We had been traveling all day, had checked in to the Sonesta LAX, and I needed some food. The Taproom did the job (just keep in mind the pricing is "hotel pricing" aka pricey). I ordered the French Dip that hit spot and cured the hunger pangs. Very savory and full of flavor, I devoured every bite, including all the fries. The sandwich was $28, which is expensive but we were at the hotel where food is going to be more than what you normally see elsewhere. The service was on point and accommodating by the bartender who made sure we had everything we needed between food and drinks. My wife enjoyed the Moscow Mules, which she let me take a couple of sips and I approved as they were refreshing. The spot worked for what we needed at the hotel when we were still on Eastern Standard Time.

Literally just overall a great experience. Service was fabulous, food was great! Would 10:10 recommend to any of my friends. Will come back again for sure!

It was great to see the Crowne Plaza offer a number of choice venues for dinner without leaving the property. After flying into LAX early evening, by the time we got the rental car and got settled in the room it was quite late and we really didn't feel like driving or even taking the short walk to a number of well known restaurants in the area? The hostess seated us immediately and we were greeted by our server both were very friendly and provide a very professional dinner service. We both chose the pulled Rotisserie Chicken Cobb Salad, which was unbelievably good and served in a giant bowl. the lettuce was cold and crisp, and the chicken warm and flavorful and all the topping tasted fresh, the blue cheese crumbles really made this a great salad I prefer ranch dressing with mine with a added drizzle of balsamic. The food came out quick and our server checked in on us a few times afterwards to ensure everything was ok. This is definitely a good option if you're staying on the property. I'd do it again.

This hotel bar won't blow you away, but the massive meat and cheese plate will fill you up and keep you full for a while. There was nothing crazy on the charcuterie board, but the size of the portions were huge. A bartender that can make a nice martini and Manhattan is a big plus. Solid three stars for convenience and service.

Great food! The tap has many local craft beers and their wine list is plentiful. The food selections are great and a little pricey but well worth the price. Try the Mediterranean Pasta with Jumbo Shrimp. Excellent Pesto Sauce. The atmosphere is very nice.

I checked out the Taproom, the hotel bar and bistro for the LAX Crowne Plaza, right after arriving. A nice open, clean dining room and well appointed bar. A few TVs for sports. 30 beers on tap with a good variety. The beer-snob won't be disappointed, but the regular crowd can still get a Bud Lite. A couple of folks at the bar were tucking into some very luscious looking pizzas. My antennae went up. You'd expect the eatery in a mid-range hotel to do standard "value" fare. Fries from the freezer bag into the fryer, hot, but not fresh. Short order burgers with a piece of iceberg lettuce and a slice of pink unripe tomato. Not so at the Taproom. They're doing fresh ingredients and real cooking. The next day, waiting on a delayed flight, I grabbed lunch at the bar. The pizzas here are really terrific. The dough is fresh, house made. Light and fluffy with a nice bit of chewiness in the crust. The veggies were fresh and delicious. Yeah, the sauce was a little sweeter than I prefer, but the pie was a real treat. Somewhere there is a classroom with a bunch of chefs standing on their desks shouting "Oh Captain, my Captain!" Gordon Ramsey has a tear in his eye as he turns back to thank them. Fresh food. Real ingredients. Nicely done, guys.

    Great dessert selection!

So, hotel food is hit and miss. For those who travel a lot unfortunately it's more often miss. Daniel the bartender who is excellent in every way recommended the prime rib dip sandwich with sweet potato fries. I trusted him and glad I did. Holy cow it was amazing. Prime rib shavings moist. Bun soft. Au jus amazing. Sweet potato fries as we say back in NY, fugetaboutit!! Daniel = great. Food and drinks = great. 5 stars!! Thank you for an amazing dinner!

We had a look at the cafe downstairs first but they do more takeaway foods and pizza, I wanted to sit down and enjoy Christmas lunch so we went to Taphouse. Considering it is Christmas Day the restaurant was busy. There was a steady stream of people and the restaurant was about half full the whole time we were there and we spend a few hours there eating and watching the NBA. There was a Christmas tree and a few Christmas wine specials too. Christmas music played in the background to make the place feel more festive as well. I've read many negative reviews about Taphouse and I am not sure why. We are Australian so we are use to minimum customer service in most places, this was not the case here. (This is not my first time in the US & yes I do understand that staff in the hospitality industry work hard to get tips) our waitress Cynthia was friendly, helpful by suggesting menu items and keeping us up to date with the progress of our meals and she was quick to refill empty drinks. The serving sizes were generous, we were well beyond full half way through our meals but plowed through! (For most of it!) Now the prices... This seems to have got the worst rap on Yelp reviews I have read. Again, we are Australian so we are use to paying about US$90 for what we ate here, (wings, club sandwich, burger, Coke and a beer) the bill came to about US$63 but we were given 25% off with the IHG membership. It's Christmas Day and I'm assuming there are few things open. The food here was delicious, the service great and the atmosphere good. I would absolutely recommend coming here, I really enjoyed our experience and plan on heading down again for a cocktail later too :)

    Grilled salmon fillet sandwich

My coworkers and I came here for lunch while attending a conference across the street. We were surprised at how chic and hip the decor was for a hotel by the airport. The entire vibe is great and worth checking out. I ordered the grilled salmon fillet sandwich which was a little hard to eat since it is a bun with a full fillet. The fries were standard and the house Sauvignon Blanc was okay for $10. Then again it is a restaurant in a hotel. A couple of the other girls ordered the hot pasta bar which was really good and fresh. This place gets 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up since I can't give a half star and because it has a cool atmosphere.

This place handles a large group quite nicely. I checked out the menu beforehand and was pleased with several labeled vegan options including a black bean burger, tofu stir-fry, and kale salad. Unfortunately, the waiter informed me that the kale salad was the only vegan option on the menu. While I do not get nearly as excited about a salad than a good vegan burger, it turned out to be quite delicious. I loved the lemon dressing, apples, and almond slivers. The bread, appetizers, and desserts were not vegan friendly. However, our very attentive waiter brought us a nice plate of watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple. I hope that they will expand their vegan friendly options in the future, but I was pleased with my meal and experience overall.

If you need a little help sleeping after a long day of flying then head down to century taproom. It's located in the Crowne Plaza which is a decent hotel. The food is decent but it's a pricey place. The staff is very friendly and its a mellow spot to relax and drink your life away.

Overall, our recent experiences have been solid. It's always great when an "old favorite" still feels like a good value. I miss some of the menu items like the lentil shepherd's pie, but we have very much enjoyed the hearty English breakfast. They also have a good selection of European beers on tap. Service has been friendly, but it is lightly staffed and pretty slow, so it's not a good place if you are in a hurry. They don't keep an eye on the patio, so if you sit out there, it's best to go inside and let them know. They also seem to have more rules than before - but I have to imagine these have come from experience. I don't think this is an ideal place to go with a large group. If it's a quiet night you might be able to pull tables together long-ways, but most tables seem ideal for 2-4. We come with our dog and sit on the patio when it isn't busy. The dog meals are massive (more food than ours eats in a whole day and she weighs 60 lbs). It's a good value, but beware if your dog is on a diet! Overall, my favorite thing is that genuinely feels like a pub, in that you can just come as you are and take your time without being rushed. A good fit for both locals and visitors in Pasadena.

Vibes of the pub were generally good, but our server was unexpectedly rude. Everyone inside wore wristbands designating whether they were 21+ or under 21, checked by the bouncer at the door. I already had my 21+ wristband on when I walked in, but this server still accused me of lying about my age and demanded to see my ID in front of a crowd of people. It was needlessly humiliating, and she was also curt to my entire party when taking our orders; she just seemed annoyed and irritated. That said, it was insanely busy, and I'm sure it was a frustrating shift. Just left a bad taste in my mouth, being singled out and treated like a child in front of people for no apparent reason.

The bartenders are friendly, attentive, and genuinely on top of things, which is a big reason we've kept coming back. Over time, we've even met some of the owners, and the place has always felt welcoming and well-run, even through ownership changes. That's why this last visit stood out and not in a good way. The bar was packed for the basketball games, and the staff was clearly hustling. Honestly, they could've used more support behind the bar for a crowd like that. Instead, one of the partners seemed to take on the role of... social host. He made sure people knew who he was, but didn't actually step in to help where it mattered. We've seen other partners jump behind the bar or run food when things get busy, so the contrast here was hard to miss. At times, it felt less like leadership and more like a running announcement tour. Meanwhile, the team that was actually working kept pushing through a packed house. The vibe took another hit with the TVs. With so many screens already locked on basketball, it didn't seem like a big ask to change just one on baseball. One of the bartenders even put it on, but a few minutes later, after a guest played into Mr. Big Shot's ego, he went and changed it right back. Just unnecessary, and honestly felt a little performative. We still like this place and really appreciate the staff who show up and do the work. But that interaction definitely left a different impression than what we've come to expect here.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

The tap selection was impressive -- thoughtfully curated and clearly crafted with intention. But honestly? The food is what stole the show. I always love leaning on a server's recommendations, and this time it paid off beautifully. The chicken tenders arrived golden, perfectly crispy on the outside, and impossibly juicy within. We have been to Kings Head so many times and I have forgotten to review them. We have dined there…read moreat least 10 times and for the first time we just called out order in and picked it up. The place has been around for years and most of their food is just great. It has a full bar and a separated bar area which is so cute, but gets super crowded and loud. Eat in the dinning room. The place is older and could use a refresh, but it is cute and always super clean. The service is very nice. They will take good care of you. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast is really tasty and they make great eggs. I don't care for black pudding so I never get it. They have great hot and cold sandwiches and wonderful salads. They are famous for their fish and chips. They are some of the best. They are perfectly deep fried and the chips are great. I also get a side of mashed because it is so good. I also had a pasty, which is not on the menu, and I was super disappointed, so I won't do that again. They used to be great. I love their hot beef sandwich and often get that for lunch. There is something for everyone here. Parking is a bear, but you might find a place on the street or their is a paid lot across the street. You can walk to the Santa Monica Pier from here or to the beach. We will be back again and again.

I absolutely love this place ... being a Brit it reminds me of home …read more.. Right next door is the British shop ... always end up buying from there
