The food was delicious and the service was great. I did have an early dinner but the seats filled up quite fast.

4.2 and rounded up because 'tis the season. This mom and pop shop in Forest Hills serves up tasty Nepalese cuisine; it's been around for several months and I'm glad it adds to the diversity of cuisine in the neighborhood! The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building along Austin Street with other restaurants and businesses, and I came by for dinner with a friend before heading over to the nearby Regal theater to watch a movie. Arriving shortly after 5pm on a Saturday the restaurant was empty except for one table, and we were seated right away. There are approximately 7-8 tables that seat two people, (though can be put together for slightly larger groups,) and the decor consisted mainly of framed art of Nepal. Aside from an assortment of appetizers ranging from french fries to a variety of Nepalese chillis and wings, to perhaps less well known though suitable introductions to Nepalese cuisine like sukuti (beef jerky), chicken gizzards and beef tongue, the menu features mainly momos, thukpa (noodle soup), fried rice and noodles, several curries and desserts. We ordered: - fried chicken momos $11+2 for fried instead of steamed: came freshly fried, hot and delicious, juicy inside and crispy outside, with a savory minced chicken filling. Came with a medium spicy sauce. - beef thukpa $16: this was a warm and filling dish of noodles with beef and julienned vegetables like cabbage, carrots and green onions. The beef tasted like it was somewhat preserved in preparation before adding to the dish, which was a little on the chewier side though felt intentional. Overall warm and comforting. While there weren't many customers dining in, they seemed busy with takeout and delivery orders. We waited about 20 minutes for food to be ready and asked about the timing, later the owner was kind enough to offer dessert on the house due to the wait though we didn't take up the offer since we were trying to catch the movie. Thanks for the gesture though!

Stellar Pokhara is a great spot for dinner on a cold winter night. I tried the beef thukpa and gulab jamun for takeout and both were delicious enough to convince me to return for a sit down dinner. My husband got the beef chow mein and I ordered the half & half thupka with beef and vegetable momo, which was like getting two dishes in one. We really enjoyed all of the food and left feeling warm and satisfied. The restaurant is cute and welcoming, and the servers are very kind. I haven't had many opportunities to try Nepalese cuisine and descrptions of the traditional dishes would be really helpful. I'll definitely be back!

Service here is attentive but since they had been getting a lot of postings on FB, they are definitely understaffed for the flow of customers. Definitely enjoyed the food. We ordered the chicken momos that came when a spicy sauce. Juicy and delicious. Also ordered the fried rice and chicken wings, both a huge hit. The chicken wings are freshly made. Crispy and hot. As this was our groups first time trying Nepalese food, we opted for the mixed appetizer plate we could try a little of everything. Our least favorite dish was the beef jerky curry. Definitely way too chewy. We all had a hard time chewing the jerky. Definitely a great new addition to the neighborhood.

First time at a Nepalese restaurant and it was good! Our server gave great recommendations and the veg momos were our favorite!

I ordered beef chow mein and chili chicken momos. The food momos were nice and crispy, not too spicy. The noodles were flavorful and well seasoned. I would definitely go back

I am beyond happy to see a Nepali restaurant in forest hills. I had to try this place. So, I went here for quick lunch on Saturday. I had ordered jhol chicken momo and waiwai sadeko . Since, I can't handle too much spice upon my request, they adjusted it. The jhol was divine , it was way too delicious, balanced between tangy and spicy and goes well with momo. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Highly recommend everyone to visit. The service was nice. The restaurant was neat and clean.

Wow what a changes here since my last visit, so flavorful Beef Momo, ( Probably the best around ) and typical Nepali flavored Thukpa Soup. The chowmein is mouth watering and this is the first time I finished them all . Oh yea another best CHAI TEA . Please stop by and try it. Namaste

Service was excellent. Food wasn't bad for the location. I'm glad they opened up this spot in Forest Hills. Now, we don't always have to go to Jackson Heights for momos. We tried the beef momos, it satisfied the cravings. Chicken curry was flavorful. Will definitely return to try out the other items on the menu. Chill back ambiance. Nice decor. Well priced.

Excellent new addition to the neighborhood. Flavors are distinct and stand out from the usual fare. I really enjoyed the chicken curry, but really all the dishes were excellent, and service was also top notch!

The food was fresh, well-spiced, and served piping hot. We ordered all vegetarian--chilli momos, potato with black-eyed peas, bamboo shoot curry, and dal with garlic naan and rice. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. For a bit of nostalgia, we ordered Kingfisher beer, but realized the version here in the U.S. tastes quite different from what you get in India--not quite the same experience. Overall, a solid weekday dinner. Word of caution--if you ask for extra spicy (like I did), they actually deliver on it, so choose wisely! If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try--especially for the food.

Our server was so pleasant and efficient -- he appeared to be the only person working the dining room -- I hate to write anything less than positive. But I really didn't enjoy my meal. My daughter, who's eaten at various restaurants on the strip, was also underwhelmed. We started off with steamed chicken momo (dumplings.) Served with two spicy dipping sauces, we were off to a good start. But then ... -- Chicken tikka, my frequent choice, was over-cooked, under-spiced and dry. When prepared properly the chicken is succulent and flavorful. I appreciated the vegetables from my platter which I mixed with rice, but other than that, a big NO. -- S ordered chicken thali: lentils, rice, mustard spinach, potatoes, salad, achar (a condiment of fermented fruits and vegetables), papadum and kheer (rice pudding.) We both have had better. Unlike family-run Indian restaurants I frequented on E. 6th Street -- none of which remain -- midtown restaurants are a bit more formal often requiring reservations. With no availability at a neighboring restaurant, Taste from Everest could accommodate us when we popped in. By the time we left, every table was occupied with people whose opinions, based on Yelp reviews, likely differ from mine.

We left a nice tip, as the gratuity isn't auto added. This place as classy as heck. Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly wait staff who are eager to see you have a good time, and a good meal. Spices were balanced, and the ingredients were fresh and vibrant. Herbs were bright beautiful green and fragrant. Bread was chewy and soft. If you see it, try the bottle of Montepulciano. It's a hidden gem. Garnet colour with fresh fruitiness, and subtle tannins. Also. None of the dishes were greasy. If you've ever had Indian food at a bad place, there's always a pool of oil floating on top. None of that happened here. You could taste every ingredient. Your water glass is empty? No worries. One of the wait staff was right there to fill my glass when it was less than half full. Wine glass running low? No worries. One of the wait staff swing by and refill you. Need the cheque? Make eye contact with anyone, and request it. It zooms over to your table. Music is soft and lets you hear your dining companion but not the next door table. Vegan dishes are clearly marked. The only issue I have is that the entrees don't come with rice or roti. You have to buy those separately. Idk what you're meant to eat your daal with, but be prepared to spend extra on rice. Other issue is that the heat level is very low. My companion got a meat dish, and I got a vegan dish. Both were extremely mild. Also, they don't bring onion and green chili to go with the food. It was weird to order like a Punjabi chhole dish, and have it be mild and have none of the onion/green chili that you see at Punjabi restaurants. That said, would 100% come back.

Nice spot. Meals are om the heavy side, more than you can eat. Overall very professional service.read more
