Honestly one of the best espresso tonics I have ever had. I grabbed the orange blossom version early in the morning, and the way the floral citrus notes blend with the carbonation and the espresso just works so well. It is incredibly refreshing, and you can tell right away that they are using high quality beans because there is zero bitterness. The drink came out with a perfect, clean layer of espresso floating over the tonic water, showing off a really nice gradient. The space itself has lots of seating, and going on the earlier side meant I had no issues grabbing a spot. Street parking was easy enough at that hour, though I can definitely see it becoming a challenge if you show up later in the day. Definitely adding this place to the regular rotation. read more

Friendly staff, Amazing drinks, Fun atmosphere If this place was closer to where I live I'd definitely come more often. Walking in, it's a friendly and bright atmosphere, as expected from the name, with the full intention of giving you a nice indoor experience. They even have a small kid's area with toys if you want to bring your kids while you enjoy your coffee. Even the bathroom had a goofy painting while you do your business haha. The whole shop is inviting especially the patient staff, as I never felt rushed even while being indecisive with the menu. I ordered a pour over of one of their many rotating bean selections. I didn't take note of the specific one I chose but I believe it was an Ethiopian. It was a nice clear cup with some fruity notes, exactly what I'd expect from an Ethiopian coffee. I ordered dine in so it was served in a nice glass carafe with a pretty ceramic tasting cup. My sister ordered the Sweet Corn Latte from their summer menu and it was delicious. The cream top reminded me of a sweet corn snack I had when I was younger so it gave me a lot of nostalgia. I feel as though a lot of coffee shops are either good at signature flavored lattes or specialty slow bar coffee drinks and rarely both. However, I'd say this place definitely shines with both after experiencing our two drinks. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely come back to try some more. read more

I actually had plans to try another spot, but after seeing that sandwich, my friend and I changed directions and came here instead. First off, the staff was super friendly and welcoming. We ordered a Vivid coffee and another coffee that I sadly can't remember the name of, but both were really good. The only thing I wish was better was the menu display. After ordering, I noticed someone else had this cute little tray with different mini coffees and I had no idea that was even an option. I definitely would've considered ordering that if it had been shown more clearly on the menu. Food-wise, we got the veggie sandwich and avocado toast. The veggie sandwich was DELICIOUS, super fresh, flavorful, and honestly the highlight for me. The avocado toast, on the other hand, was not my favorite. It was incredibly salty. My friend and I split it, and I'm honestly glad we did because it would've been too much for one person. The ambiance here is really cute and cozy. There's coffee and then there's a place so special that other caffeine addicts go for a pilgrimage. In a city with insane options for specialty coffee, here's looking at you Kumquat/Loquat/Quat, Ondo, Comet over Delphi, Endorffeine, LAB coffee and so many others, Be Bright is a star with a very strong gravitational pull. Sure they have only a gazillion awards, from best coffee shops to competition rankings, but it's their ability to curate and rotate excellent coffee beans from around the world that remains unmatched. The baristas are knowledgeable, friendly and always ready to guide you, if you so choose. Their coffee is priced reasonably, esp. beans, and the space is inviting. The minimalist decor, bathroom art ('butt' of course, insider joke when you partake in the porcelain palace) and quick turnaround is a recommended template for other coffee shops. What I love is their consistency. They follow a recipe that is dialed in to the nuances of the particular coffee beans and it tastes great every single time. My go-to is their pour over coffee. While the kid swears by their hot chocolate. Even their cappuccino (with non dairy milk) is next level. The food (made to order fresh, sandwiches) and pastries are excellent. The staff are kind enough to share their personal stash of hot sauce. Tip: Kid friendly, with a dedicated enclosed space for toys, books and kids to hang out, while parents get their caffeine buzz. Tip: Plenty of free street parking in the neighborhood, especially. on weekends. If you are looking for insanely good coffee in LA, head over to Melrose for a pilgrimage that you will not regret. I decided to get adventurous and ordered the Bright Flight, which is basically a sophisticated trio of an espresso, a cortado, and a white peach shrub. It's a literal roller coaster for your taste buds--one second you're having a serious moment with a high-end Gesha espresso, and the next you're sipping on sparkling drinking vinegar like a fancy 19th-century chemist. To keep things interesting, I paired it with the Gochujang Grilled Cheese, which features a sesame gochujang loaf and maple confit onions. It's crunchy, spicy, and savory enough to make me rethink every standard grilled cheese I've ever had. The interior of this shop is minimalist, managing to feel both incredibly sleek and surprisingly cozy at the same time. High ceilings and a bright, open layout give the room plenty of breathing space. One of the coolest features of this cafe is that it actually accommodates families by including a kids' play area in one corner. It's a genius move that allows parents to actually sit back and relax with their coffee while the little ones stay entertained. It is rare to find a spot that treats its brewing like a science but its guests like family. The earthiness of the coffee (without tasting burnt like many other places), creaminess of the milk and additional sweetness that was not overpowering. Found this cute little cafe by chance and I'm in love. I got the vivid cream latte and it was absolutely delicious. I will say, the amount of brown sugar syrup at the bottom is a little much, no matter how I much I stirred, I couldn't get it to mix. I arrived just a little bit before it got really busy, a huge rush came through. There is limited seating if you plan on getting some work done. It's also on the louder side once it gets busy. If you're looking for a quiet place, I wouldn't really suggest this place unless you have really good noise-cancelling headphones. The wifi works great, I was there for about 2.5 hours and didn't experiencing any lag of any sort. They have a little play pen for children which was absolutely adorable. Parking, it's mainly metered parking on the street. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely grab another cup of coffee. read more

Visited here after brunch and this place was packed! This shop definitely deserves more reviews based on how busy they are. There was quite a line when I came in, and the 3 employees were definitely grinding out those drinks (a few drinks did look a bit messy but lol). I ordered just the iced latte and americano and it was pretty standard. It was nice, although I would say their coffee is pretty mild, not very strong at all, but does the job. The cafe set up here is pretty cute! I can tell a lot of moms would probably enjoy this coffee shop a lot because they have a dedicated play space for kids. So that's pretty nice to enjoy your coffee and bring the kids here to play. I did like how they had local asian products to support small businesses as well. read more

Came here after lunch on Saturday and got their fall specials - the Black Sesame Mocha. It was really good, not too sweet, and the black sesame flavor was definitely there. I dropped by to grab a quick coffee and snack with a friend, and I'm glad to know of another great spot for coffee! I was able to find street parking at around 10am on a Saturday, which was nice. There was a small children's play area, which was a cute touch! Seating was available when we first got there, but it got busier within about half an hour. I requested their vivid cream latte hot with oat milk, and they said it would pretty much be a brown sugar latte, which was fine with me. I wasn't expecting how good it would be, and I can absolutely see myself stopping by again for this. We also ordered a veggie sandwich, but since my friend is vegan, we requested no mayo. When it came out (about 15 min later), it looked like there was spread on the bottom - when asked about it, they said they added butter in place of the mayo. It seemed like an odd substitution to make without asking or letting us know ahead of time, but they offered to remake it. They did warn us at this point that it might be too dry without some type of spread. We had plans to get to, so when we realized it might be another 15 minutes for them to remake it, we turned back to cancel the request, but they said it wouldn't take long because they were making it as we spoke. It did in fact take another 15 minutes to put it together, though. I wouldn't get this again just because it didn't feel like it was worth the wait. Overall though, the coffee was really solid, and that's what they're named for, so I'd definitely come back for more coffee. read more

The drinks aren't bad, they're just not for me. I feel that they're for people who want more coffee forward, less creamy drinks, and that's the opposite from what my boyfriend and I like. He ordered the Toasted Island latte and I got the Einspanner. I've had the Einspanner at other coffee shops, and it's usually creamy and smooth, and this was more coffee, almost acidic in taste, and after a few sips, I couldn't drink it and had to toss it. My bf's Toasted Island latte could not taste any of the coconut Macadamia it's supposed to have. Again the coffee taste was almost acidic and overpowered any coconut taste, and was a more coffee forward drink. Just a few sips in, and he tossed his too. I don't know if the drinks aren't supposed to taste this way, but if it is, then I don't think the drinks are BAD, they're just not for us. We were hoping for a sweeter and creamier taste. Parking is street parking only. They have outlets and several small tables. They have a kids play area. Customer service was okay. I absolutely loved it. It does start a little bitter, but as you reach the bottom, you can taste the brown sugar syrup more prominently and I wished I stirred it prior to tasting or had a straw. I highly recommend this drink! I spent $7 with tip and read a book for about an hour. Their are multiple seats and you can see many customers on their laptops getting work done. One of my favorite finding in Melrose and have seen myself coming back multiple times despite plenty other options around the area. It's also uncountable how many times I've recommended it to others. The location's strategic being at the heart of the city, though it may mean parking can sometimes be tricky. For those with lil' kids, they do provide a nice play room so you can enjoy a bit of chillin time over great cup of joe. I do love the contemporary atmosphere it features with the artsy paintings and posters around the walls. The baristas are all very helpful in assisting you to pick your order and even accommodate customization requests. On my initial visit, I went for their signature Vivid Cream Latte, which was their version of brown sugar latte with cream top and cocoa powder. The drink that made me fell in love with this place on first try, served just at right sweetness with great brown sugar taste that nicely didn't overpower the bold coffee flavor. The cream top also came as perfect balance to the cup, which sometimes atypical one ended up diluting the coffee. On my other visits when I wasn't really feeling like having cream top coffee, I would go for their hot brown sugar latte introduced by the barista as I wanted brown sugar in my coffee but not the cream. I normally prefer medium-dark roasts but the day I got an iced cappuccino from here they were using a light-medium roasts, and even then the aftertaste of every sip was really good! I wanted to try some thing different so I tried their specialty drink, sweet corn latte einspanner. The grandmaster himself prepared this signature drink. Honestly, it didn't look well executed like most einspanners / cream top drinks. A bit sloppy. The drink itself was just okay and served half with ice. The sweet corn cream had little sweet corn cream flavor. Like, I mentioned, the drink wasn't executed well with uneven sweet cream layer and not enough for the sweet corn flavor to come out. I was a bit disappointed both and flavor and this premium drink served halfway full of ice. I'd like give this place an other chance some time soon and try something different. Ironically, I went to Be Bright Coffee for the tea instead of the coffee, but really enjoyed the tea nonetheless. I love the interior because the light comes in and the inside is very bright (no pun intended). There is street parking in front of the store and the street parking is free on holidays. It can be crowded on the weekends, but that is LA. The service really nice and the owners very personable. I was really impressed by the way the tea was served and the flavor of the honey orchid tea.
