--a moderately sized basket of fries is SUPER overpriced ($10.99 at the time of this posting). Overpriced to begin with--DEFINITELY overpriced when they taste like fish. Don't bother with the sandwiches--they're made with poor quality deli meat that I could probably get on clearance at the Gross Out (GROCery OUTlet bargain market, for those who do not yet use the nickname). The burgers I have had have tasted great--but the patties are pre-made and likely packaged frozen. So--for all of those negatives, I have to say: --the staff and service are both spectacular, --there are a few pool tables, and --there is karaoke/trivia on Friday nights. I will continue to come around--but I will likely grab a pitcher and avoid most of the food. read more

Stuck waiting for the Anderson Island Ferry? Just walk up the hill to this place for a quick drink and bite to eat. The food certainly isn't anything to write home about, and it's walk up counter service but the drinks are cold (great beer selection) and the French fries are delicious. Half of the staff was super friendly, the other half not as much but we weren't bothered by it. Sun was shining and we had cold beer and fries. What a fun afternoon after golf at the SP&G. Great weather on the patio, cool people around, including Primo the American Bully. Honestly the worst burger of my life. Ordered a simple pub burger. It came soaking wet. I mean the bottom bun was soaked through and falling apart. The excess juice and grease washed away any potential flavor and the burger fell apart into slop halfway through. Super disappointed and I wasnt expecting much. I have been stopping in for breakfast, lunch and drinks off and on since I moved to Lakewood in May 2017. The menus are not particularly large, but there is a good variety of options and I have yet to eat anything I didn't think was delicious. If you go for breakfast, do yourself a favor and order an extra biscuit -they're just yummy. I usually drink Jameson when I stop in, but have also had some Bloody Marys and while there is nothing fancy about them, they are made well and taste great. I always upgrade the liquor, but I'm sure it's good with the house too. The omelets are good sized and I am always full after breakfast and have leftovers to take home (especially because I want that extra biscuit right then and there). Regarding the lunch menu, I've made my way through some burgers, sandwiches and pizzas and again, it's all been good. Salads are also a good option. Good, decent liquor selection at the bar and the last time I was in, I saw the bar had almost completed the installation of pull tabs. There are a couple of pool tables and I've been in when there were leagues playing. There is also a family sitting area so if you have kids, it's ok. Up front by the front door is a small ice cream section for cones. There's some outdoor sitting during the summer months. Staff is super friendly and attentive, while also being laid back and giving you space. It has a distinct feeling of dive bar meets family diner and I really love that. I only just now decided to post a review as I was thinking of stopping in soon on a lunch break to have a drink and take some food to go back to work (which is also home during COVID). I can't say what, if anything, has changed since COVID in how they are operating, but when I manage to stop in, I'll try to remember to update this review. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bathroom is a little small and rundown. Not gross though by any means. I've used the restroom several times and have never been deterred, just an observation and an extremely minor one at that. And the menu could have a few more options, but again, there are some pretty great options. That's me being about as nit picky as I can be. If you like small local pubs, you're going to like this place. I know I sure do! read more

What a dump. Stopped in with a team of my staff because we wanted a safe place to have a serious discussion outside of our work environment. This was close by so we made plans, sight unseen, to meet at the Steilacoom Pub and Grill. Huge mistake. I was the first one to arrive and walked toward the back where they had round tables that had tablecloths on them. Every single table and tablecloth was filthy. I mean straight up nasty. My team arrived and they were trying to figure out how they could get some clean tablecloth because when they know I'm a germaphobe, but also nobody wanted to eat or sit at a nasty table. We decided to go out to the other side where there were no tablecloths on the tables. It was better, at least had the appearance of being a bit cleaner. We had a discussion that lasted well over an hour, but none of us ordered a drink or anything to eat. That's how scared we were to eat in this place. After our meeting we got up and on our way out the door we did leave a tip. It was a tip left because we occupied a table. And we will always do the right thing. I suppose the right thing to do for us in the future is never step foot in the Steilacoom Pub & Grill again. Recommending that you don't either unless you want to play some pool. Those folks look like they were having fun and weren't concerned about the cleanliness of the place in regard to food or beverage. read more

I'm so absolutely disgusted with this pub. I have come here in multiple occasions for ice cream. I have never been so disappointed. First I ordered chicken nachos I could have gotten from 711!!! Then had a cup of chili waited 20 minutes it never even made it to the table. We are leaving walking out with partial refund and the nastiest experience in a long time. This review is coming after a couple trips for taco Tuesday which has been super disappointing after we were hooked on them before the new owners I believe. Last time we were served the 3 smallest tacos but the bartender quickly got us each 2 more since they are supposed to come with 5, as they had always been. This time we were served 4 with 1 tiny piece of beef in them. I ate one and it was so lousy I put the other 3 all in one. Minus the tortillas since that's all the tacos were. First of all, Steilacoom is very charming, the entire neighborhood! This pub is situated across the street from an ice cream shop. This was our first time here, came for a date night. Very simple place, and I mean simple. The menu consists of pizza, sandwiches and burgers. They do have fish and chips! And I have to say the fish and chips was very tasty. We also ordered pizza, took half of it home. End it was delicious the next day! A very nice young lady greeted us at the door, and gave us menus, then told us to pick a table anywhere. Order at the counter, get a number, then either start a tab or you can pay right there. The servers are very friendly. read more

Atmosphere is loud, dirty, babies and kids running around, crying, sports on tv, playing pool all at once. The bathroom is in the worst location, a table just a few feet from the bathroom door overlooks the toilet, giving a bathroom whif every time someone uses the bathroom. Food takes way too long to get, food wasn't that great. Very disappointed in Steilacoom. Never going here again. Couldn't wait to get out of there. read more

Soup was luke warm at best. Chili had no beans in it. The restaurant was very cold inside and they forgot our chicken strips and fries. This place would be better relocated on a long and dark logging road out in the woods all by its self. Then you would just be thankful you found something to eat when you got lost. We just got lunch Steilacoom Pub & Grill before boarding the ferry to Anderson Island. We paid $110 for 6 meals. We placed our order at 1:20, and received most of it at 2:10 (minus my sandwich, see below). The chicken strips were greasy and overcooked. The fried chicken was the same. The burger was mediocre at best, and came with mayo and onions, even though it was ordered without either. The Forge sandwich was ordered with no tomatoes or onions (due to food allergies) and came with both, rendering it inedible. The veggie sandwich was served on grocery store bread that fell apart. The kids' mac and cheese was Kraft, came with no sides, and was $10. The chili had so much grease floating on it, it looked like a tanker had crashed into it. They actually forgot to give us the Forge sandwich with the rest of our order, requiring us to run back to get it and risk missing the ferry. When my daughter got back there and told them she needed the sandwich we'd paid for, and quickly, the response from the cook was, "Well, I guess you should have planned your trip better". The only pleasant part of the 6 meals we ordered was the bottled Coke and the onion rings. If I weren't on the boat for my "poorly planned" trip, I'd demand a refund of my $110. Instead, I'll dispute it with my bank. read more

The place is family friendly until 10 PM, which is great! The food is fabulous, the only issue I had was that we had to order and pay in advance of meal??? Nope, not kidding... what the heck, so every time you need an additional cocktail you need to pay again. That part we didn't impress. The food is very good, everyone in our party enjoyed the taste and flavor. I would suggest that they allow a full service instead of pay in advance type style... one more note, when you pay in advance they ask for tip amount? awkward! read more
