I'm giving a star for the convenient location. I walked in this morning after dropping off my car for an oil change nearby. No one greeted me or made eye contact from behind the counter for a minute or two. I tried to find prices written anywhere but there are NONE. I asked for a multigrain bagel ($1.39) and scallion cream cheese ($2.39) and when I saw the price I asked if it's true that the cream cheese costs more than the bagel. The reply was" I don't make the prices". Rude. I asked how much would butter on a bagel be, and the answer was, another $1.50. I declined and asked for just a bagel and coffee. Although the bagels are very good, there are too many other things that are bad about this place. The wait time is ridiculous if you order anything other than a plain bagel that they put it in a bag for you -- not toasted not buttered. One time I did ask for butter on my bagel and it was an extra dollar+, Is that unbelievable! Every time I go in there the place has a room full of people waiting for their orders and what's most aggravating is the absent prices for all the menu items. They keep saying that there's a problem with getting a menu posted but it's been at least 4-5 months now that I haven't seen any prices so you constantly have to ask how much is this, how much is that??!! What business doesn't post their prices I don't get it, it seems that they can just charge whatever they want since nobody knows how much anything is. This place is a pass for me. There are no prices listed anywhere. So you have no idea what you're ordering costs. Two sandwiches and a juice cost $20. We went here on a Saturday, which is understandably a busy day, but we waited an hour for food. I'm not kidding. My boyfriend asked the status of our order several times (which was two sandwiches- bacon egg and cheese) only to be met with "we're working on it" or "yes we are busy today. it's on its way" and "we're making it right now." Meanwhile people who were in line behind us and new visitors just came and went. We thought it was an off day and tried again on a Thursday morning. There weren't many people in the store. Two people in front of us when we walked in. It took 10 minutes to order. A few people came in after us. And we experience the same thing as the first time. People came in ordered, got their food and left. So I went up and asked if our order was close. Come to find out, they never put the ticket up for the cook to prepare. So they ended up rushing it. The bagels weren't toasted the cheese wasn't melted through. They were soggy from all the grease. They lady we spoke with was kind, but pointed the blame saying the other lady never put the slip up and they are extremely short staffed. They had three people working. I'm not sure if that is short staffed. She ended up giving us a couple muffins for the wait which we haven't tried yet. I'm so disappointed because I typically love local bagel spots. But the fact they have no prices displayed is very strange to me. I'm sure they had to adjust for inflation and rising costs, but they should display them. i love steve's more than anything in my life (sorry mom & dad). always delicious, i get breakfast sandwiches and bagels usually and ive never been disappointed. one time i cut my finger trying to slice a bagel with my dumb dull knife and since then they always pre-slice them for me. the employees have written me little notes on my receipts, drawn little pictures on the bag, and honestly just go above and beyond and it always makes my day! the bagels are the kind that get crispy and bubbly on the outside when you toast them, and theyre soft and chewy on the inside. they always taste fresh and the cream cheese is also yummy. breakfast sandwiches always get to me hot and gooey and perfect. go to steves NOW!!!! read more

This was an unexpected major win on our drive to Massachusetts. My husband wanted Panera, I suggested finding a local bagel spot. Steve's was the winner. My husband and I each had bagel sandwiches (he had the Thanksgiving inspired bagel sammie and I had the mamacita with breaded chicken on an Asiago bagel) and all our kids had blueberry bagels. The bagel sandwiches in particular were just outstanding ("off the hook" - direct quote from my husband). Staff was so friendly and engaged with my kiddos asking them questions about our Christmas celebrations yesterday. We only make this northern pilgrimage once a year but hope to stop at Steve's Bagels many more times in the years to come! read more

The Mark is a good sandwich, with egg, cheese and corned beef hash on your choice of bagel. My recent visit, I ordered, and PAID, over the phone. When I arrived, I asked the woman who was handing out completed orders of ours was ready, to which she replied 'they will take you at the register' even though I told her I'd already paid. After an 8 min wait online for the register, the person there looked at the completed orders and it was sitting there the whole time getting cold. When I told the register person I had asked the woman handing out the orders that she wouldn't look for it and sent me to the line, she over heard me and gave me a nasty look. First off the prices on Uber eats and the actual location are different as they actually don't even have the price listed in the store for some reason.This place claims to be some type of New York type of deli but the only thing New York about it is the price. How does a Chicken Philly cheese stake cost $15? Like I get inflation but Jesus $15 for a dry sandwhich with a bag of expired chips plus almost $3.0 for a 20Flz Oz of Pepsi put me out almost $20 for the price I could've gone to any regular restaurant and had a more filling and frankly appetizing meal; and if your looking for a chicken filly cheesesteak you're already in Manchester why not just go to Charlie's at least you'll get your bang for your buck. Okay, bare with me: Menu has the prices blocked off so you don't even know how much you'll end up paying until they finish taking the order. The lady taking the order just seemed miserable and it felt like I was a burden putting my order in. Now I know my order was going to be a big one (4 bagel sandwiches, one toasted bagel, and a bagel with veggie cream cheese) but I let her know in advance and slowly went through the order, which came out to 48 dollars (outrageous in my opinion). It was busy so I expected to wait about 15 mins but I got my order and I've learned to always check your order before you leave and thank goodness I did. I was missing a sandwich, in which the cook informed me I had to open all the sandwiches so they could look inside to see which one was missing. Now in my opinion, you should WRITE the type of sandwich you made on the wrapping to avoid this. But anyway we figure out which one it was and they remake the sandwich. Get home come to find out, one bagel they used the wrong cream cheese. Another bagel sandwich they used the wrong bagel type. Another bagel sandwich I said no cheese (lactose intolerant) and behold, there's cheese. Not to mention as I'm going through my order with the cook, another person complained they were given the wrong sandwich. Honestly, I recommend you avoid this place and take the extra 5 minutes to goto between rounds up the street or even reins deli. Both of those places have way more hits than misses, and based on this experience I will not be returning. Walked in on a busy rainy Saturday morning. That's a good sign in my book! The staff, although working hard treated me as if I was their first customer of the day!!!! The food is great. This store is baking everything fresh. As I waited on my order fresh warm bagels were being put out. With the prices I have been paying at fast chain shops, I'd much prefer to spend my money here and get way better food! This is a serve yourself stop. There is no drive through, but don't let that stop you from going here. It's worth it. You order, they call you when it's ready. There is a sitting area which was clean and organized. Currently there are two locations for Steve's Bagels. The attitude toward good service between the locations is like night and day. The center street, Manchester location, you leave feeling like you were interfering with whatever they were doing. But, at the Tolland turnpike, Vernon you feel quite welcome. So, as a result, if I am craving a Steve's Bagel, I will travel the further distance and go to Vernon. The food I've had at both locations is equally as good. read more

I've eaten a lot of bagels in my time, many of them in New York. Steve's bagels are the best I've had anywhere. They are the freshest bagels around and they have the single quality that separates the good bagels from the bad. When you tear off a piece of a bagel, the two pieces should fight to stay together in a stretchy way. That's a fresh bagel. Steve's Bagels are absolutely amazing. Try the Marlon (bacon, fried egg, cheese on a grilled buttered bagel). It's the best breakfast sandwich around. My wife loves the Queen Leslie which is low-sodium turkey, bacon, mayo and lettuce on an Asiago Pesto Bagel. As for the people whose reviews are complaints about the long wait, I say good things come in time. I think the world has enough terrible bagels at fast food drive-thrus. When Steve's is very busy, I've waited 10-15 mins for a few sandwiches. But most of the time, my sandwich is ready in under 5 minutes. It's worth the wait. No fuss shop with standard hot coffee (with cold brew and nitro cold brew) that you dispense yourself and delicious bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Long story short I've never waited 20 mins for a bagel with Lox in my life... I was fuming mad and to make it worse I had to watch 5 workers in the back do ABSOLUTELY nothing productive to keep the pace of orders flowing. I finally get my order, I do not have high hopes for this meal based off of the experience I just had. However, on the drive home, the smells coming out of the bag are intoxicating. I think to myself, "Well at least the food will be good". First bite: The bagel is KILLER, I mean better than anything you're going to get in the area. The food is good... in fact delicious. So why the 2 star review? The experience is sub par. Sunday morning, tried to order by phone to save time (as it says on their menu to "PLEASE PREORDER FOR FASTER SERVICE"). Line was busy for a while (which is ok.. no complaints for that). The person who took my order was polite and said it would be ready in 15-20 mins. I showed up 20 mins later and went to the pickup window only to be told that the pickup window is only for Uber Eats and GrubHub. I was redirected to the order line. There were a number of people waiting in this line. I just wanted to give them my money and leave, but I had to wait for all the people in front of me to decide, order and pay. Only one register was open, so this was taking quite a bit of time. Finally it gets to me and I get my food and leave. From phone call to leaving the store it took 35 mins. Steve really needs to provide a pickup window to allow any phone-in orders to bypass the order line. It makes no sense, especially since they have a section reserved for pickup services. read more
