Of all the moves I've made in my life here in Los Angeles, yesterday's was the most difficult (a.k.a. the worst). My husband and I couldn't have hired a better company to help us. Space Y Moving provided the most professional and hard-working staff. In fact, we've never felt this level of satisfaction with any other moving company. The move took 8 hours. Aibek, Russel, and Aidyn were working hard the entire time. We ran into some snags with parking (downtown Los Angeles) and only one working elevator in our apartment building. (Our elevator reservation was canceled by apartment management because the other elevator was malfunctioning.) On top of that, the walk from our apartment unit to the elevator was long - and the walk from the elevator to the moving truck was uphill, outside, on a hot LA September day. Then, after all that, they had to carry heavy appliances and furniture up a flight of stairs in our new 2-story home with freshly painted walls, sharp corners, and narrow doorways. And yet, we never once heard a complaint from them. The funny thing is, that made me anxious, because it was like the elephant in the room. Can you picture their day? This is not easy work. However, they seemed to pick up on my energy because they began to crack jokes about it. It really made me feel better. Sure, it's their job, and they're being compensated for it, but personally, it's not the best feeling to watch people do hard labor on my behalf. It's an even worse feeling if they're outwardly suffering while doing it - and for this particular move, I wouldn't have expected any less. But they worked all day without even one complaint. Their mental fortitude was astounding. Prices are highly competitive. For an 8-hour move, I didn't feel like the company was ripping me off. Paying less for services means I'm left with more money to tip the employees. We tipped them generously to express our gratitude for all their hard work. We also prepared coffee for them in the morning and purchased water, Gatorade, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. We took care of them because they took care of us. Thank you, Space Y Moving. We have high hopes for this company and will recommend you to our friends for years to come. This is a very overdue review as my move was a couple of months ago. My entire experience was very stressful and uncomfortable. I was moving from one building in Koreatown, to another building a mile away. It should be expected that parking is tough and yes there's elevators that require key fobs for access. It started off fine as they were packing up fairly quickly but once we got to my new building, that's where it took a turn. The constant heavy sighs, huffing and puffing and body language made ME feel bad for having them move my stuff when Im literally paying for the service. They started to slowdown significantly to the point my friend called her boyfriend and his friend to come help unload which was a lot faster. I felt so uncomfortable and my anxiety was through the roof because the movers were just in such a bad mood, I wished I never hired movers to begin with. I think I still tipped a generous amount considering they had additional help from my friends bf and her friend.. I just noticed, a year later, the owner's response (thanks to a keen reader of my review, thank you!) Greatly appreciated, Jake, considering there are a number of business practices you would want to address. Hope they have improved since. Please note, I have been nothing but honest in relaying my experience, so allow me to add the aftermath of my review. I personally spoke to Jake regarding all that is reflected in my review. I had already paid for the nine hours and then he offered a partial refund as 'compensation'. So essentially I paid for three hours but only after all things were discussed directly with business manager and 'compensation' to me would indicate you're admitting to the fact that it was a shitshow. Or perhaps, I was expected to remove my negative review and because I didn't, Jake followed up with a narcissistic vibe of a response in the days after trying to make me look like the bad guy? I could give this business manager the benefit of doubt but here's another important detail (since we're being completely honest here). One of the movers followed up with a text, basically pleading with me to change my review as it would affect his job. They are The Nicest bunch of guy, they don't do anything slow, they are careful, reliable, and really guy people. Literally have never met a nicer and hard working group of people. They had 2 guys that really worked hard, but the other 3 just slacked. Which made the move slow, in result didn't get job done. The truck broke down and in the end they unloaded at new resident at 3:00 am. One employee broke my kitchen pier one table, it took me almost 2 weeks for them to Zelle me 100.00 to put towards a new or used table replacement. Had to rent u-haul truck to finish my move the next day. Very unprofessional finish. Instead of treating my family to have a nice move, it became a nightmare for us. If you are looking for movers do yourself a favor and just hire these guys. They were FANTASTIC! I did a Yelp project to get a bunch of quotes. Every company is about the same price give or take 10 bucks. So I was digging into the reviews. Again, all of them average out on the amount of positive and negative reviews. I ended up going with Space Y cause of their numerous response. Space Y has ZERO hidden fees. No stairs fees. No material fees. Jake the first point of contact was very quick to respond to my inquiry and I was able to book a week out for the move. The guys showed up on the dot at 10am and Alan immediately surveyed what I needed done quickly. I told him I don't really need to wrap anything since our furniture is old but he insisted that it would add much time and that it is just better to avoid damages. He was right. My list of furniture to move below. With three guys they were able to wrap, move all of this from a two story apartment to my new apartment that was on the third floor 7 miles away all at 2 hours and 40 mins! The moving van was super clean and large. These guys moved so efficiently and took so much care in not damaging our stuff. They were super nice and SO polite and friendly and even let my four year old watch them and ask questions without being annoyed haha. I seriously will be calling this crew again if I ever have to move. I've used several companies in the past and there was always some sort of hiccup. These guys were nice and fast and efficient. After researching several different companies on Yelp, we decided to go with SpaceY due to the professionalism shown by Jake at the initial meeting. Even though their pricing had changed and increased he stuck to the initial quote he had sent me which had no gas surcharge. I am glad i stuck with him since his movers Aza and Yerla are excellent! They stuck to their time and are extremely hard working. We had initially thought our move from a 1 bed apt and a 10x15ft storage unit to a 2 bed apt should be pretty quick but turned out to be 8hrs long! But both of them worked the entire time without taking any breaks and only requesting water once during the whole duration! These guys are excellent and will use them again. Only 1 negative comment - please inform the customer if you are going to smoke. We have a small daughter and try to keep her away from the smoke at all times so it's not recommended to smoke when on the job. But other than that great job! And thank you! read more
