It is so sad to give a 1 to this business. We have been coming here for years. The customer service is so horrible now. It has always been a very busy shop but not now. We ordered a meat pack and the lady who took the order apparently never put it in. Said come back tomorrow afternoon. We went back 3 times. We wait almost 24 hours to get the meat we ordered and paid for. Then, when we get ready to make dinner the next day, the hamburger meat was all brown and smelled awful. Why go back to get more gross food? They were all so rude except the owner, The butcher dude is an asshole and the old lady who works there must have dementia or she just does not care on bit about the people who come in and pay her wages. I was very disappointed yesterday, I had a wedding to go to that was only 10miles from Stewart's meat so I did a detour and picked up beef jerkey for several people. I ordered the old Famous and when I got home the next day I realized they put Garlic jerkey and not old famous. I called store and was told I needed to drive back to shop, almost 2 hours away to exchange. I have been going to this place since I was a kid making quarterly visits. You would think they could just mail 1 pound to my residence. The rest of my order was correct but of course mine was wrong. Steve and I had a very good experience with Stewart's Meat Market and apparently a lot of other people do too because of you don't get here early it can get pretty crazy. Not only did we get here fairly early we still needed to pick a number and wait our turn to get waited on. They have it down to a science though and try to get their customers on their way fairly efficiently. We bought several sausages here that we really liked. One was a buffalo blueberry sausage, a pineapple chicken sausage and a Jalapeño cheddar sausage. We put them on the grill on a weekend we had the opportunity to do so and it was amazing! You can also get quite a few exotic meats here like ostrich for example and various others. Apparently the hamburgers here are amazing. I spotted a Jalapeño one and would love to get that next time we swing by and I believe there was a garlic one too. Definitely a good place to go for high quality meat and the extra plus as far as Steve and I are concerned are the more exotic meat options and sausage and hamburger combinations! read more

We came in on Tuesday at 8:30 in the morning. When we came in, the first thing we noticed was it smelled so good. Everything was clean and we were greeted warmly by everyone. Everything was fresh, and they were still unpacking into the display cases while we were there. They have some of our favorites, like the Buffalo blueberry sausages, the German sausage and their Prime Ribeye. And a spicy jaeger stick for the road, of course. We have been loyal customers of theirs from when we first saw them in the Olympia farmer's market. They told us that we can order anything we like two days before market day, and they will bring it to the Olympia farmer's market for pickup! While they are worth the drive, it is good to have options. They sell T-shirts, honey, PIE!!!, seasonings and soup mixes in addition to their meats. They had an excellent range of meats, from your typical pork and beef to alligator, ostrich, antelope, and kangaroo to name a few ones you might not expect. This is worth the trip (and be sure to bring a bigger cooler than you need-lots of temptations here). read more

I've heard tales of Stewart's various jerky's and meats, for years now (and I live a few states away). On my last trip to Seattle, I finally made the 45 minute drive and to be honest, I'd drive twice that for these goods! If I was staying in the area, I would try some of their freshly butchered meat selections, but jerky was the easiest thing to take home. I ordered at least a pound of each option. Yes - it was pricey. But it was worth it! A big THANK YOU to the woman who helped me, she sold me on a sample and I think she said it was her second day working there - but she was great! I also asked them to vacuum seal everything in 1/2 lb. segments. I felt bad for making them work so much, but no one seemed to blink at my request and each bag had a sticker marking the type of jerky. Now for the jerky itself - ALL of it is excellent! I made a decent size order to have shipped for Christmas and when we received our items the vacuum seal was broke and the items were moldy. I took pictures and called immediately. I went to Stewart's on the advice of a good friend who's family has done business there since they opened. My first trip there in late June. I was impressed with the quality of there product. The steaks where perfectly marbled tender and delicious. So I returned on the third of July and purchased five prime ribeye for a fourth of July BBQ. The gal brought the steaks out and the one on top was a nice steak. Yesterday when I opened the package I was very disappointed. All four steaks that where under that top steak where of a poor grade. I could have gotten select steaks at sarrs for a fraction of the cost. This order ruined my fourth of July BBQ. Which I was into for well over 300 dollars. $125 of which was spent on the steaks. I can understand that they might have been running short on product with it being the fourth of July. But these steaks where purposely hidden under a steak of there normal quality. So it is obvious that the person who sold them to me was very much aware of the poor quality. I had no choice but to BBQ the steaks as I had guests there weighting to be fed. I am going to contact the store on Monday to speak to someone in there upper management and give them an opertunity to make this purchase rite. I truly hope that they make up for this disaster by replacing the four steaks that where not prime as that is what I paid for. If not I will let everyone I know not to shop there. And inform them all that this place will do anything to put money in there till. I may be a small fish in there see of costumers. But believe me when I say my voice will be heard for a long ways and a long time. On the other hand if they appalligize and offer to make it rite I will continue to shop there. But will be cautious at holidays and check my purchase before they are wrapped. It is very unfortunate that this employee would tarnish the reputation of the store in this manner. read more

Ordered a box with two types of beef jerky, Landjaeger, and a sausage. Unfortunately, everything was really disappointing. The jerky was excessively wet--literally dripping and sitting in a bag full of liquid, which was really off-putting. Be prepared sometime especially around holidays the wait time can be a little longer but it is well worth it. The wait is generally long as time is taken with every customer to make sure they get exactly what is needed. This is why long wait so don't come here expecting to be in n out in five minutes Everything have had from here is extremely high quality and cooks up much better than other pieces of meat purchased from grocery stores, etc. The ground hamburger is extremely flavorful as well. Hole in thd wall, family owned since 1933 still 'till this day and forever will be! Drove up from Orange County awhile back and being a first born Asian Americans from a household of hardcore meat eaters, had to bring some love back for a family feast. Copped some Rib Eye Elks, Venison, Boar Bacon, Kangaroo Ground for Roo Burgers, some fresh ox tail and jerky. Got dayum I swear it was one of the best tasting meats ever. Venison was pretty gamy but Elk was on deck. Not too much, not too little and full of energy. Zero preservatives. If you want to feel like a true hunter and gatherer from the early BC, this is the place to be. i called yesterday to see if anyone could slice and cut my fresh king i had caught yesterday mrng. she said that she could have someone do it for me. so i arrived 30 mins approx later. waited awhile but that's ok it was a last minute thing :) so the young man had come out we talked about what i would possibly like and he said ok he would do it for me so i asked what time should i arrive tomorrow mrng? he said after 8 am. i said ok .) i came in this mrng and was greeted right away by everyone in there. the young man came in and said where are u parked showed him and then moved my car back to where it would be more accessible for us to get the fish in my car. i was so impressed by his work, his attitude he did and AMAZING Job on filleting it, cutting it etc thank you so much for that amazing work u did read more

Let me start by saying my dad knew the original proprietor, Emmett Stewart, back when they also slaughtered and packed meat to order back in the 60s. They were always good to do business with and we were one of their regulars, from field to freezer. Now, they are strictly a market with a very wide range of everything (including venison, buffalo, even kangaroo!) that would be a vegan's nightmare. And it's good stuff! I like the sausages and the cheese..oh the cheese! the creamy havarti is to die for..and I've also gotten beef tongue as well. It does get busy and crowded during certain times of the day, and you have to pick a number and wait, ..and wait some more, but it's worth it. This is the best Butcher Shope in the State of Washington hands down. The wife I go here a LOT when we need some serious poundage of Meat for the freezer, or we got to Cash and Carry,a.k.a. US FOODS in Tumwater or Olympia. Since we hunt, and fish, I butcher our own cuts of meat. No matter what, either Elk, Deer, Buffalo, or Beef. Jack ath *food is delicious, best jerky & cheese assortments & they have good dog bones, they are always willing to cut the dog bones in half the long way so they don't get stuck on my dogs jaws.
