My mom has seen Dr. Snyder for the past two years. Dr. Snyder performed her cataract surgeries with no complications. All of her experiences with Dr. Snyder and his staff having been wonderful. Dr. Snyder takes the time to make sure my mom and I are completely informed of what his findings and our options. I don't wear glasses, so I'm not used to having my eye looked at, let alone poked at. Kinda FREAKS ME OUT! But when it became apparent I had some kind of "debris particle" stuck in my cornea and no amount of eyewash would rinse it out, Patient First referred me to Dr. Snyder. I was in a lot of pain at the time and Dr. Snyder was able to see me within a couple hours of calling for an appointment. He had to scrape my cornea to clear the debris. It wasn't scary at all because he was totally cool and told me exactly what I could expect. He was really great at taking the time to explain how it would feel and what I could do to get through it. More than the eye poking, I was afraid of the bill because my health insurance doesn't cover any out of pocket medical costs. Dr. Snyder went with me to make sure I paid a reduced rate when I checked out at the front desk. My bill was only $80. What a relief! He also told me he normally would have people come back in for a recheck, but to avoid cost, I only had to return if I was having a problem. I'm not gonna lie, the short recovery time was painful. But I was better after a day and my eyes are happy and healthy again. Dr. Snyder was great. I would definitely go to him again if I have any eye problems. read more

My husband had had two cataract operations recently by Dr Snyder with excellent results. Everyone from his office assistants to the operating room staff gave him the best of care. They all made sure that he understood everything about the procedures he was getting. They were very professional and caring and very efficient. After the first operation his vision was 20/20 in that eye, it had been 20/70. He waited for two months before he decided to have the cataract procedure done on the other eye. Within two weeks he had that procedure completed. Again, this operation was very successful. Dr. Snyder and his staff are very professional. His staff works like a "well oiled machine." My husband and I highly recommend Dr Snyder and his staff and would see him again for any eye issues that may occur. read more

Dr. Snyder was one of the worst opthamologists that I've ever been to. I told him that there.was a sore inside my eyelid and told him that the outer eyelid was discolored. Everything that I told him was quite obvious but after he looked at my eyelid he said nothing was wrong and jumped up and told me that if I needed him for anything else than I should call. No medications, no suggestions, nothing. Fat chance he'll get a second chance. I'm never going back to him nor will I go back to that facility. read more

We brought our 10 month old daughter here due to the fact we could not get an appointment elsewhere. I think I know why he has so much availability. No one wants to come here. I have had glasses since I was a kid and I've never seen an eye doctor's office so dirty, dingy, and just uncomfortable. Dr. Snyder rubbed me the wrong way from the start. He acts like a know it all and is very condescending about what he feels is right. He was also extremely inappropriate with my wife. He put his arm around her while examining my daughter and even rested his hand on her knee/ thigh while doing the same exam. It was disgusting. The children's toys in the lobby are gross and need to be thrown away. My daughter almost stuck her finger in an open socket that is directly behind the chair in the exam room. Located right above the back of the chair. I warned my wife from the beginning. The final straw was when we told the Dr we were going to get a second opinion. He told us it was a waist of time and money and that no one else is going to give us a different opinion than his. He then gave us a hard time about getting all the documentation. On one hand he told us it would take him seconds to print all of our paperwork but then in the next breathe said that he wouldn't and that we had to go to the online portal. The online portal is garbage. So now we have to drive all the way back up there to get our paperwork so we can go elsewhere. The dude's a creep. I'll never take my daughter back. read more

I should start this review by saying that I wouldn't trust my or my son's eyes to anyone else in this area. Dr. Snyder has always been thorough and attentive to our needs at every single appointment. He takes the time to answer questions and explains every detail. His bedside manner with my son is unbeatable but he is the only reason we still have our eyes checked there. I have worked in medical offices for 9 years and know that patient privacy is supposed to be protected. I didn't get that impression the last time we were there. I counted 4 record folders face up on a counter top and 3 in clear plastic bins on the wall that had patient details out in the open for everyone to see. As my son walked through the office to get a sticker I saw another patients record on the computer screen with a picture. I don't want to know why other people are coming to a doctors office but seeing all of these records in the office makes me wonder if our records are out in the open for others to see. I've been in the Great Bridge office and the Norfolk office. They are filthy and are falling apart. The assistant that examined my son last week was uppity, monotone and never made eye contact with either of us.She told me she'd handle the details of surgery if my son needs it so I hope he does not need it. I had to tell her that my son was on new medicine before she left the room because she didn't ask. The main nurse was so loud and obnoxious I thought we were on the set of Jersey Shore. Once Dr. Snyder came in the room that I felt like we were in a real doctors office. He cleaned the machines himself and gave me a kleenex to wipe someone elses make up off my sons forehead. I don't think he notices how bad his office looks, and I hope we are the only ones who had a bad day with his nurse because I don't think Dr. Snyder would let all of his patients feel so annoyed. We will still get our eyes checked by Dr Snyder because he really is a good doctor but I won't be upset if everything else in the office is clean and friendly when we go back. read more

I set an appointment for my 18 month old son over a month ago to have his eyes checked because we just discovered that a hereditary form of eye cancer may run in the family and we need to have him checked out as soon as possible. I was a little taken aback on my first call to set the appointment as they did not ask me any questions about my insurance, etc, they just took my son's name. A week before my appointment they called to confirm my appointment for a different date. Not only did they have the date wrong but they had my son's name wrong, they had down Anna, not even close to my sons name. I am willing to admit maybe the date mistake was my fault. They asked me what date I had down and they told me it was fine to come on that day and time. They then called me the next day when they had him originally scheduled and asked why we missed our appointment. I explained that I spoke with them the day before and they said I could come for the day I had down the next week. I again confirmed with them that that was okay and they said yes. After taking off work I got to Dr. Snyder's office today and was told they had him on the schedule for next month and that Dr Snyder wasn't even there today, despite being told twice the week before that it was okay to come in today. I am usually a very patient and understanding person, but this is the worst service experience I've ever had. Because of the scheduling issues and lack of confidence I now have with this practice, I will wait another month and take my son elsewhere. read more

This is THE place for eye care for my family, for all three generations. I go there when my chronic eye problems flare up out of control. Dr. Snyder is excellent with patients of all ages from babies to the elderly. I really like the way the nurses and secretaries treat us, too. When my daughter was a baby, she had surgery for crossed eyes. She has done great from that, and they continue to monitor her for another condition that requires regular care. My father has several businesses in different states, and he spends a huge amount of time on the road. When I found out that he was struggling with cataracts, I insisted that he come to town to Dr. Snyder for consultation. The doctor had my trust, and he gave my father the same feeling. The next time my father came to town after the consultation, his surgery was set up. My father's surgery went beautifully. Even on the ride home from the surgery, my father was already wheeling and dealing by cell phone with one of his businesses. I could not be happier for all that they do for us. I have referred two other friends' families there, too, and they have been very happy with their care. read more

I was a little concerned taking my daughter to this office after reading the reviews, but Dr. Snyder was recommended by my wife's eye doctor, so we gave it a shot. I couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. The front desk staff was friendly, and saw us on time. The office and waiting area was clean and inviting. My 21 month old daughter was very apprehensive when Dr. Snyder came in to see her, clinging to me and screaming. He calmly sat down and told me we could take our time and do as much as we were comfortable with. He left the office and gave me 10 minutes to calm my daughter down. With the help of 2 friendly nurses, my daughter calmed down and when Dr. Snyder came in a second time, he slowly approached my daughter and was finger puppets to track her eye movement and help establish a calming effect. It worked great. He was able to do a thorough exam while I was holding my daughter and was very friendly, informative, and professional. I would recommend this office to anyone and will be using Dr. Snyder for further check ups for my daughter. read more
