I was looking for a good cleaning service around Queens that would be able to do a better job than my husband or I. I found Sterling Maids on Yelp & after more research, I decided to go with them. Their website is quick & efficient. I made an appointment for a few days later, but found it strange when I didn't get a confirmation email. I called later that night & spoke to a very kind lady. She apologized & said that the appointment didn't go through because that time was already booked. We chose a different time the day before & then I got the confirmation email. She called back a few mins later apologizing again but she had booked a cleaner too close together in time so we chose the day after in the morning. No problem. Our cleaner, Patricia, arrived 10 mins early & asked what room I wanted her to start in. She told me what she would be doing & went right to work. We stepped out while she cleaned to give her space & came back an hour later. She had only gotten the fridge and part of the kitchen finished, which was fine because it was obvious she was diligent & took her time. We went into whatever room she wasn't working on at the time & she finished about an hour later. Patricia asked me to look around to see if everything was okay. The entire apartment smells fresh, clean & is dust free! She cleaned every corner, underneath furniture, window sills, shower, you name it. She was kind & extremely helpful. I will definitely request her for the next time! With basic clean & fridge clean, it took about 2 hours for our 1 bedroom apartment. We're so happy with the outcome! read more

They sent a young lady by the name Rea last Thursday and I couldn't have been happier with the service. She was courteous, worked diligently and effortlessly. Sterling Maids did an amazing job for me today! Our new apartment was so covered in cat hair I had to have it cleaned before we renovated! It was impossible to breathe in there and I'm not even allergic. I emailed them at 11:30pm. By 9:30am I had an estimate. Their price came in well under anybody else I contacted and they were nicer too! They managed to set up a next day appointment for me and were so understanding when I ran late. These two lovely ladies then attacked every nook and cranny, getting rid of the all the hair and even the stale cat smell. The fridge is spotless, the bathroom we're not renovating sparkles, and even the a/c filters are clean! Can't wait to get them back in mid renovation to make sure the cat hair is really gone and then again once all is said and done for post construction deep clean. After having had no luck with some cleaning companies...either cost to much or didnt show up on time..I tried Sterling Maids after reading the good reviews. The reviews are accurate. I had a team of 3 clean my home in Brooklyn and they did an outstanding job. They were on time and thorough. They also brought their own suuplies and vacuum as well. The cleaners always arrive on time and spend around 3 hrs in my house. They do a great job cleaning--including wiping baseboards, emptying the trash, and scrubbing the stovetop. Some days I ask them to do a bit more, like vacuum the couches, and they are always happy to oblige. The team we get is pretty consistent, which is always nice, and I feel comfortable going to work and leaving them to finish cleaning the house. They're also very understanding about my two little dogs sometimes going nuts when they ring the doorbell. read more

I will never use this cleaning service again. I was so disgusted and stressed out with who they sent to clean my house. I had to provide my own paper towels, cleaners and vacuum because the cleaning ladies came with close to no cleaning material. They were using murphy oil for my furniture and floors and I had to stop them. Please make sure you ask who is coming to clean your house if you use this service and ask if they have enough material. I paid at the end for the cleaning even though i used all my products to let them clean as they didn't have anything. The company advertises on there page free samples when I booked and when the ladies came they said they didn't have anything like that. I am very disappointed in this cleaning service. I did a move in and move out clean in Queens. The move out clean was good - when they finally arrived. Scheduled for 12:00 and got a call they were going to be late like 20 min before - then another call that they were going to be late again. Turns out they were in manhattan and coming to my house by train and bus - very poor scheduling. Luckily I had still left the mops and brooms because they didn't have any though I specified to bring cleaning supplies. The clean was good when they finally arrived but wasted 2 hrs which defeats the point of paying so much money. I had a different team for the move in clean - that was unequivocally the worst clean I had ever had. This team was early, which was a problem because my contractor was finishing up. I specified to bring a vacuum, but they brought an underpowered portable one. They were taking a long time, and I had to run out and left someone there to give them the check but didn't get to do a final walk through. When I came back, what a mess. There was still grit and dust on top of the shower head and window sill in the bathroom from the painting (not major reno) and nails on the floor in the bathroom and office. There is cat hair enough to make a whole cat and cat food from the previous tenant under the fridge and on the side of the fridge. Closets were painted and sanded and the floors were a gritty mess. The top of the kitchen cabinets were not dusted. I was going away on a business trip and couldn't have gotten a re-clean within the 5 day window so this w as basically a waste of money. I could have cleaned the old place myself during the 2 hours I was waiting and had to clean the new place myself even though I paid someone else to do it. Merry maids is a little pricier but worth every penny - not coming back to this company read more

I was in a bind when another cleaning company cancelled on me last week at the last minute, and it was a relief when I was able to schedule an appointment with Sterling Maids. Iesha was very helpful on the phone in setting up my appointment, and I was reassured to get several email confirmations in advance and to be able to make adjustments if needed on their website. It was important to me to have someone who could bring all necessary supplies, and Sterling Maids was able to offer this. Asha came this morning and did a great job, arriving a little early and finishing even sooner than I had expected. It might have been a little more expensive than some other options (though they have pointed out to me that they do have different pricing options and in the future I may use their hourly rate rather than their standard one-bedroom apartment rate, as I now know the hourly rate would probably work out better for me), but the service met my needs and I would definiitely use Sterling Maids again. read more

I am updating my review, because the owner contacted me the next day, apologized for the issues and sent out another team promptly to deal with the neglected areas. The new team (Onica and Vanity) were friendly and did an AMAZING job with the requested areas. The porch was vacuumed, swept and mopped. I've never seen it so clean. The very old bathroom sink looked like they had just replaced it with a new sink. And the downstairs showers, with many years worth of mildew and mold were shining white once they were done with them! Exceeded my expectations in each area; I only wish they had been my team the first time around. So, in short, while the first crew did not meet my expectations, I would recommend this service, since the owner is dedicated to making everything right in case there are problems, which is a big deal. If I call them again i will definitely ask for Onica and Vanity! MY PREVIOUS REVIEW: Not a great experience. It started out well, Kassia and Vasha (sp?) showed up promptly. I had emailed the company and explained what needed to be cleaned. They said that an hourly rate of $50 for 2 people was recommended, and they would put me down for 3 hours. When they arrived, I went through everything. Within two hours they had finished in every room in the main areas of the house and said that they could work on the basement. Most of the house looked nice. I showed them the small mostly finished basement, including two showers (which had been mentioned in the original email). They said that usually they don't do basements but they would make an exception. This seemed strange, especially since I had mentioned it in my original email and it was an hourly rate, but I said fine. When I asked if they would clean the showers, they looked at me like I was a little insane, and when I asked to have the small amount of gunk cleaned off the tile wall in one shower she insisted on cleaning off two spots while I was standing there and then asked curtly if I was satisfied. She didn't touch the other shower. She was not very happy about cleaning the porch, even though I mentioned it in the original email, and I had to ask her to sweep after vacuuming because the floor still wasn't remotely clean. She kept on saying that porches aren't included. If that was the case it should have been mentioned when I originally messaged the company and specifically mentioned the porch. They did ask me if I was satisfied, and I said yes, mainly because I didn't want to keep pushing on the basement showers and porch. After they left, I went into the downstairs bathroom and the inside of the toilet had obviously not been touched and the sink had some gunk on it so it had definitely not been cleaned. I called the company immediately to complain about two things that not done that were very basic. I got a message machine, even though it was clearly within their business hours. I also messaged them asking them to fix the situation. No response on either front. The whole visit was only two hours 15 minutes after I had initially signed up for 3 hours, so it's not like I was asking them to stretch their schedule. I definitely would not call them again, I really don't appreciate having to mention every spot of dirt or argue about cleaning areas that were already discussed with the company. read more

If I could leave "zero" stars I would. My review is not on the actual cleaners, they are decent, but rather the incompetent office staff. There is no credibility and no accountability. I have used them 10 times and out of the 10 times they were over 30 minutes late 7 times. One time the cleaner showed up an hour and forty minutes after the scheduled appointment. I receive confirmation emails with the date and time of my appointment yet I find myself waiting over and hour for a not so great cleaning. then I call and they tell me they had it in the book for 1 PM, not 12 PM or they tell me, I don't know what happened. If it was just one time it would be different but the office staff has proven to be incompetent as this is ALL THE TIME!!! Save yourself the time and aggravation and find a reputable cleaning service who is accountable and competent. read more
