I also saw on our local news that this store had been broken into and robbed. That was very upsetting to hear about. That made me want to visit and support this local business even more. I was warmly welcomed and one of the two owners, Kristin, came to help me. They have a nice website where you can shop and pre-order your items before picking them up in the store. Kristin was so kind and showed me all the wonderful pastries that they had available including their freshly made chocolate chip cookies that are loaded with chocolate chips throughout and on top of the cookie. It was delicious. I bought some wiskey cakes and a rum cake as well as some savory items like their sausage rolls and hobbit pie. They have a freezer stocked with savory pies and goodies for purchase. The selection of tea pots and tea cups is beautiful. They also sell a variety of loose teas. I purchased the decaf cream earl grey. Before I left I mentioned to Kristen that I saw they were having a Lord of the Rings afternoon tea on Saturday, September 19. They were sold out online and I told her I would try for next year. But, she still had a few seats available, to my surprise. I bought two tickets for my husband and myself. They offered meat and vegetarian options or if you purchase the deluxe version, you get both. Today, Saturday September 19, was the Lord of the Rings afternoon tea, and it did not disappoint. Kristin and her husband Dean, who was dressed as Bilbo Baggins, did an outstanding job with this tea. There were different courses for the event, with a lovely printed out menu for each person. The tables were adorned with a fall motif with a beautiful place setting and tea cup. There was live music and singing. These musicians/singers were so talented and made us all feel like we were part of the Shire. The harpist was a nice touch. There was a wizard named Murdoch, who did fun magical tricks for each table. He looked like Gandalf to me, so I kept calling him Gandalf lol. The food was all made on site and it was delicious. Both of us had the Wizards brew tea and it tasted like fall. The Hobbiton seed and current scones were scrumptious with clotted cream and peach preserves. The Rohan stout and barley soup was hearty and delicious. We also enjoyed the Gondor sausage rolls and Dwarven beer glazed onion and bacon on Guinness beer bread. The Buckleberry Crumble with whipped cream was a perfect ending to our meal. And before we left we were each given a Lembas bread for our journey home. An overall amazing experience. What was most shocking was that instead of trying to help, I was told to leave the store and threatened with police involvement over a prepaid cake order issue. That is not an acceptable way to treat loyal customers. This location's customer service and staff training clearly need improvement.

Not having the app align with actual inventory is unfortunate - both items being unavailable doesn't seem likely if reasonable attempts are made to sync - it must be quite delayed or only rarely synced. They asked me to cancel the order from the app. But there's no cancel function once an order is placed, so I let them know I couldn't cancel from my side. After a bit, they said they figured out how to cancel it at the store and the pending charge would go away. But 2-3 days later, the charge appeared, so I had to call the store. Coincidentally, I reached the area manager Emma and explained the situation and the incorrect charge given I never received any product. It took her a bit of time, but she saw that it wasn't properly cancelled on their side. However, she couldn't authorize a refund and would have to contact the owner Nicki to authorize the refund. She promised to get back to me within 1-2 days to confirm the refund. 3-4 days go by and the charge is still there and no callback. I call the store again, am told when she'll be there. Each and every time for 4-5 days in a row, she was never there when they said, they'd tell me when she would be there the next day, but she wasn't. So just trying to contact her to get status on the situation dragged on for close to a week. I finally get a hold of her last week on 5/14, and she said she thought it was approved, but apparently it wasn't, and she'd contact the owner again. At this point, I'm really tired of chasing people on the phone to get the status of something that they say THEY would get back to me on, so I suggest, "How about I just come in and get my original order?". I'm told, no, she can't do that because we've already started the other process (which has gone nowhere up to this point after 9 days). From a customer service, flexibility, and adaptability standpoint, that response was very poor. I'm told yet again that she'll call me back after she confirms the authorization of the refund. I really really don't understand why a $4.99 charge can't be authorized by a general manager. That seems very strange, but given I have no other choice at this point, I say fine, I'll wait to hear from you. It's now 5/21, another week gone, with zero response and no indication of a reversed charge on my credit card. This is really extremely poor customer service, any way you look at it. It shouldn't be my responsibility to chase her down again, so I'm initiating a chargeback on my credit card. Creates more work for more people now, but when a business is unable to address a simple situation like this, you're not left with very many choices.
