I broke the frames on my spare pair of glasses (backup pair) and tried Steinway eye care if they had frames that could fit my lenses are come close . Very friendly professional customer service as the gentleman who helped me was grabbing frame after frame from the display case until he found the one that would work well fitting on to my lenses which required a little cutting and what not . They were ready the next day and Cost was reasonable for the modern frames that are better then the old ones . Will give Steinway eye care shop a future visit when it's time for my next eye exam and for new glasses if needed . read more

Alert: Discrimination I tried calling to make an appointment. The person on the phone was very, very rude. They wouldn't give me an appointment just because of my deafness, but I can read and write! I don't know if I can say enough good things about this place or the selection. We were walking by this place on our way to eat and since I had a bunch of money left in my flex account I figured I should just splurge on a bunch of sunglasses. We walked in about 10 minutes before they closed-but then were told by the person who was helping us-her name is Cynthia that it was just for eye appointments. She let me try on all the frames I wanted and patiently waited for me to make my decisions. Just when I thought I was done my lady friend decided she should take a look at some sunglasses as well. All told, between the two of us we probably looked at and tried on about 10 pairs and throughout she was accommodating and helpful. While we were waiting for her to find the cases for our purchase, my lady friend pulled out her pair of glasses, which were old and loose and generally not in good shape. Sam, the optician offered to fix them or 'at least better than they are now,' which was both a good joke and an honest appraisal of their condition. He did it while we were waiting, for free and it was a complete and pleasant surprise. I was only sad that we didn't give them more of our business since they were a little further along Steinway than their competitors. I'll be sure to visit them from now on. read more

Sam and his wife were amazing to work with to select glasses. I went in considering getting a new pair, and they had such a great selection I ended up getting two pairs! After a few wears one of the pairs was uncomfortable, but the team helped me exchange them for a new pair that better suits my needs. At first I thought I liked my experience at Steinway Eye Care. The staff seemed friendly enough. But the problem came when I actually got my contact lens and glasses prescription filled and they were both wrong (despite the fact that I told the optometrist that my existing glasses were perfect and I just needed a new script). He clearly changed the prescription even though it wasn't necessary. The real problem, though, is that the customer service I have received since has been abysmal. I have emailed multiple times and have never gotten an actual response, and the cursory answer I did get was from a very unprofessional personal Gmail account. While I am still attempting to get this fixed, I will not be returning based on this experience. read more

Amazing service! I just recently moved from Miami, FL to the big Apple and my glasses had broken in half. Let's put it this way I freaked...1. I have been blind since I was born lol, always wearing glasses 2. I had a wedding I was flying to in the next couple of days to Seattle, WA. I NEEDED my glasses, URGENTLY! I don't do well with contacts (if your wondering). Luckily I was able to get a pair of new frames from the brand I purchased from originally, zero charge may I add. This was because I was using the warranty for the first time with them. I walked into the offices of Sam Pirozzolo and I was immediately welcomed by him and the rest of the staff. I had no insurance at the time so they also worked with my budget. I received my eye exam and my eyes had made a small change in perception nothing crazy, but worth getting the new lenses for my frames. They advised me the frames/lenses wouldn't be ready until Friday...Friday was my day to fly out to Seattle, WA for the wedding. I asked if they can get it done sooner, I'd even pay an extra fee if needed. They couldn't promise anything but they said they'd try. LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY, I recieved a phone call, my glasses are ready! I couldn't belive it!! I was so thankful for their extra speedy delivery and with NO EXTRA CHARGE! thank you Sam and team! I've been a long time paying customer here making my yearly visits since I was 16 wearing contact lenses and glasses. I've always been purchasing contacts and glasses from them because I loved their high end collection that insurances don't cover. Today I called ahead to schedule an appointment and they said it would not be necessary if I arrived before 6pm with a friend, giving them an additional client. They saw me and not my friend who came on my recommendation from Brooklyn even though it was only 4:45pm after my visit. I felt horrible bringing my friend who wasn't seen at all even though they had no more clients for the day. Update** I tried Acuve Oasys as a trial recommended by the doctor and I drove home realizing my vision was blurry. I thought maybe the lens weren't good so I should return back to my original Acuve 2, however the next morning I realized it wasn't the lenses that were bad, it's that she gave me a much older prescription that I had from when I visited not even last year but from the year before. I'm guessing she made that mistake while she was on the phone talking about how she had to be somewhere while performing my eye exam, which is probably why she wouldn't see my friend even though it wasn't time for them to close yet. I seriously couldn't see the signs on the highway and was flustered thinking it was the lenses. She had me throw away my good Acuve 2 that I had when I walked in because she was so confident in the Oasys so I couldn't even change them and had to stick to wearing my glasses. I got another eye exam at another eyeglass store explaining my experience here and not only did they help me get my correct prescription lenses doing what I found out is an actual REAL thorough examination but they helped me find out I had astigmatism that this doctor of course would've never figured out if she couldn't even get my prescription right and she didn't perform a thorough exam since she had to be somewhere. I didn't have this problem when I saw another doctor here for visits previous years but she was a new doctor I didn't have before and she is malpracticed to mess up my prescription and I was surprised the staff I've dealt with before could be unprofessional to a long time paying client. I also discovered the same exact high end glasses at lower prices at an actual eye care professional store, I couldn't believe the differences ! read more

Came in today needing a last minute eye exam - thought that I had another box of contacts but I was out, and needed them for work in two hours. Came in with no appointment and they made time for me, got me in and out with an eye exam and gave me a sample of my contacts so I could get through the day. Also spent a good ten minutes with me on the phone when I called back later with questions about my health insurance. Really helpful and understanding people! read more

Why I gave 2 stars. prescription of my glasses written in a very non professional way. I used to get a clear printed paper from my previous optometrist and although i asked for clearer one they never cared they just re read it for me. the glasses i think gave me good results in term of vision correction,will see over the days. I felt one of the receptionist was pushy . She did not want to give me enought time to rethink what I like more. I think its not her business how long it should take me to make my mind 10 or 30 minutes its my own option. I did one glasses with color change glasses ,with 200 frame. all ended in about 400 $ good part they gave me extra free one , I think I paid for it within the whole package I do not think I will go back. read more

I called this optical to schedule an eye vision exam for contact lenses and asked about the price. Then I called the second time and confirmed the price. It was critical to me since my insurance doesn't cover the exam. When I came to this place, I was first ignored for about 10 minutes. I was waiting and listening how one of the employees was arguing with a customer. When I received the attention, the guy confirmed my appointment. He told me that the price is DOUBLE of what I was told over the phone! Then I explained that I spoke with two DIFFERENT people over the phone and the price was twice less. He called his coworker (red hear spanish speaking lady) who confirmed that the price is double. I'm guessing that was her who I spoke to on the phone, since according to her it's only 3 people are working in the optical. I tried to figure out how that happened that I was so misinformed. She was unreasonably rude. When I was leaving the guy said: "I apologize" and the lady added: "I don't apologize". Why in the world (of customer service) she needed to explicitly state that she doesn't apologize??? I understand she could have a bad day but it doesn't mean the people around, especially clients, should be affected. She seemed not to be aware that she works in customer service. I received that much of negative in my first 15-20 minutes of being in that place. By all means I will avoid this place and will not recommend it to my friends. I'm disappointed with how this place is run. My initial appt with them was great. But the glasses I paid $60 extra for broke within months. I came into the store to buy another pair and that one also broke soon after. Then today, I came for my next eye exam and was told they don't take my insurance anymore. Keep in mind I called to make the appt and was already in their system so they should've told me my insurance was no longer accepted. I even called to reschedule and was never told anything. If anything, they acted a bit sketchy on the phone. They then proceeded to try to convince me to do the eye exam out of pocket anyway, and negotiate on a price. I'm sorry, but if I have insurance that covers 100% of the eye exam, why would I choose to pay out of pocket for an appt here where the glasses are frail and the office is not on top of things? read more

I was very happy with the service here! I went in to get glasses for my daughter. Sam attended us and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He showed my daughter different frames until she found the one she liked. When we went back to pick them up, I was very happy with how they looked. The anti-reflection lenses were of great quality. My daughter and I were very happy! The prices are also reasonable. So, soon after, when my son needed new glasses (he broke his) we went back and Sam recommended to get him the Miraflex since they were durable. We got my son a new eye prescription at another pediatric eye doctor and brought in the prescription to get filled with the Miraflex glasses. Unfortunately, when the glasses arrived, they were too big and uncomfortable for my son to wear. We went back and Dr. Shimonoff and another guy attended us. Dr. Shimonoff immediately offered to exchange and order my son smaller frames. Additionally, he noticed that my son's prescription almost doubled, which was also a concern for me since only 10 months had passed from his last eye exam. I had also noticed my son's eyes were red and he didn't want to wear his new glasses. With this said, Dr. Shimonoff immediately offered to check my son's eye to make sure he got the right prescription. Thank God he did because my son had gotten a wrong prescription--almost double more than needed! No wonder my son's eyes were red and he felt so uncomfortable! Thank you Dr. Shimonoff, you were SO helpful, kind, and patient with us. I will definitely be returning here for all my eye care need! read more
