So if you want to guild the lily just ask. The atmosphere was perfect for an intimate couple with soft lighting, quiet music, and dark colors. The sandwiches are amazing, the quesadillas are amazing, have yet to make it there before breakfast ends but I'm betting it's probably pretty good. Staff are friendly, efficient, and do well on checking to make sure you're not waiting too long for service without being too bothersome. It gets a little loud, busy and crowded on nights especially on the weekends, but that's typical bar atmosphere. You will see beers that have familiar names from the Gig Harbor Brewing days like Dead Man's Island IPA for example but a lot of them are also brand new and offer something new from the predecessor. The Dock Street location is pretty great and a significant improvement over the previous Tacoma location as it is right off of Thea Foss Waterway, the marina there and the walkway. There is a drawback here if you are the type of person that isn't a fan of paid parking and more than likely that is what you will need to is is pay to park which you didn't have to at the previous location unless you want a long walk ahead of you which isn't necessarily a bad thing. One good thing with doing paid parking here in Tacoma is that the rates are fairly inexpensive and you can get quite a bit of meter time for a small cost. I had no issues with service like another Yelper experienced and was served in a prompt manner the two times I have been to the Dock Street location. The beers are fairly tasty and refreshing and it's a nice place to chill. If it's nice outside they have a nice space for outdoor seating and the inside isn't bad either. Between the two seating spaces one could seat quite a few people here. But onto the beers and what I thought about them thus far. Dead Man's Island is an IPA that I really enjoyed and rated quite high on Untappd. This very appealing IPA has a tropical flavor to it and is smooth in body and is Light Bodied. Harry Henderson was another one of the beers I have had recently and I liked this one fairly well. With this Brown Ale the flavor highlights in this beer are maltiness, nuttiness, bitterness and a clean finish. 4 Forest was another beer that I really liked and also rated highly on Untappd. This is a Wheat Beer which I do enjoy getting due to the biscuity or breadiness that these beers have going on. No exception to here with this beer. It's light bodied and perfect for enjoying on a warm summer day. Grand Glacier was another beer we got to try. This one is a Porter and it was good one. The roastiness as well as presence of chocolate and some coffee is all right there and we enjoyed this one considerably. After that moved into IPA territory again in which I got the Imperial IPA on two occasions... the Hop Valley IPA. This IPA also has a tropical personality as well as piney and hoppiness going on. It's a nice, smooth beer for sure. We feel like we did a well rounded experience with the beer types the brewery offers and have been quite pleased. I often walk a ways after work and a frequent destination walk is the Thea Foss area when the weather is at least somewhat cooperative so if time allows I can see myself slipping in here during my outing for a beer. I have already indulged on this temptation once and I am sure more of these after work visits will pop up again from time to time.

Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. The Washington Beer Blog states that Redd Dog is moving in later in 2026 and will be running a brewery at this location. It's a turnkey scenario. Redd Dog is already present in Tacoma as a U Pour taphouse on 6th Avenue hosting guest taps from other breweries but with them making the move here it is going to be a brewery. It's sad to see Black Fleet close. Their beers were very refreshing and they later on made craft sodas which were fantastic. They will be deeply missed!
