I'm very unimpressed with Stephens Plumbing. I called them in November to fix a plumbing and heating (thermostat) issue. They didn't fix the plumbing issue, but they did sell me something that my ex told me that I didn't need. Then, they sent an HVAC person out to look at the thermostat. It was really old and instead of replacing it, he did a little maintenance to make it work. That was fine, but when the weather turned cold (January), it didn't work again. I called them back to see if they guaranteed their work and was told that for this job since it involved "old parts" it was not guaranteed. So I feel they wasted my time and my money. read more

Galan is the best. Friendly and informative. He unclogged our kitchen sink. When he went to unclog the washing machine drain and was unable to, he didn't charge us anything. He even drew me a diagram of the major work that needs to be done and explained it in an easy-to-understand manner. He was super-clean and washed down the mess outside. Called 3 times trying to use their emergency services because we got a leak in our kitchen. I had to talk to a very rude customer service agent Natalie who has absolutely no information about pricing or when the technician can come out. We called them on Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day, then the day after Christmas. My kitchen sink is possibly overflowing with dirty dishes and they still haven't shown up. I ended up calling a different company. We really wanted to support local business but they are so unreliable and when you have an issue like leaking and plumbing issue, you need someone reliable. read more

Scheduled a sewer inspection with this company and they gave a time window between 9:00 and 11:00 am. The day before the inspection I called and confirmed everything was on track and it was. Close to 11:00 on the day of expecting they call to say their technician is running late and it will be closer to 1:00. I was ok with that as I understand unexpected things happen. Close to 1:00 they call again and say their guy will be there before 3:00. I was frustrated but agreed as I didn't really have a choice and needed the inspection done that day. About 2:30 I get a call telling me that they will be finishing and leaving from the previous client at 4:00 and will be headed my way after. They offered no discount for being 4+ hours late and when I asked about a discount I was told she didn't have the authority and I can speak to the owner another time. At about 3:45 they called back and offered a $50 discount and said their guy was on the way. I declined their offer as I didn't have any desire to give them my business anymore. The only explanation given was that they only had 2 technicians and their stuff ran over time. The reason I tried to book first spot in the morning was to avoid this issue. And then to be strung along like they did when I could have called someone else sooner is completely not cool. I booked another company and told them I was in a pinch. This other place was able to head over and help out and save me from my Stephen's plumbing nightmare. read more

I previously had a very good experience with this plumbing company in regard to my split system, which is why I contacted them again however, that was with a different serviceman. A service person named Wiliams came out to give me an estimate to hookup my washer and dryer, install a bidet toilet seat cover and run a water line for my refrigerator. It was unbelievable what he suggested, $270 to hookup washer and dryer which already had all the parts included, $270 for the toilet seat and $1029 for a water line to the refrigerator. I watched a YouTube video and connected the washer and dryer myself in 5 minutes. The bidet toilet seat cover took 15 minutes, and another plumber ran the refrigerator line for $450. I asked Williams why was the washer and dryer $270 when all the parts are already here, and he said that's why it's only $270 because you already have all the parts.....wuh? He said things are expensive, but I've also had this stuff installed before and without all the parts and I paid about half of what he was trying to charge and that was without me already having the connections (parts). I wonder if Williams over charges everyone or just women.....?? I will never contact Stephens plumbing again after this. Pathetic! read more

Eric and the team at Stephens have been proven to be friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgable. I would highly recommend them, especially given our story: About a year ago, our HVAC system stopped working. The compressor was about five years old, but the system would continually turn off and the house wouldn't cool. NRG (the company we originally bought the compressor from) told us the issue was our furnace/blower unit, so we bought a brand new one from them. Very long story short, that was the beginning of a slew of issues, none of which ever solved the original problem. We spent what added up to thousands of dollars in multiple repair calls, just trying to get the AC and heating system to work properly. We finally called Eric at Stephens, who had helped my parents with their A/C unit. He was very friendly, quick to respond, and listened carefully to our concerns. Even though Stephens is based in south LA, they made the effort to come up to our house in the upper valley. Both Freddy and Oscar came out to our house on different occasions and were both knowledgable and pleasant. They handled both the replacement of our A/C coil, as well as increasing the intake air flow to our system, which helped to fix the longstanding issue with our system shutting off. I would highly recommend this company - of three other HVAC companies we've worked with in the past year, they were the only one to correctly identify, diagnose, and repair our system. I had a leaking toilet so I called Stephen's this morning and requested to have service today or tomorrow, if possible. Williams arrived at the scheduled time, continually checked with me prior to putting in a new double wax ring and noticed the connecting wire needed replacement which he did. Williams also cleaned up beautifully and tightened a bathroom faucet I was not able to do myself. He is totally fantastic, and I will never hesitate to call Stephen's again. I'm in near tears. I just got off the phone with Jeanette following multiple rounds of trying to have a plumber come out for a leaky bathtub faucet and replacing two washing machine valves. It makes it doubly frustrating because we live in a condominium where we share water with our neighbors so we need to notify them of water being shut off. Twice now we've warned our neighbors of possible water shut off and twice now we've been unable to have plumbing service. I don't know, of the good reviews for this company, if the jobs are bigger or the areas they service are closer to their main office, or what, but I'm extremely disappointed that the kind voices who answer the phone quickly (Eric, Dave and Jeanette) aren't capable of producing quality service (or any service at all for that matter). A plus is they answer the phone promptly when calling and do come across as kind and considerate. Another plus is Jeanette was able to secure proof of insurance that we could provide to our Home Owners association to have plumbing work done. A third plus is they would come out for a free estimate. Even when a plumber finally came 30 minutes after the 4 hour window we were provided for the first service call, we weren't charged (unlike the company that usually works in our complex and told us upfront they charge about $130-170 or something just for a service call). Unfortunately, the first call they didn't come in the 4 hour window and I was the one who constantly had to call to have an ETA. The real heartbreaker is having been told by the nice plumber, Matthew, who was the one who showed up 30 minutes late the first time, that he could do the job, would ask to return for the job, but just needed to get parts and would therefore need to reschedule. Then, having come to the rescheduled date and time, after waiting over an hour for him to show, I had to call and ask about what was going on and then told that he didn't feel comfortable doing the job. When were they going to tell us this? Never? Just have us and our neighbors wait around like schmucks for 4 hours again when I was told by Jeanette we would have Matthew come out promptly at 8am to finish the job in less than 2 hours?Jeanette stated her other plumbers were on bigger jobs. Do they not realize they could have potentially ended up getting referred for up to 140 units of work had they been able to honestly provide service? Jeanette offered to have us try a 3rd time, but how can I do this to my neighbors? How can I trust them to provide service in a timely manner? Sadly, they lost my business and were awarded this review. We will be looking to another company to help us with our leaky bathtub faucet and washing machine valve replacements. read more

So I just bought a house in August 2022, a few days ago my heater died... the guy ( Rob) came here to checkout my heater and tell me" it's done you need a new one 9,500.00$$ Then I noticed he looked like the same guy at my inspection when I bought my house three months prior, he was the one okaying the heater for the previous owners... that didn't sit well with me and I said wow "you just okayed our inspection three months ago when we bought our house and now you're here three months later telling me I need a new one for $10,000??"" So... They just didn't appreciate your acknowledgment of that and being talked over, I am a first time homeowner and was asking a lot of questions that weren't really being answered.... First time calling this company for emergency service. Something inside my shower knob snapped and my water wouldn't shut off. They scheduled me for a service call around 11-2 or something and then a few hours later they called me saying that there's been a delay and they can't come until 2-4pm. Plumber arrived close to 4 and I asked him what was wrong. He literally looked for not even 15 seconds and said "I don't know but you're looking at a $300-500 repair if it's an outside issue or $1200-1400 if I have to fix something inside the wall." That is RIDICULOUS. He didn't even take anything apart to examine it, didn't spend more than 1 min to diagnose the issue fully. He just GLANCED at it. Barely touched it with his finger. How can you give me a quote that big when you don't even know what's wrong with it? And barely spent 1 min examining? This overall made me feel extremely uneasy. Then he said he had to take all the parts with him and rebuild it at home and figure it out that way, then come back another day and rebuild it possibly with new parts and what not. I was panicking about my water leaking (which was leaking since 8 am when the damage happened until he arrived) and now he's telling me he can't fix it right away. At the most he capped it so that I can have ease of mind and water will stop leaking, but I can't use my shower until he comes back. I agreed to the appointment because I felt very helpless and many plumbing companies close at 5 or 6 pm. It was also just before New Years and on a Friday so I know it'll be hard to book another appointment soon with someone else. Anyways, my dad told me to cancel the appointment because the plumber was ripping me off and shouldn't have taken the parts with him in the first place. We ended up having to rebuy everything after I cancelled the appointment which added up to $100+ and called a different plumber. This plumber was able to fix it in two hours for $300 and explained what he thought the issue was after examining for at least 15 min, trouble shooting with me, and asking tons of questions. Stephens plumbing, the plumber you sent to my house was named Galan and he is the worst plumber I have ever experienced. It made me very skeptical of the plumbing business over all. I'm very happy with the repair service that Stephens provided for our Mitsubishi ductless split system and highly recommend them for these systems. Oscar (technician) was very knowledgeable and courteous as he reset the outdoor condenser to factory settings. He explained the controller functions very clearly. The original installer set up the system locked in the cooling mode so it wouldn't switch from cooling to heating without making adjustments to the outdoor condenser. read more

Our garbage disposal started leaking only when water was flowing into it late Friday night. Since it wasn't continuously leaking, I waited until 8am Saturday to save my management company money. I called the after hours number Saturday. Gave me an excuse to clean under the sink! Eric at Stephen's Plumbing was professional, courteous, understanding and had Williams come out under 30 minutes. Williams was knowledgeable, professional, personable and communicated with me the need to wait for approval for a new disposal. It was approved, Williams replaced the disposal quickly and showed me the results. He also left me a new wrench. Eric called me to follow up on the replacement and told me how to use the wrench when the disposal makes a buzzing sound when turned on. I never knew how to use the wrench! This review is for a new Mitsubishi heat pump installation and gas furnace replacement. After last year's high gas bill during the winter I decided to replace my old attic installed gas furnace for something more efficient with AC capabilities. I already had 1 zone Mitsubishi 9K ductless unit for my office that works great. Our house has 3 bedrooms (upstairs) and a main living area (downstairs). I wanted a system that would allow me to individually control the different spaces. I got 4 bids, one of them my pervious HVAC contractor (cheapest bid). Poncho came onsite and look at everything. He was the only one that gave me a great solution to drain the condensation line.. everyone else wanted to run a long line to the bottom of the house which would not look too good. Poncho suggested we tie into the bathroom drain which was behind the same wall were the outdoor unit would be.. He came back again when I asked to look at the existing ducts for downstairs in order to re-use them. Ryan at the office was great and after some negotiation and clearing a couple things they sent me a proposal that I thought was fair. We went with a 48K BTU outdoor unit, 2x6K BTU and 1 9K BTU indoor split units and a 24K BTU air handler were we had the previous furnace to supply heat and cool to the first floor. I took advantage of a great 0% interest for 18 month finance offer and I was surprised when they told me they could install it the following week. I picked a perfect time I guess.. On Monday Poncho, Freddy and the crew arrived promptly . Some material showed up and it was time for them to look at everything and secure some supplies. The next day about 5 or 6 Vans from Stephen's plumbing showed up and a good amount of people worked through the day to do the heavy lifting stuff.. They hoisted the big outdoor unit, remove old furnace and capped the gas line, installed head units, etc.. the next 2-3 days it was mainly Poncho, Freddy and a couple other guys running lines and doing everything lese. Poncho did a great job running the electrical conduit from my panel to the outdoor unit, he did not rush and did a great job. They were all great but Poncho and Freddy were very detailed oriented. Everyone was very clean and every day before working they would protect the floor and they would clean before leaving making sure my carpet was not damaged. Freddy would always ask If I had any questions. All work was completed by Friday. The system is great.. It is super silent, you can't hear the outdoor and I have great temperature control in all bedrooms and downstairs. This is the good thing about the system.. We never use all of it at the same time so I feel it is very efficient. We did it properly and pulled permits and did HERS testing. All went fine with the inspection and Ryan is working on securing some of the California tax credits because we replaced a gas furnace with a heat pump. This week Poncho came back to install the Kumo cloud on my air handler as I wanted to be able to control it from my phone. Overall good experience during the sales portion. Mitsubishi has great warranty and I think they are better systems than Daikin and others. Stephens Plumbing also provides a good Workmanship warranty. This was a big project for me, it was not cheap, probably overkill as I could have gone with a dual zone using my ducts but I am happy with the work that Stephens Plumbing did. read more
