CAUTION: Unlicensed Activity & Refused Refund I wish there is option for NON star which this store should not have any. I am writing this to warn other consumers about my experience with Stereo Blvd. I paid $2,800 on 10/25/2025 for work that was never completed. As of March 2026, the owner (Hank) still refuses to refund my $1,800 balance and has tried to delay and postpone to complete the work on my vehicle for 5 months. According to the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), this business is operating on a CANCELLED license (see attached screenshot from DCA archives showing it was cancelled in 2009). Additionally, they are performing tire and rim installations without the required Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) registration. A formal state investigation is currently active with the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS Case #252602346). BAR (The Bureau of Automotive Repair) complaint confirmation reference number 65CF-MQX7MX for performing Wheel/Rim without license. Please verify any business license at search.dca.ca.gov before handing over your money. Do NOT make same mistake like mine and DO NOT believe in the owner's sweet talk but DO your thorough research and shopping ahead. ***UPDATE: In his response, the owner blames my Tesla's "16V lithium battery" for his failure. This is a massive red flag for any EV owner. The 16V system has been the standard in Teslas since 2022. By blaming the battery now, he is admitting he lacked the basic technical knowledge to work on my car, despite luring me into a $2,800 "parts deposit" by claiming he had done many of these before. A true professional would know that specialized EV audio components (like Alpine's Tesla-specific kits) are designed for this exact voltage. He took the money for a job he wasn't qualified to perform, stalled for weeks, and still hasn't provided a refund. Stay away if you own a modern EV. ***Now since I have filed complaint with California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and Bureau of Automotive Repair, the owner Hank response with "wait and see" attitude rather than issuing me the refund! read more

Hank was quick in his responses and was able to take my car in around my availability. His pricing was the best out of the quotes and he didn't charge every single little thing. My Corolla's radio has been broken for a while and I finally decided it was time to fix it. Got the Pioneer 3000 and his team was able connect it to my steering wheel controls and original backup camera. I needed to replace the temperature control bar and he was able to help me out with that as well. His team was able to finish the installation on time as promised. A Costly Lesson - Avoid This Shop at All Costs!!!! My experience with this business--and specifically the owner, Hank--was by far the worst I've had with any vendor in the U.S. I'm writing this review to warn others before they fall into the same trap I did. Despite the numerous glowing reviews on Yelp, my experience was nothing short of a disaster. If you want a more accurate picture, I suggest checking out the 1-star reviews here and looking up the business on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website. You'll quickly see I'm not alone. Here's a timeline of my experience. You decide if this is the kind of business you want to trust with your time and money. - 04/19/2025: I met with Hank to discuss replacing the infotainment system in my Lexus. We agreed on a Top Navi unit for $800, including labor. Instead of ordering from Amazon, Hank claimed he could get a better deal ordering directly from the manufacturer. He insisted on full upfront payment via Zelle--about $500-$600 for the part and the rest for labor. Hank seemed friendly, helpful, and trustworthy. That was my mistake. Based on his demeanor and all the great reviews, I paid him the full $800 via Zelle on the spot. He promised to call me the following week with an update and even gave me his personal cell number to schedule the installation. - Following week: No contact from Hank. I gave it another week, assuming there might be a shipping delay. - 05/01: Still no word. I texted him--no response. - 05/06: I followed up again. This time he replied, saying the part had arrived but he wasn't at the shop to check. He'd confirm the next day. - 05/09: No follow-up from him. I reached out again--no response. - 05/14: He finally replied, claiming a missing harness needed to be ordered and would arrive by 05/16. From there, it was a cycle of excuses: delayed parts, medical issues, ignored messages. I repeatedly asked for a refund, which Hank agreed to--but once again, he either ignored my messages or came back with more excuses. At this point, I considered it theft. Nothing had been done, and my $800 was gone. 06/09: I filed a complaint with the BBB. 07/31: I filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs - Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). That's when I learned this shop is not even registered with the BAR, which is a serious violation. Yet somehow, this business is still operating, continuing to take advantage of customers. Even more frustrating, both the BBB and BAR proved ineffective in helping me recover my money. As of today, 10/22/2025--six months later--my car hasn't been touched, and I still haven't received a refund. My next step is Small Claims Court. I intend to recover my full $800 and seek additional damages for the time, stress, and frustration this ordeal has caused. I have included screenshots of the text messages as proof. Only thing he is good at is lying time after time and won't take responsibility and just blame the client for complaining to much, of course I'm gonna complain when my truck was at your shop for 2 months and look how it came out, all you gotta do is look at the pictures, he ruined my interior scratched my trim and truck and won't take responsibility, also caught him lying with my speakers under my windshield I paid for them to be replaced and they weren't replaced, also won't take responsibility, my door panel is got scratched didn't say anything or got me a new one, my whole interior trim was painted black with a spray can it's already peeling off, when I confronted him his response was that's how paint cures, he apparently dynamited the back seat were the amps are to stop the rattling, that wasn't done, that wasn't even the problem causing it, the problem was where the seat hooks on, it has rubber seals which the lost and didn't put back on, a also claimed he couldn't put my stereo in the back position, the manual clearly tells you can, lastly I also did the big 3 and my battery light came on, they claimed it couldn't be taken off, come to find out they wired it all wrong it all wrong, rewired it correctly and light went away, so if you're trying to get scammed of your hard earned money and get lied to, your interior get scratched and ruined, for you to pay for parts and them not install them come to this place, they'll gladly take your money and not give it back when they get caught, pictures don't do any lying! You take pride in your customers so how come you didn't swap out my windshield speakers that you charged me for? How come you didn't tell me you left my truck all scratched. I'm rushing yours techs?last time I checked the receipt and contract we signed said 1 week turn around. It sat there for a month before I took it to Tijuana. Also you only paid for my Uber because I insisted on it you were trying to just give me store credit instead of paying for my Uber that you didn't order I ordered it because you wouldn't respond to my messages and calls, once I told you I ordered all of a sudden you answered my calls and texts. Walked into this shop without calling or notifying them of my arrival and explained how I came from Beach Auto Sound with an expensive quote for installation of Carplay into my Toyota Camry '15. I was given immediate attention and education on my options to make a solid decision on which product to choose. Hank, the owner, didn't spare any details on the different benefits of each tier up and did not make me feel pressured to get the highest ones according to the needs I made known. His quote was FAR lower than what I got earlier in the day at the other shop, and I definitely did not have any drawbacks with the cost. I came to your shop asked for a device that would work for my car; you ordered the part and said it would come in 2 weeks; yet 3 months later you had me come to the shop and had me wait 30 minutes then you told me I had to get an extra part in order to complete it. NEVER have I ever wanted or said 'Free' device from your end; I simply wanted a full refund. 2. You told me that you would refund, yet, you never did. If you truly wanted to come clean to all your Yelp reviewers, you could simply post an 'attempt' of those so called 'Refund Transaction'(s). But no, you had to keep using words like 'Oh man you CAN'T AFFORD' or 'You wanted FREE parts'. Please Hank, if only I could show you monthly bank statements I would. But this is about principle, you ordered a device that did not work for a car - End of Story. 3. If I could give zero stars I would. I had to already have my husbands speakers taken out and redone at Sorena Car Audio. The drivers side speaker kept going in and out, when they opened up the door panel the existing speaker was literally squashed and deformed in the door. When the guy went to look for the tweeters that I also said were not working he couldn't even find them. After some digging they had fallen into the dash. Got my speaker and amp installed here 14months ago. After installation was done there's his high pitch sound. I ask them about it. They said there's nothing they can do. they told me because of my stock head unit. Than they claim all stock head unit makes that sound. Which I'm fine with but why didn't they say anything about it before I got my amp and speaker installed. 14 months past. My car kept dying. Didn't know The reason why. I brought my car to the dealer and dealer said there's nothing wrong with the battery or alternator. finally I brought it back to STEREO BLVD. They told me the amp doesn't turn off after my engine is off and they are willing to fix it. But they ask me to come back the next day at 9:30 am. I wasn't please but I said ok. So I came back the next day at 9:30 am. Talk to the same guy he said" my guy doesn't get here until 10:00-10:30. He wanted me to come early.Hence I work until 7 am. I purchased an upgrade to swap out my DC Audio speakers with two 10" RE Audio SEX speakers (and boy do they "Moan" good! ;). Hank, gave me a stellar deal for $1300 and threw in DynoMat in the back of my trunk for FREE! Two year later, and my system still bumps hard and I've been using it EVERY day! I have since been back to Stereo BLVD multiple times and Hank and his team have fixed ALL of my issues and have given me a LIFETIME installation warranty as well as a 1 year warranty of the products. I called Hank and he offered an installed price on the lower end of the various shops' price quotes. It is a bit far from where I live but this shop opens on Sunday so I won't be hitting any traffic on the freeways. However, in the past I went to a local shop without checking Yelps and the installation was really bad with interior scratches and the radio couldn't pick up FM signals. Therefore, I didn't want to take any more chances with my BMW, and I would go farther to get a highly rated shop. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted and taken care of by the owners. There is no street parking, so you have to enter the driveway to reach a small back lot. Now, this place fills up very quickly starting around noon and there are cars all over the place. At any rate, my Thinkware dash-cam was installed in about one and 1/2 hour which is a pretty good time for a BMW. The install was very professional and clean, and I didn't find any damage in the leather interiors. Hank also offered Niche rims for a pretty good price, and I just need to wait for my tax refund to splurge on the Niche rims. The Niche rims were the exact design that I was looking for. After the work, I was about the pay for the labor, Hank lowered the quotes install price a bit which was a nice gesture. I will be going back for my Niche rims soon. Paid for the Sundown amp & Sundown sub package with installation in Feb. Hani said Sundown amp is on back order and loaned me a cheap amp. It has been 3 months still no sundown amp. 4 months now still no amp. I assume I am not getting it. Was not a good deal after. Did even get reimburse the difference. Give me an after taste like I been played from beginning. Can't find an honest installer now if day. Do need to reply bro. If you want to fix it just do it. If not, forget about it. read more
