Most Thai Restaurants close for an hour from 3pm-4pm and found that this Restaurant was open throughout the whole day and did not close for an hour according to restaurant hours. I drove here all the way from Tracy and even called them to find out if their open. Walked into the restaurant and saw all the staff sitting down and the guy came up to my husband and I and told us "is it to go? Because our kitchen is on break for an hour" WTH! I'm not from the area and only up here when I'm visiting my friend from Manteca, so Asian food is really limited and you gotta make a commitment to drive a little further to Stockton or Modesto. This review is specifically for the papaya salad and larb chicken salad. My favorite was the larb chicken salad and they were able to accommodate me when I requested the "spiciest" they can do for the dish. Lo and behold, each bite was stinging with Thai chili peppers, yum! The papaya salad was a little strong on the fish sauce flavor and my friend couldn't finish it because of that. Tried it and agreed that it definitely was pretty strong on the fishy side. Think a good thing to note is that next time when people are ordering certain dishes, to help clarify if they want it Thai or Laos style as she was expecting that dish to be Thai style. Overall, the service was really good. We were the only two dining and needed constant refills of water (considering how I was eating a spoonful of Thai chili peppers in every bite) and they were happy to accommodate. My second favorite Thai spot in this area. Up until today, I had only ever had their chicken pad thai. Generally I am not a fan of this dish (too sweet, too bland), but Sabaidee does it well. There's a different flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I dig it. Be careful with the dishes indicated as spicy. When they say spicy THEY MEAN IT. Holy cow my mouth is on fire... But the good kind of fire. Ordered the spicy basil fried rice and drunken noodles today. Both were great and will be added to my lunch rotation here. For those that complain about the price for quantity... I don't understand. Lunch prices are $8 and dinner prices are about $10. I think too many people are accustomed to "American portions" - where you pay $10 for three days worth of preservative-laden, greasy slop. I always order pho with a side of sticky rice. It's so delicious! Especially on a cold or rainy day or both! The small bowl serving sz is huge. I gave this place one star because of their terrible customer service and not honoring what they say! A week ago my coworkers and I ordered Kao Poon, one with chicken and the other with shrimp. Both were delivered with no meat. We called them and they said next time we order that they would comp us our order. We called today instead of ordering online to receive our credit, they stated that because we ordered over the phone they were going to charge us a $10 delivery fee. That defeats the purpose of getting a credit. The person on the phone was trying to be nice as we were, but you can clearly hear the owner yelling and being rude. It's sad because we really like their food, but won't be bringing our service to business owners that don't honor what they say. They lost many customers! In response to the owner's response: Thank you. For proving, yet again, that you are not a stand up business and are instead deciding to engage in a dispute with paying customers. Great restaurant! I was bummed when Golden Phoenix closed, (they previously occupied this location) as they were the only place in Ceres that offered Chinese food above buffet quality. Then Sabaidee arrived and I was thoroughly impressed. In fact it's some of the best Thai food in the Modesto area. The restaurant itself is not a looker... It lacks ambience so if that's what you look for then don't bother coming. Unlike other reviewers, I don't care that it's located next to a liquor store... It's all about the food and the service and sabaidee does a tremendous job. This is about the 6th time I've eaten at this establishment and I've never had a bad experience. My only concern is that Ceres residents don't appreciate foreign cuisines unless it's Mexican food and so it's hard for restaurants such as this to stay afloat... The Thai beef salad was not made correctly according to the recipe posted in the description on the menu. They didn't add mint and that's one of the main flavors that make it what it is. I was extremely disappointed. I also ordered some fresh spring rolls with chicken. They were sloppily thrown together and most of the rice wraps were ripped so all the stuff inside just fell out. Got some Hawaiian fried rice (which is basically pineapple fried rice), it was bland and didn't have peanuts or cucumber. I'll never order here again. read more

My friend and I ordered a couple of thai iced teas, chow mein, and mongolian beef. The waiter screwed up the order and brought out kung pao chicken instead of mongolian beef... I don't know how you can get those two orders mixed up. It wasn't as if the place was busy either because we were the only customers there. Saw the sign "PHO" and wanted to try this place. The Pho was very good, fragrant and delicious. A huge bowl for $6.95. A large assortment of sauces and chile was on the table and a plate of fresh veggies for the Pho included jalapenos, bean sprouts, romaine, lime, and cilantro. I would have liked a few fresh basil leaves, but it might not be available because of the season. I will definitely go again next time I am in the area for a Pho fix. read more

This is a small place in a strip mall. We thought we'd give it a try. I was very disappointed! The place is clean the service was great. But the food was awful. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. But I've never had green papaya salad with a dark sauce on it. When the waitress put it on the table there was a very noticeable smell of fish sauce. The salad lacked. It had no dried shrimp on it, had no green beans in it, it had no cilantro in it. And then we had a noodle soup that was very bland. The rice noodles were way over cooked. And in several spoonfuls had stuck together in a clump. We asked for lime and that helped. If we had any complaint it's that two of our dishes seemed very similar with the same veggies and flavors just different meats. But service was great and fast and the prices were good too. This place is really close to my house, so I decided to try it out one night. I did a take-out instead of a dine in, but it's an easy place to love. Place is clean, looks family-run. Of the things I ordered, I found that the Pad Thai is savory, but good; the Green curry is delicious (I prefer it with no meat and with extra vegetables) and kicks my butt in a good way; the Pad Eggplant is well made. I also ordered Egg rolls, but wasn't too impressed with them. I'd like to go back and try out other things, especially the seafood salads. After discussing with my wife, some of the food items seemed to be items purchased from Costco or another food service company versus fresh. Example: Orange chicken had a crust on it that reminded me of Costco's orange chicken. Carrots in the Black peppered shrimp were perfectly cubed like you see in a bag of frozen peas and carrots.
