Came here because my brother in law was craving a steak dinner. He was buying and I didn't want to stick him with a big tab. We love Cedars, but it is a bit much when a 24 year old kid looking for a job is treating. So...Sterlings. Great service and a nice atmosphere. I had the filet which was a little small but prepared very nicely and was an excellent value. My brother in law had the New York. It was not a nice thick steak by any means, and he had to have dessert so he could get full. All in all I think I like this place much better for breakfast, and the Tri Cities could use an honest to goodness steakhouse that you don't have to take out a loan to dine at. After a special annual event held on a recent evening many ones in my congregation were willing participants to getting a group together somewhere for a late dinner or dessert. My husband and myself thought about Sterlings. I called Sterlings around 8:20 pm and spoke to a gentleman whom I believe to be the manger. He explained the restaurant normally closes at 9:00. I told him I had a group of about 15 looking for a place to meet and perhaps we should go elsewhere that stays open longer. He encouraged us to not discontinue Sterlings as an option that they will "take care of all of us." Well it ended up about 23 of us arrived! They did just as promised and took care of us! I've eaten at the Sterling's in Richland and was always satisfied. I thought eating at the Kennewick restaurant would be a similar experience. I ordered the steak special with the salad bar. The steak wasn't cooked correctly, mashed potatoes were gross (as if they had been left out for hours), and the manager was a complete jerk. When we complained, they offered to take $0.30 off of our bill. Wow, how generous. I will never eat at that location again. The funny thing was, that when I complained, the manager proceeded to give me a lesson in food costs. He needs a lesson in customer service. read more

Great service but I will never understand this place's popularity. The setting is comfy too. But the food is overpriced and below average.

We went to Sterling's in Kennewick on Monday evening. We only go there for the Filet Mignon, my favorite. I ordered it Medium/Well, no pink, and when I got it, it was under cooked and red. I asked the waitress to recook it to medium/well not medium/rare. She returned with a rib steak that was like 1/2 inch thick. She was worried that I was hungry and might want that steak. I said that we had come for filet mignon and that's what I wanted. Meanwhile my husband, offered me his which was slightly better and I declined. Finally I get my filet only to cut it open and find red again. At this point I had just about had it. I ate a couple of pieces that were not pink and brought the rest home to my dog. Complaint was made to the manager and she said sorry but there was nothing she could do about it. I did learn the cook's name and if I feel like taking a chance and returning, I will call ahead to make sure he is not there. That's the cook. We were there for 2 hours waiting for the a well cooked filet. So disappointed. Al was off so I couldn't complain to him. We are long time customers of this restaurant and now I don't know if and when we will ever return. I am not from San Francisco, we live here in Kennewick. read more

Our server was very friendly & refilled my water right on time. The blue cheese dressing was very good as was the stuffed baked potato. Our only negative was that the fish was over cooked. Just needs to be cooked on higher heat. read more

Easily one of my favorite Tri-cities restaurants for the tasty food, price affordability, comfy seating, great service, seasonal and fine art decor, lighting, freshness, menu variety, and fantastic management. Our family has spent several hundred dollars here over the past couple years. I especially enjoy the tuna pasta at the salad bar, tomato bisque, various alfredo pastas, and the seasonings at tableside. Whether morning, noon, or night, we always are satisfied with our experience. Never had a bad experience, not once. We have had many servers and all of them were kind, professional, and attentive to refilling drinks and checking on us. The managers have pride in the establishment. They decorate around Christmas time, and there are gorgeous framed oil paintings on the wall to admire. My only criticism is that there are some food inconsistencies among the three locations. The location at George Washington Way has not offered tuna pasta at salad bar in the times I was there, and their alfredo pasta is more oily at GW way than the wonderful pasta offered at Clearwater Ave. and Queensgate locations. The Clearwater Ave. location is my favorite for service. The GW Way location is my favorite for views of the river. The Queensgate location is my favorite for quiet ambience. read more

On Sunday April 21, I met 5 friends at Sterlings for breakfast. I love Sterlings, it is one of my favorite places to meet freinds and eat. On this particular morning, I ordered ice tea like I always do. It was awful. I kept adding water to it to try to dilute the flavor. My friend also ordered an ice tea and agreed it was awful. Everyone at the table sampled the tea and said it was awful so we told the waitress. She grabbed our bill and stomped off in a huff. When she brought the bill back, she was very snarky and said that she can gurantee the ice tea was fresh (it tasted old and metallicy) and her customers have raved all morning long how great it was. When my friend went to pay her bill, she told the manager about the waitress and he stared arquing with my friend how they have excellent tea and no one ever complains. So instead of saying "I am so sorry you do not like it". both arqued with us. Needless to say we will take our business elsewhere. Not only did they lose business from us 6, they lost our families and all the people we are telling about our expericence are saying they will never go to this Sterlings. Kudos Sterlings for driving away your regulars because you couldn't say 9 simple little words. read more

i have been an employee for sterling's for a few years. i have to tell you, being in the restaurant business for over 15 years... i have never worked for such a wonderful family before. jim and laura sterling are the most amazing people i have ever met in my entire life. they take this business to heart. preparing amazing food...making sure all staff is knowledgable and incredibly pleasant... giving wonderful customer service and phenomenal food is hard to find in privately owned restaurants...but sterling's has it all...and way more. being an employee and customer fore over 20 years... take it from me.. you will only leave sterling's with an amazing experiece all around! come check us out if you've never been! you will be incredibly pleased! my promise! read more

We have enjoyed the Richland Sterlings for many years. I can't say the same for the Kennewick Clearwater location. We went there when it first opened and it was packed and extremely noisy. This evening we decided to try it again since we live closer to it than the George Washington Way location. What a mistake! Our waitress (young redhead) was preoccupied with talking with a guy that I assume was her boyfriend. After bringing our steaks she did a quick walk-by and asked "How does everything taste?" Before I could answer she said "Good?" as she was walking away. The truth was, three-quarters of my steak was cooked medium well with a center portion that was medium rare. I ordered it rare. My husband order his steak medium rare and it was medium. Part way through our meal we realized we were never brought our dinner rolls that the menu said were included. As we were finishing eating she came by and asked about boxes. I said I didn't need one, my husband asked for one. She never returned. We could see her talking with the afore-mentioned boyfriend. Finally my husband went to the cashier to ask for a box. The manager was standing nearby but never did anything about her spending her time talking rather than waiting on customers. We then waited considerable more time but never received our check. The waitress was back talking to the boyfriend. We went to the register and the young man there had to go get the check. Never during the meal were we offered refills on our water even though one was empty and the other almost empty. My ice tea was empty also but the waitress never asked if I wanted a refill. She didn't ask about dessert either. Needless to say, I did not leave a tip and we do not plan on returning. The whole experience was bad. read more
