*updating my review because of the very thoughtful and helpful response! I really appreciate the explanation and the price makes sense now. We should have asked more questions at the time of the quote. Glad to hear there are cheaper options to fix the issue now. I may have just had a one-off experience because everyone seems to love them, or maybe the tech we got wasn't honest, but I called them since our washer was struggling during the spin cycle. They quoted us over $400 to fix this and said it was because it's a complicated and expensive part to replace. Luckily, we ended up doing some research and the part was $30 at Lowe's and it took maybe 20 minutes to replace ourselves. We had to pay the diagnostic fee which was over $100 even though we already knew what was wrong with it. The whole experience felt dishonest. Even if they used authentic parts I can't see that they would be that much more expensive and the labor was definitely not complicated. Next time we're going to research the fix before calling anyone. Sucks that good appliance repair companies are so hard to find. read more

We had a Honest service tech that came out and was able to resolve and explain our issue. Walked me through the codes from diagnostic mode and test type. Professionalism. Diagnostic fee is about on part for what you would pay for others. In our case the finding was the drain line for the washer needed either snaking, or in my case, just a little green gobblin down the hatch and flush with hot water. Their office hours and pricing are what I call classic ran which in the consumer case is a good thing. It signals that they don't do the over worked beat down for field techs making it more likely that you will have done right the first time. read more

Referred to Steve Slaton by a friend who's used the company for many years. We have a 10 year old Whirlpool side by side with an ice maker issue from months ago and a new unrelated issue with the water dispenser which actually prompted our need for service. We were preparing ourselves for a big service bill or even having to consider buying a new unit. Surprised to learn they offered a technician on July 4 even though our service need was definitely not an emergency, and there was no extra charge. Troubleshooting to identify a problem and come up with a solution is challenging at best, and we had 2 unrelated problems. James was our expert technician and he did a fantastic job identifying the issues and coming up with reasonable solutions. Dealing with an ice maker usually takes a follow-up visit just because it takes a while to go through multiple cycles to confirm it's working properly. He came back at no extra charge to ensure he was on the right track to solve the problem. He didn't have to order a part for the ice maker, but the water dispenser was another story. He ordered a part and clearly stated the cost and the labor to install it - all very reasonable and the cost of the initial service call was applied to the total invoice. There was no attempt to up-sell something we didn't need. BONUS: I'm the kind of guy who likes to look over shoulders to see how things work and he embraced my questions and provided easy to understand answers that will help me troubleshoot for myself in the future. Steve Slaton's team offers old fashioned, dependable service and very fair charges. We feel very fortunate to have had James assigned to our service call, but I feel confident any technician the company sends out will be well-qualified and very professional. Trying to get dishwasher parts during covid-19 is difficult. Supplies are short and shipping takes time. Although we were out for almost 3 weeks total, we were informed about status and had quality parts installed, pump and circuit board. Steve came out to help and do the installation. We called a second time a year or so later. Our fridge was beginning to warm up. The tech was scheduled for the next day and arrived 15 minutes early, which I liked because I didn't have to wait all morning. After checking the fridge for a bit, I was told that the fix was to unplug the fridge for a couple of days and most cases resolve themselves after that. I was only charged for the basic service fee. Just as the tech said, the fridge worked fine in a couple of days. Very happy with this company. read more

I've used this company several times to fix my fridge and now oven. They are very fair and honest. They just finished fixing my parents oven. They had to made 2 trips to the house. 1st trip was to diagnose the problem. The oven gave several codes that were possible issues. They told us the worst case scenario price if both parts needed to be replaced. They did not ask for any money after they left to order parts. It took a couple days to get the easier part. They suggested to try replacing this part first before incurring additional costs and having to wait longer for the more difficult part to get. 2nd visit a few days later after part came home. Technician removed oven, put in new part and it worked!!! The final cost was less than half what they quoted. We are super appreciative for them to give us worst case scenario and be honest enough to not charge us anywhere near what it could have cost. A new oven of the same quality would have cost $3,500 for a new one. Thank you for being honest and trust worthy. You will always be my first call when my appliances need work!!! read more

We have an old Electrolux Gas Range that after many years of use the oven started giving out. Sometimes it would heat other times it would not. I knew who to call from talking with friends at work. I left a message after hours thinking I would hear back the next morning. Well I got a text back about 10 minutes later letting me know they could handle the issue and they would call me when they open next morning. I spoke to Taylor who was friendly and helpful and by 10A they had David at my place. He was fantastic and let me know what was going on. He fixed the problem in about 20 minutes. It was a bad igniter. Fantastic work and great overall customer service at a nice price. No need to buy a new range at all. No one could ask for anything better. When I needed a washing machine repair, I researched on Yelp as usual. Steve Slayton Appliance Repair ranked at the top of the list with five stars. Few businesses have that reputation, so I called them. Joshua appeared on schedule and diagnosed the most obvious and likely cause, gave me a quote and ordered some parts. Upon his return a few days later with the parts, Joshua said they had done further research in the meantime which revealed a possible alternative cause of the problem that didn't involve parts. He made the necessary repairs under the washer and ran a test load. Problem solved. The final invoice was half of the original quote, for labor only; they didn't sell me unnecessary parts.
