Burned my clutch on a cold winder day back from skiing, I had several quotes from shops in town, and on my way to get the final quote from the last shop, I noticed Clutch Exchange bu chance, and decided to stop for a minute. Dave offered me not only the best quote but also a Kevlar upgrade option for the clutch. I ended up not only replacing the clutch for the fairest rate in town, but also replacing the timing belt, pumps and other belts - all at once, with genuine parts, for about 40-50% lower price than at any other shop I checked. Later on, took my wife's car as the tranny wasn't smooth - the guys fixed that as well for fair price. Dave and his team are honest, do a good job and when it comes to clutches and big tranny or engine works - they are my first go-to shop in town.

Fixed a couple minor vacuum and electrical issues caused by previous owner, and new CAT....and guess what....while the car sat underneath a tree for 11 months, and a number of emission test attempts, still couldn't resolve the emissions issue. His resolve, was to register the car in another state. Fed up with situation, I went to pick my car, to find that they had to jump it to get it started. Rains charged me for a new battery, that I had to replace a month later. They're an upgrade, bolt-on shop for newer cars.....Again, 11 months and couldn't resolve or even find the actual issue causing the emissions test to fail. I didn't bother writing a review at the time; just wasn't worth the effort, but as I was customizing my car after the occurrence, I found another VR4 owner who had a poor experience with Rains, but that's his story to tell. So, I wanted to make other people aware about the shop and how they do business. I have all receipts and documents, which shows timeline and obscene costs, if debated or questioned on the facts. Now, I'm sure the owner, will reply and try to talk himself out of the factual occurrences, by either downplaying the situation or speaking poorly of me. That's fine. But facts are facts....for a "pro" shop to have a car for 11 months and can't resolve a emissions issue on a car with only 62K miles on it, is just ridiculous.

Ok whatever, I wait another two weeks and they finally call me to tell me they THINK there's some broken springs in the head but need to tear it down, I give them the ok on the tear down. I wait ANOTHER 3 weeks and then they call me to tell me that my car is ready! Wtf?! Ok so what was wrong with it? What kind of parts did you put in it? What if I wanted them ported and polished? Zero communication, they just decided to fix it. I didn't give the okay to fix anything! Just to tear down the heads! So I ask what was wrong, I was told there were broken springs and they replaced them with all forged parts, and the wait time on port and polish would be months and same with built thitek heads. Which is complete bullshit, bc I called around.... So I ask how much the bill is and the owner tells me $8k!! I tell them I didn't authorize any repairs and he says they can tear it back down but still going to be $4k. At this point I don't don't want them even touching my car anymore. I bite the bullet and pay $8k.. not even 2 weeks later I notice there is a substantial oil leak in my garage I take it to another shop and they tell me I have a rear main seal leak and missing/mismatched bolts on my oil pan!Thank god I was watching my oil pressure or these dipshits would've made me seize my built motor!! At this point I'm livid, so I call them to tell them they fucked up. The owner tells me that they didn't go anywhere near the rear main or oil pan. Well who the fuck did then?! It didn't have any leaks before I brought it to them and no other shop has touched my car since the motor was built. The block was painted so you can tell someone was in there because they put in the mismatched bolts in the oil pan. They of course denied, denied, denied...GO FIGURE RIGHT?! so now I get to pay another few thousand to have my rear main done bc of these crooks. Basically their customer service is a fucking joke just like their workmanship. Save yourself ALOT of money and a HUGE headache and just AVOID AVOID AVOID this place!! Wish I could give 0 stars!! Go to CAP performance in denver if you want someone that knows wtf they are doing and are honest and stand behind their work. Customer service is 10000 times better also...

I recently inherited a car, and there was a question of whether its engine needed to be replaced. The first thing I found out about Colorado Engine is that they have the best deals. For my vehicle, they would install a remanufactured engine with 4-year no-fault parts and labor guarantee with no mileage limit, for $7260: $4365 for the engine and $2895 to install it. They have used engines available too. And they were glad to spend time explaining all the details on the phone - no rush.  I called two other places, and neither even offered remanufactured engines. They have mechanics who personally rebuild existing engines. The process takes about 5 weeks, costing $7500 - $8400. And their warranties weren't as good. So just call Colorado Engine first! (Unless you are particularly attached to your own personal engine.)  So I was getting ready to go ahead and get the engine. I figured it was either that or get a different car. But I couldn't make a different car work out financially. So I called and told them I wanted to start the process to get a remanufactured engine. And they said, "Can we look at your car first, just to see if it really needs the engine? Maybe we can fix it." So I said "Sure." I brought it in and they examined It. And it didn't need an engine! It only needed a radiator cap, and in the future, a fan clutch! I don't gamble, but I felt like I had won the lottery! These people are not only kind, but knowledgeable and honest, too!  So if your car needs an engine replacement, call Colorado Engine - you'll be very happy!

They came through, when I needed them the most! Comprehensive review below…read more Problem: Late night, our Nissan truck overheated about 12 miles from home. Next day, I called Brakes Plus-Commerce City to see if they could look at it. Yep, I retuned the next day with coolant to our parked truck. My solution: I figured the Thermostat was bad, so I added a gallon of coolant and drove with the Heater on full. Surely I could drive 12 miles to Brakes Plus. Nope! Drove about 8 miles--that's it. Stuck on E470. Actions: Called E470 Roadside Assist. No towing recommendations. Called State Farm--no recommendations. Called two Towing companies I know. They couldn't get to me for many hours (this is the Christmas holidays). Called Brakes Plus. They recommended Quality Performance Towing LLC. Yep! Jose was on his way! He hooked up, towed, and gave me a VERY REASONABLE FEE! Highly recommend his company!!! Service: Brakes Plus did a pressure test on the radiator, and there was a small crack at the top (explains why the coolant sprayed under the entire hood instead of the overflow pipe!). I asked them to replace the radiator, Thermostat (just makes sense for a $21 part), and rotate tires. On further inspection, the front brake pads were at 2mm and the driver's wheel bearing needed packing. I figured the bearing had an issue because the truck pulled to the left and made shudder vibrations on hard turns. Battery amps were low too, but I recently replaced the battery, so I asked them to check the Alternator. Yep! The alternator's diode has ripple current, which leads to inconsistent battery charging. I can live with that for a while longer. Long story longer: Michael and the entire team, clearly detailed each service, the cost, the diagnostic results, and the warranty on each item--including labor. I know people in Reunion area that will go to "the other repair service company," (as I did for many years), but Brakes Plus is thorough, knowledgeable, fast, and efficient! THEY WON ME OVER!
