We had a visit from Randy at Steward Appliance to fix a broken bar fridge. He thought it was going to be a simple job, but when he arrived he discovered that we had a broken condenser and he said it was going to be more expensive to repair than to replace the whole thing. He was straightforward with his advice and honest, and didn't try to talk us into any uncharges or unnecessary work. He only charged us a minimal fee for the visit and gave me some ideas for who to talk to about a replacement. I was very happy with the visit and with Randy. Our microwave door seemed to have a broken latch and we were looking at replacing it even though it it was not that old. Getting it out and a new one in is a big operation. Randy found the parts and repaired the door, restoring functionality without needing a replacement. Big sigh of relief and a job well-done. Our wine cooler had not been working properly for months. I live in Boston and made several calls, but no one serviced our brand - Marvel. My washer broke this weekend, which was Labor Day weekend (naturally!) so I did some research and called a couple of places.. no one was open, of course. I called Stewart Appliance on Monday (Labor Day) and left a message. Randy called me back within an hour, on Labor Day (!), and spent at least 15 minutes on the phone with me, even though he doesn't service our type of washer (Samsung).. he had me describe the symptoms and run the washer and describe what was happening, then recommended we buy a new washer because he felt this one would cost almost as much to repair it. I offered to send him money for his time, but he declined. Clearly very honest, very diligent, really nice. I will absolutely call him again for any future service requests he might be able to help us with. I was so impressed. read more

Randy was recommended by our plumber to fix our dishwasher. Though I mostly fixed it myself, he did that last one critical bit that only took a few minutes and he stayed to make sure it was fully working. Randy was extremely polite and easy to work with. He came and fixed my oven which had been out of service for a while because another appliance repair company kept giving me the runaround about finishing the work they started on it. I watched as Randy methodically and calmly made the repair to my oven, answering questions I asked along the way (being a person that like's to know how things work). I called Stewart Appliance when our beverage cooler stopped working. First they suggested a couple of minor things that I could do to try to get it going again, but neither worked. So I called again and Randy came to the house to take a look, arriving 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Within 5 minutes he had diagnosed the problem, but it was a repair that he couldn't do. So he referred me to someone else, having told me exactly what to tell the repairman about the problem. I made the call and had the repair done within the week. While Randy wasn't able to fix the problem himself, I couldn't have been more impressed with his professional manner, courtesy, and promptness. When he was leaving the house, I asked him how much I owed him for his efforts and he told me that I owed him nothing. His policy is that if he can't fix the problem, there is no charge. I told him that I wanted to give him something for coming to the house, but he refused. This kind of attitude is so refreshing.
