When i found this service, I honestly called praying that is was the right decision and it surely was. My worker Rea did everything she could to help me out. While my space isn't that big, her organization skills made my place twice its normal size when not in a state of khaos. I believe in honest reviews because I rely heavily on them. That being said, the first cleaners sent to my home were awful - unprofessional and refusing to clean basic items (i.e. dusting pictures) when there wasn't much to be done in my home to begin with. I held off writing a review because the company immediately made arrangements for a recleaning and apologized profusely. Rea came for the recleaning and was absolutely amazing. Although she was friendly and personable, she never got too comfortable and remained extremely professional. The first time I used the service it was for a 2 hour window for a refrigerator cleaning. The maid arrived early and was fantastic with the job she did. So now that I'm working at night I dont have major time nor energy to thoroughly clean my apartment. So what the heck, Let's try Sterling again. I opted for the deep cleaning package, the contact person said that there was no time restrictions with this package. The two ladies that came weren't as good as the last lady. Let's just say who vacuums without moving thing out the way. The kitchen was ok. But they dont actually mop they use a swiffer. There were streaks left on all the glass tables and mirrors. The baseboards were barely done. I ended up doing my own window sills while they were here. But the annoying part of the whole thing is that when I mentioned to them what I needed done the more vocal woman said to me that she was told that they were only suppose to be there for 3 hours that's what she was told, I had to show her my email receipts and correspondence with Sterling, and ask them to stay longer and do atleast the parts that I desperately needed cleaned. No organization or polishing was done barely any dusting. For the most part Asha and Sherita did a bit under ok. Nothing spectacular. Or really to be honest nothing at all. Here I am, confirmed - twice, 5 days before my wedding... looking for a cleaning service because sterling maids just cancelled. Apparently I live outside of their vicinity of cleaning. Would have been nice to know that when I booked in December or when they called to confirm in both MARCH and this morning. Instead I got a lousy email that said "cancelled" no explanation as to why. I called and was given the bogus excuse. So why did you accept my reservation? Why over a holiday weekend am I scrambling to find another cleaning service?! Thanks for not serving me-- and hanging up on my over the phone when I got upset because this is not what a bride or groom is looking to add to the list of things shortly before their wedding. Further your representative on the phone yelled at us that there is nothing she can do- couldn't point us in the right direction of a company that does service our area and telling us there was no one else we can talk to. This is actually my follow-up to last month's review when I let it be known how pleased I was with this company. In that review I spoke highly of my first experience with the company and the girl that was sent to my home. I also wrote that a smart company like Sterling Maids "probably has a full compliment of exemplary staff". Well, I was right. I've booked this company a few more times now and staff members Laketha and Varsha have both come to my house, each just as kind, talented and eager to do their best as the other. All but one of my bookings have been for help with packing to move. The girls are all energetic and more than willing to take direction. The one cleaning date was with Varsha. Varsha is an incredibly sweet person who is incredibly detailed in her work. It was easy to see where she cleaned because every crevice of that area was sparkling clean, though it did take longer than expected. The reason for this review was just to let people know that that Sterling Maids is consistent, consistent in providing quality service with a quality staff. I always cleaned my house and never needed anyone to clean it for me, but after having a baby I needed help. I researched several companies and this company had the best reviews. I purchased a deep clean and I was really excited. First, the advertisement states that they bring they own supplies. (Which they did but they never went into they bag to use anything). I'm not mad at that because least I knew what was being used. Second, I was expecting a deep cleanse but all I got was a wipe down on everything. After they left I actually cleaned the whole house myself. It's not like my house was filthy but I expected the bathroom to be clean. I still had soap scum on the top of the shower which looked like they never even wiped. The nursery was fine no complaints they dusted and that's all that needed to be done. Master bedroom mirrors was cleaned with something that destroyed my mirrors. It couldn't be fix and I had to trash them after. Wooden floors was not mopped but swifter with wooden floor cleaner solution that left the floors very sticky. The stove still had the oil splatter from the night before and everything else was wiped and dusted not a deep clean at all. I can't complain about the workers they was nice and friendly and very respectful. However the work was not good. read more

I used this service three times, and it got progressively worse. The first time, the two ladies did an excellent job. Perhaps this is because I paid extra for a deep cleaning this first time. The second time, although I was supposed to have had (and I paid for) two cleaners, only one arrived, very late. She said that her partner did not come to pick her up. Sterling still charged me for two cleaners, and I (foolishly) did not press the matter. The third time, even though I requested that the ladies who cleaned house the first time be sent, Sterling sent a different pair. These women did an adequate if uninspired job of cleaning, but after they left, I discovered that my toilet was stopped. My landlord had to snake it vigorously, and he fished out a piece of a broken toilet brush that these imbeciles had flushed down the toilet! He also had to flush the pipes for the entire house to get the remaining broken toilet brush piece out of the system. My landlord spoke to Sterling about the matter. They took his telephone number and promised follow-up, which never happened. I am sure that some excellent cleaners work for Sterling. As near as I can tell, however, Sterling is just a coordinator for a bunch of independent contractors with widely varying abilities and levels of intelligence. Sterling itself appears to take no responsibility for what "its" cleaners do. I suspect that all similar services in the NYC area operate in this way. It seems to me far better just to get the name of a person from somewhere else, say, a supermarket bulletin board. The gambling factor is no greater, and you will at least not pay exorbitant extra amounts to a worthless middle man such as Sterling. And as for Sterling itself, engage them at your own risk. The quality of cleaner you will receive is a complete craps shoot. read more

Used them for move-in/out thorough cleaning twice. Price was reasonable. The first time, I had Laketha. I went out during the session and that one time, she only cleaned very superficially and ended in 1.5 hours while I paid $170 for 3 hours of thorough cleaning. I came to a new apartment that looked only slightly less dusty than before. Stains remained and I was left scrubbing at bome the next week. Second time (move-out cleaning, 3 hrs for $170) with Sterling Maids was ok when I was present to monitor but still not phenomenal. I eventually found another company for 1/3 the price, double the results in 3 full hours of service. For the other company, monthly cleaning $50 is for 3 hours. Despite me being away, my new maid still does a professional job, getting all the stubborn stain cleaned, and I come back 3hrs later to a sparkling clean home. Don't think i will return to Sterling Maids soon, but they did their job reasonably and prompty. read more

I want to preface this with the fact that the services rendered are actually five stars! Unfortunately the booking was for 4pm and the individuals didn't get to my home until 5pm. That being said, the results were spectacular. I previously used handy.com and had less than average quality work and no apology. Sterling Maids has excellent customer service and a great team of representatives to make my apartment look like new! I scheduled Sterling Maids NYC for a DEEP CLEANING PACKAGE . They advised i would need to have 2 people for 6-7 hours for my 2 bedroom home which is small. Lets just say this company is a scam. The other reviewers must be friends and family of the owner. They ladies came to my home and started in the kitchen where they spent serveral hours. I am not sure what they did as i was not home my husband was working from home so he was in and out..they did NOT clean my walls ,fan,cabinets,laudry room was never touched windows ciles were never cleaned... my bathroom looked a mess the glass was dirty still after they wiped it with a dirth cloth. This company says the provide the cleaning supplies.. what cleaning supplies the did not even have a real mop. They were using my cloth from by my sink trough out my house . After i got home i called Falisha several times because her ladies said they were leaving time was up ,meanwhile they did not even touch the basement area. Keep in mind i scheduled A DEEP CLEANING SERVICE for my entire home and when i did we discussed in detail of wjat servises would be provided. FALISHA never answered any of my calls or text messgaes but when one of the girls called her she answered and told me i had to pay $50 more for them to clean the basemment after we had agreed the price that waa quoted including every part of my home. I contacted FALISHA several times asking her to provide a second cleaning due to the fact what i paid for was never provided. Up until today I have not heard from her. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO. I don't know how this company gets 5 star reviews...I wanted just the kitchen done...granted the kitchen was old and neglected, but the outside of the cabinets looked smeared and when I went over it, more dirt came off...ceiling fan was not cleaned, and had to remind person to clean baseboards..they vaccumed the kitchen floor...I swept it afterwards and picked up more dirt....the inside of the cabinets were cleaned.... thought the walls would be wiped down...not happy and will not be using them again..... read more
