My favorite by far was the uni toast, I was in bliss eating that. The service was good but not blow you away elevated to bring this out of casual to a higher tier restaurant when you're paying a higher tier price. This is actually a 4.5 stars for me if I could do half stars. Service/Ambiance: We made a 7 PM reservation for Thursday night. Parking is street parking, which we didn't have an issue with parking by the church/school down the neighborhood street. The interior is dark and vibey, when they sat us down they turned on the lamp on our table. Our table was a small two person table so at times it was packed with all of our dishes. They have the hand wipe that looks like a little tablet that they add water to. Though we put we were celebrating on our reservation, they didn't do anything special for it or even acknowledged it which was a bit of a bummer but I guess it's just a default field on the reservation app. Just know they won't make your night special for it. Drinks: Their drinks menu has a lot of sake options but we opted for the yuzu soju cocktail (it was so refreshing and delightful - reminded us of a calamansi juice) and the seasonal golden ale from Japan (was refreshing). I saw they had non alcoholic Suntory but I wish they had their regular beer. Small Bites: The waiter advised for two people to order 2 small bites for the table and three handrolls each. We did three small bites, three handrolls each, and a dessert. We left stuffed! For our small bites, we ordered the crispy rice, half a dozen oysters, and their most popular uni toast. The ratio on the crispy rice was perfect and I loved how there was a sliver of avocado too. It was fried perfectly and still had the white rice inside. This dish was pretty sticky and got stuck to my teeth so might not be a great option if you're on a date but it came off after chewing for a while. The oysters were fresh and standard. The uni toast though, absolutely delicious. The taste was phenomenal with all the individual components making a symphony of taste. The uni was fresh too, my girlfriend does not like uni unless it's very fresh and she enjoyed the uni toast. A must try! Handrolls: Now for the handrolls, everything blew me away. The standouts for me were (in order of my favorite to least) the salmon, seared salmon, blue crab, and the bossam! Almost everything we ordered except the scallop. Don't get me wrong though, the scallop was good it just wasn't especially tasty like the others. It came aesthetic and I loved being able to decide which ones to eat first/taking my time without having to worry about the seaweed soggy-ing up. All the fish was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The chili yellowtail wasn't too spicy. The bossam was such a unique blend of flavors and the mackerel didn't taste really fishy. Dessert: We finished the meal off with the matcha basque cake and it was a 10/10 too. The matcha wasn't overpowering and the texture was done perfectly.

I also ordered the saewoojang (marinated raw korean shrimp) as an extra one. The blue crab, yellowtail, salmon were great. The scallop was alright and spicy tuna was not my fave (it was a little too sweet tasting for my liking). The korean marinated shrimp was great but I personally just love anything Korean soy marinated (crab/shrimp etc.) and it was seasoned enough where I didn't need additional soy sauce on it. I also ordered the uni toast. The toast was beautifully prepared and it was rich tasting with the egg yolk and plenty of uni. Although I love uni, I don't think I'd get this again. As someone else reviewed, I do think the egg slightly overpowered the taste of the uni. Overall this place was a good experience and I would go back and just order a few of my fave options instead of getting the set! But it was a good way to explore which ones I liked :)

I went to Dunsmoor last night for my husband's birthday dinner (we had to make reservations about a…read moremonth ago because it's been such a popular spot) and I must say the food was really delicious, but the service was so lacking, the food was poorly timed (even after I got a lecture from my server about how I couldn't order items separately because it needed to be timed between courses.....where was that great timing?) where we found ourselves waiting around for 20 minutes between a course. The server (on my receipt the name is Austin) ALSO forgot to do the birthday candle for my husband (which i asked for and saw all the tables around us getting celebration candles - I know it's such a small detail to complain about but if everyone else didn't have an issue, why did we?) - hence my low star rating. She also kept us waiting around forever for our check that I had to flag down one of the hostesses because we waited another 15 minutes with our card out. The service was so bad and distracting so unfortunately it took away from my experience. Positives: street parking is super easy, do NOT pay for the $14 valet. The cornbread is an absolute must, the trout was absolutely delicious, the chili stew was incredibly flavorful, and the cobbler was a nice sweet end to the entire meal. I would maybe come back another time but hopefully have better service.

The fig toast was neither sweet nor savory. The bread was too tough. The ricotta pancakes were too much of a mesh of flavor as well. Lemon, with berries, with ricotta- it just didn't work well. Not sweet, perhaps even a bit bland. The skirt steak for brunch was a nice piece of meat and the hash was unique, but the runny egg in a compact plate didn't really seal the deal for me. My favorite item was the spicy arribata pasta! Boy was that fresh pasta savory, flavorful and FRESH. I'll definitely be back a couple more times to get a better grasp of over favorite menu items but I thought I'd give a bit of detail relating to the ones we tried today.
