Such a cool cafe with yummy tea lattes. The L.A. cafe scene is the equivalent of Seoul's. Every hood has their own variety of cafes. I had a lazy morning in Melrose exploring and chose to stop by Flowin with their great reviews and early open time (compared to others). I was looking specifically for matcha since I don't do coffee, and was so intrigued by their menu offerings. I got their strawberry matcha, but they're famous for their "boosters" like for mood, concentration, etc. I went with the booster already included in the classic strawberry matcha. It didn't taste different from a regular straw matcha so I'm glad there wasn't a change to the flavor. I would say probably my top 3/4 fave cafe I visited in L.A. The staff are kind and efficient. She was patient with me while I stressed over the menu. Gone are the days of a simple matcha latte, now there's boosters, creams, different flavors, oh my! There were a lot of seating options inside for solo, duo, or larger groups. They have a restroom for customers and strong wifi. There were a few outdoor tables giving picnic vibes. Flowin Cafe is exactly the kind of Melrose coffee shop I'm always hoping to stumble into: good drinks, easy vibe, friendly people, and enough laptop energy that you don't feel like a menace for opening yours. I stopped in for an iced matcha latte, which was smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet. But the real plot twist was the pastel de nata. They warmed it up for me, and honestly, that little Portuguese egg tart may be the reason I become a regular. Flaky, custardy, lightly caramelized, and delicious in the way that makes you immediately start negotiating with yourself about whether ordering a second one is "research." The whole place has a relaxed, neighborhood-y feel even though it's sitting on Melrose, where "relaxed" can sometimes mean "you are standing next to a $400 candle and everyone is pretending not to judge your shoes." Flowin Cafe feels much more approachable. The staff was genuinely friendly, and the place gave off a family-run kind of warmth, which goes a long way in a city where some coffee shops act like they're doing you a favor by letting you pay $8 for caffeine. There were plenty of people working on laptops, so it seems like a solid spot to post up for a bit, answer emails, pretend to write something important, or actually get work done if you're one of those people. Bonus points: I found street parking without a whole saga, which on Melrose feels like winning a small municipal lottery. I can definitely see myself coming back here often, especially for that warmed-up pastel de nata. Actually stopped by this location twice because of a pop up. I wanted to get a full experience before conducting a review and I must say, they have pretty good matcha, but they can work on their service better. The first time, We came for a pop up so it was quite a bit of influx of people and the cafe isn't that large. The staff member informed us the pop ip was still happening and the promotion and product was available, until a male who may be the owner or manager came to the counter and told us in as nasty tone there was none available. We did ask for clarification because of the mixed information and he repeated loudly in a rude tone "WELL I just checked and IM SAYING THERE IS NO MORE". We were surprised and still ordered anyways. If it wasn't for one of their regulars who we just met "Brandon" who gave this place raving reviews of good people and good drinks, we would have taken our money elsewhere, but we decided to give it a second chance. I ordered the strawberry banana matcha and it was DIVINE! Great taste and it wasn't overly sweet. We came back a second time and it was better service than before and the drinks were still good. The second time I ordered their mango matcha which was really sweet but still good, just preferred to taste more mango. If I could add, I would suggest not conducting a community event and collab if you can't work under pressure with the influx of people and high demand of products. Pricey matcha, but very fitting for Melrose and at least the upcharges are worth it! There's so many boosts that you can add and it doesn't change the taste of the matcha. The matcha itself was very smooth and I'd totally treat myself to it again. The interior has a decent amount of seating and natural sunlight. The double pumpkin latte (coffee -- they can make it matcha or hojicha) was the best pumpkin flavored late I can recall having. Buttery, foamy and just on point for sweetness. If I come back here, I'll just focus on beverages. We were there at 9ish on a friday and saw quite a few people work on their laptops as they sip the beverage of their choice. We had the plain croissant (honest mistake) and.. it tasted just like one from Costco.. for $5.. and I mean.. Costco can get you 7 for $7 if I am not mistaken. The croque monsier looks so much better in the picture than in reality and I wasn't a fan of the ham which tasted too sweet. But the side yellow sauce was tasy. I always drive past this cafe and had finally decided to give it a try since the bright storefront seemed so inviting. Inside there is plenty of seating for your workseshes. Now for the matcha itself, I wasnt wowed after paying $10 for my drink. The matcha was very light in flavor & got lost in all the milkiness of the drink. My friend and I were in the mood for some good matcha and I knew JUST the place. FLOWIN CAFE. PERIODT. This place is seriously one of the best matcha places I've ever been to. It's so smooth and I love all the extra "boosts" they provide. The Strawberry Vibes is so delicious. I love that they have flavored matchas. They taste so natural and not artificial. They also use ceremonial grade matchas and you can taste the difference and how smooth they are. I finally also tried their Melrose Matcha which is their Yuzu flavor with Glow Up and Vibe Up boosts. Sometimes I get really scared about Yuzu cause it could be too "sour," but no, this place gets it right. It was subtle, tasty, smooth, and sweet. My friend and I were very impressed! The boosts are such a nice touch too. Vibe up has l-theanine and 5-HTP which helps with relaxation and no crash. Glow Up is like the Hailey Bieber smoothie which Flowin also sells cans of their coffee at Erewhon! The owners are also so kind and friendly. I came in with my dog and they're so welcoming they even gave my little Mimi treats of her choice. I love the vibe of this place and I'm lowkey glad it's not super packed all the time but I'm also surprised because this place is: WAY BETTER THAN COMMUNITY GOODS. Five stars just for how sweet the owners were. Seems to be a great place to work, lots of space and outlets. The banana matcha was good, but I wish they had soy milk! Something about the oat milk didn't go well with the flavor profile of the drink and honestly hurt my stomach a little bit (this is probably just a me issue, lol!). ICED MATCHA LATTE 7/10: The matcha is pretty standard, it has a relatively smooth finish and isn't too "earthy" tasting in case you are not the biggest fan of that. I got light vanilla and I think that it was sweetened perfectly. Just not my favorite matcha I have tried (preference). WHIPPED CREAM/STRAW CROISSANT 6.5/10: The croissant was decent and the highlight of it was that you could clearly tell that they make the whipped cream in house (delicious btw). Omg!!! I'm so blown away by this new coffee shop!! The ambience is very eye pleasing, relaxing and gives the vibes you need at a coffee shop, with plenty of seats and outlets. I ordered the Sea Salt Caramel Iced Latte with oat milk and added the Phoenix effects adaptogen shot. It's labeled for "cortisol reset, relaxation, and nerve support" -- and I actually felt noticeably more relaxed during lunch a little later. This cafe is definitely on the pricier side, but it's so lovely. The customer service is awesome; the cashier realized it was my first time there and did not hesitate to give me recommendations. Very open space cute cafe. Love the concept. When I arrived there was only 1 guest I waited at the counter for about 6 min before the staff came out the back. No welcome just how can I help you. Ask the cashier some questions the other co worker over talked her and answered them for her. Coffee is basic I ordered the hazelnut latte didn't taste like hazelnut just like a latte no flavor at all. Warm not hot at all got cold very fast. I came to do some work as they have outlets and a nice open work space. But the amount of DOGS in this cafe was overwhelming for someone who's allergic. I'm ok with dogs in an outside space but indoor and on the seats and counter space is too much.They have a outside patio that they should gear guest with animals too as I'm sure health department code for pets is a No inside a restaurant. I had two guest sit next to me I mentioned to both the 1 st lady was so kind to move but the Second Lady was rude so I moved outside. This is fully the cafes fault but allowing so many animals inside when you have an outside space was frustrating.
