Partner got honey chicken with rice. Both are delicious! I didn't taste the lemon grass. No matter, it's delicious. The honey chicken was sliced. I liked it the best. I went to this place because I have weekdays off and I wanted to see if this taste like gai yang. I was not disappointed. I had the two leg quarters on sticky rice. The chicken was moist and delicious. The sauce that comes with the chicken is sweet and spicy but good. Gai yang sauce is more on the sweet side. The service was fast and the restaurant is a to go place. I enjoyed the food and hope that you will try it out. I went back and tried the 5 honey chicken. I love the kai ping or gai yang better. I talked to the owner and he told me that this is Laotian street food. I wish they opened on weekends, but I understand that people have to rest. The only ping kai in ABQ. I walked by this place on a discovery walk to see what places were close by to my new office. I have gone in here twice now and have been pleasantly surprised each time. Food here is mostly a first come, first served in terms of options, but everything I have tried is delicious. Service is quick and pretty much everything is to go, making it a very fast easy lunch stop if you forgot lunch, need something fast, or just want to try something fresh/new. Great quick service! The food is super tasty and they make it so quick! We went in for a quick lunch and learned they weren't offering inside seating, which was disappointing, but we came back to the office and enjoyed it! The store is a little old and the ambience isn't really built for inside seating anyway, so we really didn't lose out on much. I got the lemongrass chicken with sticky rice and it was so tasty and was cooked very well! The chili sauce it came with really cleared my sinuses but I couldn't stop eating it. If you live close by, you forgot your lunch, and you want something cheap, this might fit the bill. It's close, it's cheap, and it's not offensive. I would not, however, travel any distance to eat here. This is more like you have a family that has figured out a formula that they can pull off in a semi-restaurant kitchen, and that they are selling as much as possible of. The problem is that the formula demands no real effort or attention. The food here is about as bland as you can get--which for Lao food is kind of strange/shocking. No heat, no spices, no contrasts, nothing--and this includes the sauces which are uncannily bland. The chicken is overcooked (a pretty common problem) and unseasoned, the sticky rice doesn't achieve the oddly satisfying gummy quality it's supposed to have, the fried rice would make Uncle Roger lift his leg from his chair, and the broccoli was, well, steamed broccoli (with nothing added--hot even seasoning). So the result is a big plate of bland/blah. So why three stars instead of two or one? Well, it's certainly not offensive or even bad. And the owner is friendly in a way you want more people to be. It's also, by today's standards, dirt cheap. The problem is just that, despite the cheapness, this is pretty unsatisfying other than a means of not being hungry. read more

This is simplicity at its best. Walk in to the counter...order what you like. Within minutes your order is ready. You can dine in as I did, siting comfortably at a large table. Wifi available. Currently enjoying a large bowl of chicken noodle soup (subbed rice in, noodles out...it is "sticky rice" after all..:). I was glad to be able to try this restaurant. At the moment, they only offer take out order but the food was quickly prepared like when I was in Thailand. The menu was simple - choose the types of chicken you want, choose the side of sticky rice or regular rice, et voila!! I chose the sticky rice and house marinaded chicken. Oh I wish I knew better! Having lived in Asia for almost 10 years, this caught our attention. Another man, heading in, convinced us to give it a try. We are so glad we went in. They pretty much only have chicken, rice and noodles but, that's good enough for us. We've been back twice in one week for the noodle soup. When it's cold outside there is nothing better than some version of Asian noodle soup. This place is novel for one reason, and that's basically reason enough to visit. While southeast Asia is flush with sticky rice -- for many it's a staple for breakfast, lunch and dinner -- you'll find this stuff in precisely one locale in the whole of Albuquerque. It's fun food, too. Seriously, ditch the utensils (after you chop up your chicken and wash your hands, of course) and just shovel this stuff into your mouth; the disposable plates sort of nudge you to get ancestral, and the rice won't stick to your digits, either. The place reminds me of some hole-in-the-wall spots in Manhattan, where a solid, virtually veggie-free belly stuffin' runs less than a ten spot, sometimes less than five.
