A birthday dinner at Zoe's Steak & Seafood proved to be a wonderful reminder of what fine dining should be. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special. The valet greeted us warmly, parked the car, and even opened the door for my wife -- a small but meaningful touch that set the tone for the evening. At the table, we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful birthday card signed by the entire staff. Shortly after being seated, John, our server, welcomed us, wished me a happy birthday, and took our drink orders. When he returned, he walked us through the evening's specials with professionalism and enthusiasm. We began with the sea scallops ($26), cooked perfectly and finished with kabocha squash purée, hazelnut, crispy sage, Honeycrisp apple, and fennel relish. The dish was beautifully balanced and outstandingly delicious. Next, we shared Zoe's Caesar salad ($14), their interpretation of the classic. Served as a split wedge with green goddess Caesar dressing, brioche croutons, chicharrón bacon, roasted tomatoes, and finely grated Parmesan, every component was fresh and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed it. For dinner, my wife selected the 7 oz Creekstone filet mignon ($59), cooked perfectly to medium rare and served with Boursin whipped potatoes, caulilini, and truffle demi-glace. It was a creative dish, and all the components worked harmoniously. She enjoyed it very much. I chose the local catch halibut ($54), accompanied by butternut squash risotto, crispy cider-glazed Brussels sprouts, beurre noisette, prosciutto, and toasted hazelnuts. The dish arrived piping hot and impressed from the first bite. The halibut was perfectly cooked, and the risotto complemented the dish beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. After such a wonderful meal, we decided to share dessert and opted for the spiced fig crème brûlée ($12). This excellent interpretation of the classic was served with apple streusel crumbles and julienned Honeycrisp apples. It looked as good as it tasted, and we both enjoyed it very much. From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. I highly recommend checking out this wonderful local eatery. You'll be glad you did -- and you'll be supporting one of the preeminent restaurants in the Virginia Beach fine dining scene.

Zoes is an easy 5 star restaurant! One of the very best in the area that I have been to. It ain't cheap, but it's not overpriced either. I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday. I made reservations through OpenTable. We showed up about 10 to 15 minutes early and were able to be seated right away. The wait staff was friendly inviting and not overly intrusive. Our waiters recommendations were on point and everything was timely. The drinks were very well made. We ordered the A5 Old Fashioned and the buttery Old Fashioned. The buttery Old Fashioned has bourbon that has infused with wagyu fat, and my God wasn't good! Buttery for sure and delicious for sure. The A5 is really good, but is more traditional as far as Old Fashioned go. The food, amazing! I ordered the Lobster and Scallop Duet, The scallops were nice and clean, they are topped with Caviar that just bought out all the flavor in the scallops. The lobster was good as well but the scallops are the star of the dish. My wife ordered the meatloaf and as our waiter said "at Zoe's is just Meatloaf". And he was right, the Meatloaf is on a completely different level than what you are probably thinking of as meatloaf. Everything was just so savory and amazing. By far the best meatloaf I have ever eaten, better than most steaks to be honest. The ambiance is nice inviting with a traditional setting, but everything was good and cozy. I would most definitely recommend that if you are reading this you make your reservations and go there either to splurge on the weekend or on your next special occasion.

Service was wonderful: since they wouldn't allow Open Table reservation for 1, I called the restaurant. I asked if they'd accommodate a table for 1 as I didn't feel like eating at the bar. The hostess checked and said that they would and took my reservation. I arrived on time and when I gave my name, the hostess immediately smiled and said "one table for Ms Mary-Ann". Mr. Tall and handsome led me to a table that was in the open facing the kitchen. Without a word he asked if I'd rather sit at a corner table away from the main dining traffic. I really appreciated the subtle suggestion probably empathetically seeing my unsaid wish for privacy. It took some time for my server Sonya to come but she apologized as she was engaged at wine table service. Food: I ordered the charred octopus appetizer and the Sea scallops entree. It came with a choice of risotto or forbidden rice. Sonya recommended the latter. While waiting, they served amuse bouche of whipped salmon and something wonderful. Charred octopus was absolutely phenomenal. I may now like Zoe's better than Luce Secondo or Ilo Bistro... top 3! Everything accompanying the octopus cooked tender was intentional: greens, light baked potato cubes, micro greens... Sea scallops that came with curry broth and forbidden rice was delicious! Scallops cooked to perfection, lean in for a waft of the dish and it's heaven. I decided to get dessert since a great restaurant typically has great desserts! I ordered the OMG carrot cake (their signature dessert am told) and an affogato which is served with their restaurant made vanilla ice cream. Definitely worth the dress up with my kitty heel Louboutin tonight to break out of my PJ's tonight!

Brought my husband here for Father's Day. Going out of town this weekend so wanted to not only feed him well, but give him an experience. Upscale dining, but well worth the price! Food and service were outstanding!!! Everything was fresh. Intimate setting.

I had the wonderful opportunity of dining at Zoes this week and it was a 10/10 experience. We had reservations for 8pm and were able to walk in and be seated right away. From the valet to the hostess, everyone was exceptionally friendly and the ambiance was perfect. Our server welcomed us in and provided us with a few complimentary slices of bread and whipped butter sprinkled with maldon salt. We were then served what was called an "amuse-bouche" which was a complimentary, single bite of a strawberry treat. We ordered a couple of appetizers along with our entrees and everything was served pretty quickly. The Charred Octopus was delicious. It very fresh and cooked perfectly. The Zoës Rockefeller was outstanding and extremely flavorful! I am an oyster lover and could've easily ate 6 more! The scallops were great and some of the biggest I've ever seen. Our server stated the they are hand picked specifically for the restaurant. The star of the show was the Miyazaki Wagyu Tenderloin! It was literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. It melted in my mouth and was the best steak I've ever had in my life. For dessert, we decided on the O.M.G. Carrot Cake and it was literally 3 slices in one, but it decadent and delicious! Before we left, we were told that there will be new menu items for the Spring/Summer and the hostess even gave me a sneak peak of the items in their new menu. Zoes is hands down, one of the best restaurants in VB. We plan on returning in the next few months to try their new menu items. Everyone was so pleasant and I highly recommend stopping in to try them out!

Celebrating my birthday with the family and this place was suggested by a fellow yelper and sure we trust a yelper. We were not disappointed. We went in on a Thursday and thankfully it's not full. We had our reservations and the parking is right out of the restaurant. That's a great blessing. The place is so wide and clean. We were greeted right away and the door opened by their staff. We were ushered in and was helped right away. We love our hostess. She was very helpful and beautiful. They were quick in serving our orders right away. The meat was soft and so good. So tasty! All of the food are good but I love the pork chop. The cakes we got at the end are so good. We will come back again. Thanks for the adventure Zoes.

I didn't know what to expect when we first visited Zoes. The reviews and recommendations I heard were very outstanding. From our visit, I can finally understand why. Ambiance: This restaurant screams upscale. Their decorations are impressive. Food: I've never been to a restaurant where they give out three complimentary food items, which was delightful. Besides the complimentary items, I enjoyed their Oyster Rockefeller the most. It is very delicious, and the presentation was stunning. As for the steak, I wished it had more flavor. Price: The price is pretty much the same as most steakhouses, however I am unsure if you have to pay for drink refills. Service: The staff will surely spoil you and ensure you have an excellent experience. They were very accommodating to us. Their service was the highlight of our visit. The best thing about our visit was that we sat at the Chef's table. We'd never sat at the Chef's table before, and it was quite an experience because we got to see how they prepared our food. All in all, Zoes is a must-try if you want an upscale restaurant experience in Hampton Roads.

Zoës was one of the most amazing meals we've had in Virginia Beach. My husband recommended it for a date night and we made online reservations easily. When you arrive, there is valet which is a nice touch. We were seated in a room towards the back of the restaurant, which is upscale and definitely a place you can dress up. My husband wore jeans and said he felt a little underdressed. They have great cocktail and wine list, we got a little of both. I started with their pear cocktail which was a bit acidic, so switched over to my normal dirty martinis afterward which was perfectly prepared. I can't pass up a martini if they have blue cheese stuffed olives! We got a few appetizers to start - the Oysters Rockefeller, the beef tartare and the foie gras. The foie gras was the only thing we ordered that we wouldn't get again. It was missing a texture variation. Everything was soft, which meant the beautiful foie gras was a bit lost. Sad, because it is usually our favorite dish! The steak tartare however, was fantastic as were the oysters! For entrees, we shared a salad and the steak frites. The steak was perfectly prepared, seasoned beautifully and was obviously a really high quality cut. The fries were also delicious. Ended our meal with the carrot cake, which isn't JUST picture-worthy, but also damn good. Overall, a wonderful date night!

It's been well over 10 years since my initial (and only) visit to Zoes. So, during Restaurant Week 2024 my husband and I decided to give them another try last night after a long break. The restaurant has recently undergone a facelift with new floors, paint, updates and an overall lightening and brightening. That was nice as I remember it being somewhat gloomy before. The menu has changed significantly and has a lot more non-steak options including a Salmon bowl, fish of the day, pasta, some vegetarian options, etc. You'll still find the same great steaks and the lobster Mac they're famous for, but we did find out that a new chef has taken over in the last two years and they've worked hard on changing the menu a bit. Of note: steaks now come with two sides. This is a nice change. Our server was delightful - super sweet and friendly - very talkative and personable - and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Always appreciated. Her name was Chantel. She was a doll. We chose to go with the Restaurant Week Menu for $45 per person with a 3-choice menu. I chose the Oysters Rockefeller, theirs has pimento cheese so that was new for me, a Cesar salad (small and served as a mini wedge), and the meatloaf with some veggies and whipped potato. Delicious. My husband chose the Oysters Rockafeller as well, a wedge salad (chopped) which was very good, and the 5oz. filet with potatoes and veggies. We chose coffee and a salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Coffee was great, fresh and hot. Their cheesecake is very traditional in style and doesn't have a crust (I like crust). My first visit here I was not super impressed - this time the spaces are cleaner and fresher, food was good (steak was properly cooked) and service was excellent (same as before). Service was excellent both times and we enjoyed ourselves. It's still pricey and 20% gratuity is added automatically to the check. Our meal was paced at around 2.5 hours so it was a looonggg time with long breaks in between.

Our first visit to Zoë's was a lovely one! I made a reservation for my husband's birthday for a Wednesday evening. They have "wagyu Wednesdays" which is half off their wagyu. A great deal for those who don't mind going over $100 on a weeknight! They made a lovely touch on the table with a birthday card for the hubs. Sadly I didn't get a photo of the steaks, which were done to perfection. However, my husband did make the comment that a steak this good should not have sauce on it and I agree. You just want to be able to taste the meat with a little bit of salt to bring out the flavor. The amuse bouche was a cucumber bite with a dill-like herb but not dill. Delicious! The house made bread was delightful! Could have had a boat full of that! The coconut Paloma was by far one of the highlights of the meal. Absolutely delicious! I would return just to have one of those at the bar. My husband had the old fashioned which was interesting; not your typical OF. The service by Dave was outstanding! He is a fantastic employee who should be held on to. Thanks for making the night special, Dave! The dock of a star comes for portion size. The sides with the steak were barely anything. My husband ordered a side of lump crab which means they skimped on potatoes. Not cool. I could also have had more potatoes on my plate. The dessert menu was a disappointment, so we went elsewhere for that. I would definitely return to Zoë's for a special occasion or just for one of the Paloma's!!!

Zoë's is one of the best restaurants we have had the pleasure of visiting! Its service, setting and food is out of this world. The valet, servers and sommelier make for an excellent dining experience. They always go out of their way to make our anniversary dinner special! Be prepared for a high-dollar experience!

Tried this restaurant for Restaurant Week 2024. Great staff and atmosphere upon arrival. Had a 7:00pm reservation and was seated promptly. Had a great view of the open kitchen and was able to see the chefs at work. For appetizers had the Rockefeller Oysters and Lobster Mac and Cheese. Oysters were superb however we didn't care for the Lobster Mac much. Next had the Caesar and Bibb Salads both were great. Main course was filet mignon, mash potatoes and veggies and added buttery crab. Felt like crab needed some seasoning. Hubby had the Sanuki Smash which was a burger, the fries with it were amazing and he raved about the burger. Overall the place was nice and the food was good. Worth the try.

I had high expectations, and somehow they still exceeded them. They're the highest rated seafood restaurant in the Virginia Beach area on Yelp, and for good reason. There was even a small wait on a Wednesday night, which honestly told me everything I needed to know before we even sat down. Our server, Jenny, was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and always seemed to show up right when we needed something. The head chef also stopped by our table and was incredibly kind and genuinely invested in making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. That level of hospitality really made the experience feel special. The meal started with a complimentary amuse-bouche of roasted golden beets, goat cheese, candied walnuts, and balsamic. It was a classy little bite that got the evening off to a great start. Then came the sweet potato biscuits with apricot jam...listen, I could've eaten an entire basket of those and been perfectly happy. For my entrée, I ordered the crab cakes with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. These are the kind of crab cakes people are looking for. They were packed with lump crab, full of flavor, and had virtually no filler. Every bite was delicious. From start to finish, everything was on point. Great food, genuine hospitality, and a team that clearly cares about what they're serving. It took me over a decade to make it back, but I can promise it won't be another ten years before my next visit. Highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived, the hostess, Milk, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. She made us feel valued from the start, and throughout the evening she continued to provide excellent service to every table she assisted. She truly deserves recognition and a promotion. Unfortunately, our assigned server provided one of the worst dining experiences I've had. After taking our food and drink order, she returned only with our drinks and then disappeared for 15-20 minutes without checking on us. My friend's daughter's entrée arrived before our appetizers, and our appetizer--fried hard chicken wings--didn't arrive until about 20 minutes later. When we asked about the delay, the server said it was because we requested the wings to be fried hard. She then made a comment about "Black people in the kitchen cooking." Whether she intended it as a joke or not, the comment was unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. Because of the poor service and attitude, we asked if another server could assist us. While Milk continued to be wonderful, another employee with purple-blue hair was also very rude when we asked for assistance. Her attitude was dismissive and unpleasant. Later in the evening, around 11 p.m., I asked a staff member near the kitchen if they had lids for our seafood buckets. She responded "No" with an attitude. I then asked if they had to-go cups, and she said they did but claimed she was off duty. Less than 30 seconds later, she went behind the bar and began making and serving drinks, which made her response even more confusing. Shortly afterward, she began arguing with my friend at our table for no apparent reason. At that point, we asked Milk to get the manager. The manager came over, sat down with us, listened to our concerns, and apologized. He explained that he was actually off that day but had come in to help support the restaurant. We appreciated that he took the time to hear us out and said he would address the issues with his staff. The food itself was good, but good food cannot make up for poor customer service and disrespectful attitudes. We wanted this to be a memorable celebration for my friend's daughter, not an evening spent dealing with rude employees. Customer service is just as important as the food. Sadly, because of the experience we had, we will not be returning. I hope management invests in better customer service training because employees like Milk show what great hospitality should look like, while others left a very negative impression.
