I hadn't seen a dermatologist since 2007 due to being unemployed. I got a job last year and went to a full scan due to the fact that I am pigmently challenged. I've had two suspicious moles removed by my former dermatologist in CA so I pointed those out and told Dr. R my history. As with other patients, I felt that the Dr. didn't have much time to spend on me. I felt that, though the clinic was pleasant, it was geared toward more expensive cosmetic procedures and not preventive maintenance. My impression was that preventive medicine was not where this clinic/spa made it's money. When I had asked about what I can do about the sun damage on my face, I was referred to one of the clerks at the front where they sold me a $120 bottle of junk. I don't normally buy into serums and stuff like that but I thought this might work because of where I got it. Overall, I was really disappointed. When I asked my regular ARC doctor about some skin things that came up since my visit to Dr. R, she suggested I go back. I told her what had happened and said I'd rather find someone else. Dr. R was professional but I left feeling that I was second class, not there for more costly treatments. Intended or not, that's how I felt. I put two stars because he did suggest a good product for my very very dry skin. The product is cheaper at Walmart by a few bucks. I have been a patient of Dr. Rasmussen for 5 yrs and every time I went in was because of a wart I had on my hand. The Dr. at some apts did one of these procedures or all : burned them , froze them and/or cut them . Finally we eventually did injections of Candida. I never successfully got rid of my wart, it would always comeback. So needless to say I am seeking a new dermotologist because I am tired of dealing with my wart. The staff and the Dr. are very sweet but I want results and I feel I'm not getting that. read more

All I can say is BEWARE! I will spare you the pic of my butchered scalp after having a basal cell carcinoma removed. The procedure wasn't fully explained and at one point I asked if I was on fire since I could smell my hair burning. My friend took pics, but there was still blood in my hair, nice work. It was discovered later my scalp was pulled so tightly when closing the incision that the skin on either side of the incision literally broke down and ulcerated. Ten days later his assistant took the stitches out, the doctor breezed in for a quick glance and said everything was ok. She commented that my scalp didn't like those sutures very much. I asked if I needed to keep applying Vaseline to the area and was told no. I went back for a follow up after stitches were removed because the wound was seeping and had scabbed over. The doctor drew me some illustrations on some paper in an attempt to show me what was going on. Upon examining my wound he started to pick at my scalp saying he was just removing some dead skin. Then with no warning or explanation he ripped the entire scab off. I couldn't see if he was even wearing gloves. It was excruciatingly painful! Afterwards his assistant, who was very nice, deadened the area and supposedly cleaned it. I was sent home with a paper lunch sack, unwrapped gauze pads, yet another tube of Vaseline, and some unwrapped gloves. I was told my hair will grow back and he offered to fix a supposedly small scar for me for free. I should have walked away from the beginning when after a 30 second exam he diagnosed the place on my scalp before taking a biopsy. Quote "I'm always right." We'll see, Dr. You will never touch me again. Please don't bother responding with your patronizing apology. I just hope no one else is disfigured and traumatized. I met Dr. Rasmussen Nov 2016 for a checkup for skin cancer and also concerns regarding facial redness and irritation. He spent 7 minutes in the room, prescribed medication for my face and told me not to worry about the mole on my arm. Fast forward to March 2017 - I left three messages (3 days in a row) on the nurse/dr voicemail about an allergic reaction while traveling and have yet to receive a return call from anyone in the office. Disappointing experience overall for the "best" dermatology office in Austin. read more

I too have a difficult time posting this review. I have never written a review before. My husband says that I am too much of a doormat; I often let things slide and it takes a lot to make me upset. It's been nearly a year since I visited Dr. Rasmussen for my first (and last) visit. I went there because they are affiliated with Austin Regional Clinic and I've always had great experiences with ARC. However, not this time.The experience still irks me after all this time. I visited Dr. Rasmussen because I was having terrible acne flare-ups that was leaving my face scarred and marked. I had not had acne issues since the age of 14. The staff was friendly and the wait was not too long and based on that, I would have given this review at least 3 stars. But what followed shocked me and left me feeling insignificant and unattractive. Dr. Rasmussen walked in, proceeded to move my stuff from the chair usually meant for someone with the patient (ignoring the doctor's stool), sat down, and leaned back while crossing his legs. At first, I thought maybe he was gonna talk with me and answer my questions from that seat and then actually approach me to examine my face which would have been fine but he did the entire consultation like that. He never came closer than 3 feet to actually examine me. 2 seconds after sitting down, without so much as a cursory look over my face, he began telling me what medicines he was going to prescribe me. No questions about the length of time I had had this acne or anything like that. Then he said, "I notice you have some stuff on your chest." At the top of where my cleavage was....this made me feel terribly self-conscious. Then, less than 2 minutes after he walked in, he left the room. I had been talked at, not with. I felt so unimportant. On top of that, I also felt like they were trying to sell me on a bunch of products and services. I ended up paying $400 on medications and washes. I might have spent a lot more there if I hadn't called and canceled my chemical peel appointment. Had I had a good experience there, I would have been willing to book many of their services but I was just so turned off. I'll be having my peels done elsewhere. I just can't give eOs the benefit of the doubt. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Rasmussen. He was very compassionate and extremely personable. He took the time to alleviate my fears and listened to me. He also returned my calls very promptly and made time for me when I was worried about something and did not want to wait to get in. I really, really appreciated that. If you have been to see other Dermatologists for fillers/botox before, I would urge you to try Dr. Rasmussen at eOs in Austin. His technique as well as results are superior to the other Derm that I saw previously. He is meticulous and you can tell he takes much pride in his work. His front office staff as well as medical assistants provide outstanding customer service and make you feel welcome and relaxed. The service was excellent, no wait time, and Dr. Steve was quick without making me feel hurried. eOs is a lovely, clean, serene environment! read more

This review is for Dr Rasmussen, not for the treatments at the med spa. I went in for a Foto facial, to have some broken cappilliarys lasered on my face. My complimentary consultation consisted of me going in a room with a nurse. When the Dr. came in he made some jokes, and stood just by the door. That was as close as he got to looking at my face. I felt a bit uncomfortable, but I was very intent on getting the treatment. The first consultation was about 3 to 5 minutes, a little fast, but what do I know. The treatment was him coming in to the treatment room fast. Asking if I was ready, and getting started. He had to make an adjustment with the laser intensity, but nothing was explained to me. He did ask if I was okay during the treatment. Than as soon as it was over, he was out of there. He may do a lot of these treatments, he may feel like there is not much to explain, but as a client, I want to know more about what is happening, and I want to know the person who is doing the procedure, is actually in tuned to my needs. For as much as this treatment costs, I would have liked better service. I will not go back to him again. read more

I had a facial today with Stacey, She did an amazing job, my skin looks great and feels great. Staff is super friendly. I was able to get an appointment a couple days prior, which is great.. Office is beautiful, very professional, clean.. Everything was great, can't wait to get my next facial and possibly laser hair removal.. I thank my lucky stars that I found Dr. Rasmussen! In May 2013 I received a chemical eye peel from a supposed very good plastic surgeon in town. He left my eyes red beyond belief, with massive peeling that never stopped, chemical dermatitis and severe scarring. A horrible sight to behold. I literally didn't go out of my house for months! As the months passed and my eyes weren't heeling I was sent to multiple doctors who didn't know what to do to help me.Then I was referred to Dr. Rasmussen. He told me that he would fix my eyes. It was very difficult to trust another doctor after all I had been through but there was something about his determination and kindness that helped me go forward. After multiple treatments with the V beam and steroid shots for the scarring I am ecstatic to write that my eyes look great. All along the way he was encouraging, knowledgeable , and confident with an amazing staff.At one point when I was so scared that my eyes would never really improve he called me and checked up on me three times. Who has ever heard of that in this day and age! Bottom line is Dr. Rasmussen has the experience, knowledge, and state of the art equipment to help you with whatever your needs might be. I have received both medical spa service and dermatology service from Dr. Rasmussen and have always been more than pleased. I have never felt rushed through my visit. I have always felt he listened and cared. I have fair skin and went to have my freckles and moles checked he put me at ease but made sure I heard how important it was for me to wear sunscreen every day. read more

I recently went in for my third visit with Dr. Rasmussen. I made a same day appointment for 4PM for a worrisome mole on my face that suddenly appeared and grew in a matter of a few weeks. I was very worried. On this visit my 4PM appointment found me speaking with the Dr. at 4:01. He cut the mole, explained he would send it our for a biopsy and would get back to me. I was in my car leaving by 4:11PM. Within two days I had a phone call from the Dr.'s assistant that I had nothing to worry about that the biopsy came back normal. Great customer service, knowledgable, firendly and professional. Highly recommended! read more

I researched a long time before I made a decision to see Dr. Rasmussen. The first appointment, he was really nice. The problems started happening with the follow up appointments. He seemed annoyed and was very rude when I went for my follow up appontments. I thought, "I paid a lot of money, and if I need a follow up appointment, I should have one, and not be treated bad because I needed to come back". I would NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Rasussen because of his nonprofessional matter. I am a paying customer and do not need to feel uncomfortable every time I go in. Very disappointed in this last visit. I have seen Dr Rasmussen several times for face fillers. I wanted to change up some of the injections sites but was only able to consult with what looked like to be a twelve year old medical assistant. When Dr Rasmussen arrived in the room, he gave me little time to discuss my goals, did not hold up a mirror to explain what he was doing and spent perhaps two minutes with me. One injection site, which cost me $100.00, simply does not look improved at all, and now when I drink, I dribble. What cost me $400 for two minutes of the doctor's time, has turned me sour on this once admired doctor. read more

Dr. Rassmusen was a great doctor. I have one little thing that I didn't like. I really didn't seem like he was interested in what I was looking for. I have acne that I have been wanting to get rid of for years, I don't feel good about myself and it's making life hard. He did give me retin-a and some oral pills. Before him I was already on that path and my acne didn't get any better. It just seems like this is the same path I took with the other derm doctor. read more

I realize that specialty medicine can become expensive and I have no problem paying a little extra, but I do expect service in return. Dr. Rasmussen spent a total of about two mins with me and was then gone. His assistants then proceeded to push VERY expensive product on me. It was only upon my prompting them a few times that they presented me with a slightly more affordable option. Healthcare should not be about pushing spa products, it should be about healing. I went to Dr. Rasmussen after two other derms - Westlake Derm and Evans Derm - had failed to cure my condition, a condition which had been going on for several months and grown from a quarter-sized patch to the size of a small watermelon. Dr. Rasmussen looked at things differently than the other two - choosing a strategy neither of the other two doctors put forth as an alternative. He told me he would cure it. And within a month or so, he did just that!! Beyond that, when I was running late to an appointment, he called me personally to inquire how things were going and hoping we could reschedule. Contrast that with Evans, who actually misdiagnosed my condition, put me on medication which made it significantly worse, never called to ask how the treatment was proceeding, or schedule a follow-up visit. In short, Dr. Rasmussen cured a condition that had two other doctors baffled. Kudos to him! My deepest thanks and highest recommendation. read more
