I had a very upsetting experience at Marlowe Coffee & Eatery. I came in with my son and from the very beginning, the cashier's attitude was terrible, dismissive, unfriendly, and clearly irritated when I simply asked for a recommendation. She suggested a latte, and when I asked if they had coconut milk, she responded rudely that they didn't, with no effort to be helpful. The interaction only got worse from there. She then said, "Do you want me to take your order or not?" in an aggressive tone. At that point, I chose to leave. As I was walking out with my son, she told me not to come back. The way I was treated felt discriminatory and completely unprofessional. It was also embarrassing to be spoken to like that in front of my child. No customer should experience that kind of behavior. Marlowe has become one of my favorite cafes, and I have been to many! I just visited it today for the first time and everything was amazing. I got an americano with a blueberry cream too which was so good. The food was fantastic. I got the garden bagel, which I am definitely recreating at home! A very spacious environment with wonderful customer service. They also offer prepared drinks and lunches, from freshly squeezed orange juice to wraps. Even though there aren't many outlets around the seats, I will say their WiFi is pretty quick and their seating is very comfy in case you want to do work here. 930 an, Thursday, December 18, 2025 First time trying Marlowe Coffee & Eatery thanks to the big green machine being closed down the street! Haha. It was a short walk east and across the street from Ralph's. Watch out for drippy, leaky, ill fitting lids. This is due to the lip of the coffee cup. It wasn't manufactured perfectly smooth for a tight seal with the plastic lid. Hence the dribbling from the cup when sipping, and all over my jacket and pants. Friendly staff. The interaction with the cashier was good. I asked for a large coffee when looking at their menu and only saw a regular size for most of their choices. She said the drip coffee came in a 16 oz cup. I wasn't happy with the leaky cup & lid. Unfortunate, but moving on. I had a good convo with my colleague at the little side table with two chairs. It wasn't too busy at mid morning. I don't usually write reviews, but today I felt like I had to share this experience. This coffee shop used to be one of my go-to places. It actually reminded me of my hometown, which is why I kept coming back--even though the prices are higher than in many other places. I was always happy to pay extra because I truly enjoyed one specific drink: an Americano with their cream top, which I would purchase as an add-on. Typically, this cream is offered on iced drinks, but due to health reasons, I don't drink iced coffee, and I simply prefer my drinks without ice. Until now, this was never an issue. Today, for the first time in my life, I was refused service for that request. I was told that management recently decided not to allow this customization anymore in order to keep a "consistent customer experience." To be honest, I find this very disappointing. I've been working in marketing and customer experience for over 10 years, and this is not how you build or maintain customer relationships. Even if a new policy is being implemented, there is always a right way to communicate it. A simple solution would have been to accommodate the request this one last time and kindly explain that it wouldn't be possible moving forward. Instead, I drove out of my way for something I've ordered many times before, only to be refused without flexibility. I want to be clear--this is not about the staff. They were polite and simply following instructions. This is about the policy and how it was handled. In most places that truly value their customers, reasonable customization is not an issue. Whether it's removing an ingredient from a dish or adjusting a drink, small accommodations go a long way in building loyalty. Unfortunately, this experience left me disappointed. read more

I also had a croissant, which was good, and a chocolate chip cookie, and that was great, especially after I heated it up at home. As for the place itself, it was clean, had a bunch of chairs inside and out front. Though when I went -- 11am on a Thursday -- everything inside was taken, and the outside was filling up fast. The staff were also friendly and my latte came out quick. Parking, however, could be tricky, as it's Wilshire, and while you can usually find a metered spot out front, or a freebie on a side street, you need to be mindful of the meter and the parking restrictions. read more

The food is great! We ordered the garden bagel on an everything bagel and it was salted perfectly! The cream cheese tasted perfectly on bagel and the avocado on top was delicious. The bagel avocado had great avocado spread and the cheese on top tasted delicious. It was soft and chewy! The drinks we ordered also tasted great. The ice peach tea was a little bit too sweet so we added some water and the rose sparkling lemonade tasted good. You can taste the hints of rose in it and the lemonade wasn't too sour which I was initially worried about. The server was really nice in taking our order! She was really patient and kind in calling out our orders! The atmosphere of the cafe is also pleasant with plenty of seating. As a new spot in the neighborhood I've given this place a few chances. Unfortunately almost every visit is met with a rude worker, them not being prepared and making a big thing about it as if it's not their job or changing their tune. Today I decided to give them a last chance. I ask for something shaken which I've gotten about 5 times there already and the worker tells me "we don't shake things". A. That's not correct. It clearly depends on the staff. B. If I'm paying $8-10 you can shake it. That's not hard. Their goal is clearly to be a cutesy snobby shop where people come and work during the day. They couldn't care less about the morning coffee crowd. Thankfully there is better option in Savor now anyways. I've literally had people huff and puff in Marlowe if they're not ready. I've been coming here pretty frequently since it first opened. I was really excited to have a cute cafe walking distance from me. The space has a nice design with multiple seating options both indoor and out front. It does get pretty busy during peak hours with people working from the cafe so finding a seat is pretty difficult sometimes. I love their egg white wrap although it does sell out fast! The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because they recently changed the matcha they use and it is a big difference. The recently-opened Marlowe Coffee located in Mid-Wilshire has a classy yet minimalist decor, with both tables that are well-sized for working and also a cute couch for yapping. The mirrors on the wall add a nice homey touch to the space. We got there around 9 a.m. and we were able to easily find seats, although it does get busier later in the day. The table height is a little low for working, although the height varies a lot depending on the table and which side you sit on. Their menu is simple with just your most traditional coffee and matcha offerings, but that's perfect for my indecisiveness. My friend got the Marlowe and I got their latte, and we both agreed that it was a nice coffee drink with chocolatey notes that is well-complimented by their milk. ( think they use Clover milk and Califia Farms Barista Blend.) The cherry on top was that the WiFi was outstandingly fast (500 Mbps), some tables had outlets, and the barista was so nice!
