It was my first time dining at Steven's steakhouse. I was there for a retirement celebration dinner. It was Sunday evening and the place was packed. There was a special event going on. Music was very loud and many people were dancing in a small dancing area. The noise level is so loud that my Apple Watch gave me a warning that exposure to this level of noise will cause hearing loss. There was a total of eleven of us. We ordered some appetizers (a combo platter with various fried stuff, and stuffed mushrooms), prime ribs, New York steak with shrimp scampi, Italian surf and turf, and many other entrees. Each entree comes with choice of soup or salad plus homemade pasta (which is a small side of spaghetti with sauce). Bread is served at the beginning. The bread is excellent. The side of spaghetti is very good. The sauce is slightly spicy which I liked. But someone at my table didn't care for it being spicy. I had the Italian surf and turf which includes 8-oz Filet mignon and 6-Oz lobster tail and lobster ravioli. The Filet mignon was okay (average). The lobster tail was over cooked. The best thing on my plate was the lobster ravioli. Needless to say, I was disappointed. For the prices they charge, I expected to have a delicious well prepared meal. Parking for this place is terrible. The parking lot is very small. Street parking is very limited. I would not be coming back. First of all, food was just average but prices are high. First time coming here on Father's Day. We made an appointment online, which was super easy, and there's plenty of parking in the lot. We walked around to the main entrance, and it took them less than five minutes to seat us. Parking can be challenging on busy nights, especially when they have dancing events, even though they have a huge parking lot. The ambiance is very intimate with fairy lights and red lighting in the background. The ceiling is beautiful, and the restaurant feels elegant and classy without feeling intimidating. The menu is very reasonable, and the meat is just as good as other steakhouses. Customer service here is truly five-star. Portions are good, service is fast, and there are lots of food options. Best of all, they have dance classes like Bachata and Salsa nights. They have a dance floor where you can dance, and before the Salsa night there was a Frank Sinatra impersonator singing his songs. Overall, the vibe is five-star, the customer service is five-star, and the food is five-star. We will definitely come back for special occasions. Today, we found out they had a Father's Day special for $35 that came with ribeye, lobster, a side salad, and another side dish. We were so happy with the dinner and service. This place is a different experience. It feels very homey, elegant, and classy. It's like coming to a wedding as a guest without the cake cutting and wedding program. If you like steakhouses, this place is highly recommended. It's right next to the 5 Freeway and close to the Citadel. I can't believe the owner himself was the one ushering us to our seats when he could have easily left everything to his employees. He was so humble that I thought he was just one of the staff members. I also can't believe he knew my son ordered a crème brûlée. When the bill came, he had taken it off the bill and treated my son to dessert. Who does that these days? We ordered coffee which came in such a fancy set up with chocolate crumbles, whipped cream and cinnamon sticks, so fancy! Definitely one for the books. Watch out for their specials from time to time. Salad: well dressed and great variety of tomatoes, carrots, corn, and olives Fried plate: super crispy, the calamari was well fried and served with both tarter and cocktail sauce. It came with over a pound of fries, so great to share with the table. I got the pastrami sandwich and it was over a foot long. It was packed with meat and accompanied with a mountain of fries. This was more than enough for me to eat and acted as an entirely separate meal for me to take home. Surf and turf: huge piece of steak and a butte lobster tail to accompany it. It comes with a potato, your way, whether that be baked or mashed and some grilled veggies. It was also a huge portions. For dessert we got chocolate and carrot cake. Both were pretty good, I like the carrot cake better. This place fills up pretty quickly and they have both valet parking and some street parking around the restaurant. I will say that it is pretty dark inside, so you may need to use your phone as a flashlight or bring your reading glasses to see the menu. read more

The food was delicious and good portions for the price. The staff are very attentive, they dressed in black and white attire, look and act professionally. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. In addition to the main dining room, they have a lounge with live entertainment. The banquet rooms are available for private parties or concerts (ticket required for admission). They really go all out for the holidays with dinner specials, happy hour and nightly entertainment. They decorate so beautifully and lighting is nicely done from the top to bottom. I recommend this restaurant for a date night or special occasion. I've had a company Christmas party here years ago, my father-in-law has had several low rider awards banquets here and now my brother-in-law celebrated his 50th birthday here. While I've never been to the restaurant side, the catering side is pretty good. The buffet we ordered was steak, shrimp scampi, rosemary potatoes, mashed potatoes, antipasto and cobb salads and zucchini medley. Every one of our 100+ guests raved of the food. The restrooms were in need of a good cleaning, though, it smelled like a gas station restroom, and the paper towels were just on the sink counter instead of the dispenser. The bar area was in need of a remodel and the drinks were pretty expensive ($16.00 for a Don Julio rocks margarita) but tasted oh so good! We only had one waitress handling the sodas, water and tea and I kinda felt bad for her as she seemed overwhelmed, but she never once complained or was rude. She was polite and friendly and kept coming back to the tables that needed drinks. Javier, the banquet manager was just great. He had a wonderful and jovial personality and kept checking on us, the hosts, but more importantly, all of our guests. He stayed for the whole event, even past midnight. Parking was a bit of an issue, not when we arrived, but as the night wore on. There was also a 90th birthday celebration in the next room with about 100 or so people, plus the restaurant guests. So keep that in mind if you have a big party. Getting here was a bit confusing as the roads and freeway on ramps all convene, but if you're patient and paying attention, you should make it no problem. I feel like I'm trippin' balls or something because I'm the only person that seems not super thrilled about the steak here. Slightly burned on the end. Parking is free on the street or they have valet on site. Overall - indoor seating was dark (at least restrooms are bright). My first time coming here after seeing the $29.95 steak n lobster and my lady mentioned she has been here with her family in the past. Our reservations was for 7:30 Friday night. We arrived around 7:10 and parked in valet parking lot for $9, because parking was full. The hostess was stated will be 20 minute wait and advised us to go to the bar and we did see the live singing. We finally were seated around 8:05pm, but understandably, because graduation parties. They seated us near the stage to see the amazing singing by a gentleman and female awesome shows. While we were dining the restaurant had a power outage. Our waiter told us he couldn't get our bill printed and asked us to give him our credit card number. We refused and said how can we trust that? A waitress at the table across from us told all her tables that dinner was on the restaurant due to no power, one table had 14 people! How was this fair? Our waiter had the worst attitude and said he'd been there for 30 years and we could trust him. We refused again to leave our credit card number. When my husband's plate was incorrect, the waiter said that's what you get, no light in the kitchen. What kind of attitude is that? We never had any problems at Steven's before and even had our daughter's wedding reception there. The restaurant never apologized or tried to make things better for us. read more

Came to a steakhouse and ordered chicken wings with spicy garlic edamame. Large portions of crispy, buffalo wings, style drumsticks, super crispy, lightly salted, and very filling. The edamame was delicious with a nice light to it and the umami flavor. I've always heard great things about this restaurant. After dinner stayed for the salsa dancing, they have several dance floor, one dance floor great for beginners and the other for intermediate and advance dancers. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Next time, we'll definitely have to try some steak here. Valet parking available by the restaurant otherwise street parking is also available. When you're inside, it's like being in a movie. You're half expecting to see Sinatra at the bar and Sammy Davis Jr. on stage. They were even doing salsa lessons while we were there. It is hard for people who have not lived in Los Angeles to realize how radically the Santa Ana figures in the local imagination. I saw the Palisades fire flying in and checked in daily with my LA based friends. Two of them based in Beverly Hills needed a break from the terrible air quality and stress so we met up at Stevens for dinner and salsa dancing. It's in East LA County outside of the disaster zone. It's a large facility for both dinner and private events. The food is mostly lowbrow steakhouse with a few Mexican items added to flesh out the menu. Started with sashimi and enjoyed that very much as well as the bread and onion soup. All of our steaks were cooked medium instead of medium rare but they were still decent as were the sides. Mojito tasted nice and corkage is very reasonable at $15 for first bottle, $30 for second bottle. I brought a magnum, didn't see what they charged us. Service was super friendly and efficient. Of course you don't really come here for the food, you are here to dance and that did not disappoint. The salsa band was great! Big dance floor that was filled with people wanting to let off a little steam from the tough week. There were a few openers before the band but they are just for ambiance. This location is used to host our union meetings, which typically have around 50-100 people attending, depending on how large of an event it is. The meal options for these union events are chicken breast, salmon fillet, beef, or vegetables. Each is served with mashed potatoes and some steamed veggies on the side, smothered in sauce or gravy, and a cheesecake as dessert. It tasted adequate, but for the price we (union members) pay to attend ($5), it is worth the quantity and quality. It is nothing fancy or flavorful, I think it's a fair price. The decor and environment feel like a wedding event. Service was decent but a little slow. I felt there could be more efficient service because we were given cards marked (C, F, B, or V) corresponding to chicken, fish, beef, or vegetables. The card was placed on our table, so the servers would have to manually search and give the meals depending on the letter. If the servers can't see that you had a card, then they would miss you. If they served Beef first, then you could wait a long time until you got your Chicken meal, for example. They could have just placed all tickets on a card holder in the middle of the table for all to see how many cards of which meals would be needed, rather than search one by one each table and each person. Just my two cents. Overall, a decent banquet hall. It wasn't too flashy, but the price for the food and ambience is fair. Also, the bathroom is located upstairs. I couldn't find any on the floor level, so if you have trouble walking up a flight of stairs or are in a wheelchair, I am not sure how you can use the bathroom. Summary: - CLEANLINESS. Clean and organized. The interior looks old. - COSTS. $ Affordable. $5 for me to attend for a pretty big lunch meal. I am not sure how much the total event cost our union. - CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff was slow. We never had to ask for anything during our meal or had any issues. They cleaned up our plates pretty quickly. - FOOD QUALITY. Decent. On par with slightly better cafeteria food. - FOOD QUANTITY. Standard portion size. - WAIT TIME. Slow, but is understandable because we had over 100 people. read more

Came here for a Salsa Dance fun night. First visit. Its NAME tells all, this is a typical American steakhouse with fusion of other cultural foods. The place comes alive more at night with karaoke and dance at the main dining area and the Latin dance in the adjacent dance hall which is huge, about the size of a high school basketball court. It seems to a popular hang out hub for the locals. It's busy on a Friday night and there was a birthday party going on but we were seated within 10min. Parking was easy for us. They have a modest sized parking lot at the back of the steakhouse and also $8 valet parking, of course the neighboring street parkings as a back up. The salsa dance hall did not open till 930pm so we dined the restaurant. It's smart to have the dance hall because it brings newcomers to the restaurant like us. My friend enjoyed her water melon margarita; she actually wanted to try the mojito but it was out. The dishes come in big servings. We skipped the steak and lobster. She ordered an open French sandwich ( pork and dip) with French fries, she was only able to finish half of it and I would not recommend it. I tried the scallop pasta with "homemade" Alfredo sauce. About 5-6 pieces of small scallops and they were tender but could be more flavorful. The pasta was super creamy with shaded Parmesan cheese pieces and some dried green herbs. It came with the choice of either a house salad or soup. The salad was acceptable. If you want to sample their foods, perhaps weekday lunches will help to save a few bucks or happy hours. We had free bread rolls which was so fresh and buttery. And the white tablecloth covered tables, which adds elegance to the whole dinning experience. It's right off the 5 Fwy and nested in the Commerce neighborhood, not a fancy place but it's trying really hard to maintain the old glories. It has a decent size of both outdoor and indoor dinning area. I didn't see anyone outside. Now onto the Latin dance party floor! Right off the bat, we were surprised that there was a $20 entrance fee. Notes to the restaurant manager, please offer some sort of discount for the guests who dined at the restaurant versus people who just show up for the Latin dance. Nonetheless, we decided to stay for the dance night because that's our destination in the first place. It was fun to hang out with our Salsa dance group because most people actually came. We took turns to dance with one another, it was indeed a fun night! But I am not coming back to the dance hall because the music was too loud and you can't really hear the tempo, I felt I was dancing off beat, I did much better in the class.
