I've been going to Edmonds for years. I don't know where all of his mechanics went but now its just him. Took my car in for a oil leak check. He said we would take a look and I gave him my number. Several days go by and still no response. Finally called him to follow up and he tells me he can't fix it and take it to another mechanic. I've been using a rental to go to work and all I get during that time is that he can't fix it? Terrible.. My muffler exploded due backfire caused by timing pin failure. I found Steve's on yelp close by but not close enough to drive there without a muffler, my neighbors were already giving me dirty looks when I moved my car. ( I didn't mention my car is a 1972 Gran Torino Sport ) so hoping to get an early start Saturday morning, didn't work out Auto club, didn't arrive till 9 so we arrived at around 9:20. I was surprised that Steve seemed to be a 1 man show. And only cars there were late model German cars. But I had called ahead and Was told to bring it in. This place is top quality!! I've been coming here since the shop was at it's previous location in Glendale. Despite the business name being named Steve's Muffler, the shop is neither owned by a Steve (Owner is a great BMW enthusiast named Edmond) and theys do much more than mufflers. I've brought 2 BMWs (and referred many others) here for work such as brakes, suspension, exhaust/welding, synthetic BMW oil changes, light body work (install of side skirts, front lip), etc. I wholeheartedly trust Edmond with my precious M3. He has fixed things wrong with my car simply by driving it around the block. His knowledge is very high and his prices are (probably) unmatched. I had to do some coilover fabrication for my E34 steering knuckles which have mild steel tubes for old school insert-style strut cartridges. There were some tight points and a mixture of 3 different types of metal that needed to be joined together. Edmond is the best! I have two BMWs, a 2004 325i and a 2008 335i. Both of them are old cars, and just because you own a BMW doesn't mean you have to pay dealer prices to get good work done. Every single time I go in, Edmond is extremely honest and shows me the part he replaced. A couple of times he has given me estimates and actually come in under that estimate. I have taken my girlfriend's MB C280 there as well and he does great work on her car. Definitely call ahead and arrange a time to drop off your car if you can. read more

My other garage recommended Steve's Muffler when they found a crack in my rear swaybar support (common problem on the E36 M3) and the welding would have been too heavy duty for them. I'm happy they sent me here! I called ahead to book an appointment and, even though I arrived later because of a rather long drive, my car was taken right in and promptly given attention. Everything was done quicker than I excepted (had him install UUC supports as well, which need to be welded on) and for a fair price. If you need welding work, I would definitely recommend this place. I talked to some other customers and they mentioned getting all sorts of work done on their BMWs here as well. I can't speak to that, but based on the sheer number of BMWs sitting around, I wouldd bet they're very capable with more than just mufflers and welding. Thanks for the job well done! read more

Yea...so I stopped by this spot because I saw all of the great Yelp reviews. Granted, there were only 5 reviewers all saying that they had a fantastic experience with them so I thought, "Well, they could all be friends of the owner trying to give a good word to increase business. Or it's just in an obscure part of town that no one would have thought that a muffler shop resided there. Hence, so very little reviews. Or, this place is just that damn good of a muffler shop that no one wanted to report their experiences to the world so that they can have this place all to themselves. Hence, also, so very little reviews." I was hoping it was the third, but alas, this wasn't the case. At least from my experience. Yelp never mentioned what hours that they were opened on a Saturday. The Yellow Pages mentioned that they opened at 8:30 am. So that's the time I popped in. As it turns out, they weren't open and the smog check shop that shares the same lot with them? They said that the shop opened at 9am. So fine, I drove around town to kill time and came back at about 9am. Shop was open. Lots of Bimmers and other rare cars blocked the entire drive way as well as having some rare cars already in the shop. I thought that it couldn't be that bad if they have so many rare cars and Bimmers in their shop. It certainly gave the "impression" that they are a busy shop. I'll give them that. But it could very well be the case that the owner is just a car enthusiast and likes to keep a bunch of Bimmers and rare cars in his backyard like many auto repair shops that specialize in, say, Mazda, or Honda, or European imports for spare parts or for testing purposes. I get there and some guy that supposedly works there said that the owner isn't in and that they won't work on any cars until the owner gets in. O~~~kay. Yea.....I suppose that's fine. I gave the owner a whole 45 minutes waiting there for him to come in but he never came. I was actually gonna give him a 2 hour window because, ya know, shit happens but at the same time, if your business says that you're open for business at 9am (or 8:30am in the case of the Yellow Pages), you should be "open for business." You know, ready to do work the moment that clock strikes 9am (or 8:30am)? I'd be actually okay with it, if he just opened shop and needed a few minutes, say, 15 minutes to get their mojo on and heads working. Everyone has those days every so while. But this was not that either. A whole 45 minutes I waited there for the owner who never showed up. You can imagine I was pretty upset. I woke up bright and early and showed early only to find that the shop wasn't open, as per the Yellow Pages, and on top of that, no work will be performed until the owner gets in. I wanted to be "Wowed" by this place based on the great reviews but no work ever got done and the only person there, while he was not entirely expressive, said the owner should be in a few minutes. Those few minutes ended up being 45 minutes. That's way longer than "just a few minutes." Just saying. All that I can say about this place is, if you plan on showing up early right when the shop opens and hoping you can get your exhaust system checked out and repaired early and leave early so you can have the rest of your day to yourself? Upon arriving, I noticed a lot full of BMW's which made me a little nervous due to the fact that the car I brought in is Japanese and over 35 years old. I couldn't have been more pleased at the job quality and service. One of the things most important to me is that the technician was giving me a rundown on things as he proceeded on the work. I have a Nissan Altima 2010 coupe 2.5s they did a custom cat back exhaust system with a magnaflow axleback, I am pleased with their work and not to mention their prices are spot on.
