Stillwell's is the best ice cream around. Every flavor I have got there is excellent. The staff is nice and the prices are good.

I stopped at Stillwells for a frappe and left pretty disappointed. The employee making it seemed annoyed and was complaining the whole time. The drink itself was only filled about 3/4 of the way and was so thick it broke my straw -- it was more like straight ice cream than a frappe. For the price, I expected much better. We go to Stillwell's all the time-my son and his friends love it. One day we were in the shop, and I saw their freezer with ice cream pies. I told my Dad about it and for my birthday he went to get one but they were out of the flavor he wanted. The person behind the counter was so friendly and offered to make one right then and there. That was a year ago and we've gone back for every family birthday since for one of their terrific pies. read more

I came to Yelp just for a phone number to call, and saw the 2 star overall rating. I've been going here for about 20 years and they do not deserve a 2 star rating. The people who come here every year, every week, are not adding their voices to Yelp and I wish they would. I've never had a rude employee. Most are high school or college age and go as fast and efficiently as they can in the face of large or small crowds and fully staffed or understaffed shifts. In my 20 years they've never gotten an order wrong with me, the servings are good, and the ice cream is always delicious. The only thing I could say about this place is when they are understaffed and the crowd is large, it takes a long time to get your order, but... duh! It's not the fault of those who took the shift that they are understaffed and the people are flocking for ice cream. I will never be impatient and rude if this happens. It wasn't as organized as I would like. I got blueberry pie ice cream. I expected it to be mixed. It was poorly mixed. It was mostly vanilla ice cream with a huge amount of crushed blueberry pie in the middle. And it wasn't frozen solid. Since this was in the winter I was very disappointed. A little surprised by so many negative reviews. I've been going to this shop for YEARS even when it was in its old location where a new (not as good at all) ice cream place is now. The portions are large, ice cream is always delicious, it's an ice cream shop run by teens .. I'm not sure what people expect when it comes to service, but I've never been mistreated by anyone. While test driving in my new ride through Plaistow on a warm and brisk April evening, I decided to stop for ice cream at Stillwell's Ice Cream (parlor), which is located in a long strip plaza (Domino's Pizza, Early Bird Cafe) along NH Route 125. The place was very busy and a bit crowded inside with a line out the door at 8PM on a school night. The line moved quickly. Stillwell's has over 50 flavors of Richardson's Ice Cream and several flavors of 95 percent fat free frozen yogurt. Soft serve with a few flavor burst options and dips are also available. They offer cones, cups, sundaes, shakes, slushes, frappes, floats, raspberry/lime rickeys, ice cream pie, whole cakes, frosted cupcakes, and hot dogs & chips. There's also a toppings bar (candies/nuts) for an additional $1.25. The place is bright and clean with a few tables inside to enjoy your treat. Since I just had dinner, I decided to get a slice of Ice Cream Pie ($3.25) topped with Peanut Butter Sauce and whipped cream for dessert. The staff did have some difficulty cutting the first slice out of the very frozen pie, I would have difficulty too. Nonetheless, I decided to get the ice cream pie slice to go and waited until the ice cream softened up while driving home. I enjoyed the pie slice an hour later with a mug of black coffee. read more

I never write reviews but tonight got me rethinking that:) Terrible customer service!!! They close at 9 we got there at 820, my boyfriend asked if the frappe machine was still on, she responded with "if you really want one well make it" acting as if they were closing in 5 minutes. Then once my boyfriend did order, the girl acted as if I didn't exist and said is that it after we told her one minute to see what we wanted. Then, the workers asked us if we wanted covers we said yes and they put one on my boyfriends and then the other girl asks me if I want one I say yes and instead of putting it on the Icecream she put it down on the counter. Definitely could have been better. i asked for a medium soft serve and they put something on the counter that looked like a kiddie melted ice cream. i assumed it wasn't mine since it looked so awful so I sat there waiting And then watched this kid pick off a candy from the ice cream that was still on the counter. The family had already had their ice cream for 15 minutes and I'm just sitting there. I went into the Stillwells in Hampton today and ordered an ice cream cone. When the girl that took my order reached over into the container to scoop the ice cream out, I immediately noticed that her extremely short shorts minus underware exposed a large part of her buttocks. I'm confused. I called to see if there were any special considerations regarding the pandemic. It rang for a long time and went to voice mail. The message said that call ahead/pay ahead was an option but do not leave your order on the recording. Then it beeped for my message. When I called back the same thing happened. I have eaten here many times because it is convenient. The service is spotty depending on who you get. It appears that there is no managerial supervision. The 1 star is for the flavor of the ice cream ONLY (which is Richardsons). Poor attitudes with the employees. They made 3 out of 4 of our orders wrong then gave an attitude when they had remake them. I think that their Blue Goo flavor has more vanilla icecream than blue goo. It lacks what it is advertised as which makes me mad. For the high price of icecream here i would hope that I get a reasonable amount of Blue Goo in my icecream. 3 stars because the other flavors are good. read more

This is by far my favorite ice cream place in the area! The portions are huge and prices are cheap. They have more than 50 flavors of Richardson's Ice Cream. In all honesty, I'd rather go there than make the drive all the way down to Middleton and pay more for smaller portions. I attended an event at the business next door to this establishment. I went over and bought a shake during the event. I sat on the bench and was screamed at because I happen to vape as well. I did notice that the owner did not yell at the women smoking cigarettes on her bench. This shop got an extra 30 customers if not 50 easily that night and should of appreciated the extra business instead of acting the way she did. I hope the store next to them holds weekly events because of the attitude. I will ABSOLUTELY BE spreading the word to all of the vaping community and I hope the rest of us all review this shop! The way the owners of the establishment next door handled this woman's attitude was wonderful because I definitely would not of dealt with her in such a nice manner. I'd previously given Stillwell's a 4-star rating, but I'm dropping it to 3. The reason is that they advertise a deal with a local pediatric dentist where patients get free ice cream for a year. A great way for the dentist to get repeat business, I'm sure. But they still have good ice cream, large portions (I usually can't finish a "kiddy" portion), and good prices, and they're open all year. read more

The kids working at this location lack enthusiasm entirely. I'm not expecting them to be rolling balls of sunshine, but courteous and not being openly unhappy to be there isn't that much to ask for. I frequent this location because it's quite close to my home, but I'm growing tired of their customer service and I think I'm going to the Beach Plumb from now on. I searched unsuccessfully to find a way to contact the owners and air my grievances, but they have absolutely no way to contact them excepting the store phone number. This evening, I went into the store to pick up some ice cream for myself and my partner, and entered the store directly behind a group of 4 people. While one employee took the order of the group in front of me, the other was finishing the couple in front of them. The girl finished taking the order of 4 items, and proceeded to start making it. The boy finished the ice creams for the couple, handing them to them directly next to me. There's no possibility that he didn't see me. However, rather than wait on me, he instead ignored me, and went and started helping the girl make the ice creams for the other order. Had he taken my order and started working on it, it may have taken a minute or two longer to finish the other order, but they wouldn't have blatantly ignored another customer. When I asked them to take my order, they were surprised and mildly offensive that I would ask for service. This incident isn't a huge deal, but it's aggravating and illustrates just how much they lack basic common sense and customer service skills. The one star is for the ice cream, but they don't make it, it's Richardson's, so it can be had elsewhere. read more

My grandson and I went to Stillwells in Plaistow tonight. To make a long story short he did not like his brownie Sunday and honestly I had the same and I didn't care for it either. Though I finished mine he refused to eat his he kept telling me "Nana I can't it doesn't taste right. When I finished we went up to the counter and I explained to the nice girl that he didn't like it and she offered him another and he said no thank you I'll just have a vanilla cone. Another young lady approached and said "we don't do that, there isn't anything wrong with the ice cream". She would not let the other young lady replace it with a cone. We go to Stillwell"s a lot because my family loves the icecream, however I need to mention that every time we go in the place isn't very clean. They clearly don't place much emphasis on cleanliness. One other complaint is when they close the sitting area early. I go there to sit and eat my icecream. I don't want to order an icecream and then have to sit in my car and eat it. I think the sitting area should be open as long as the restaurant is open. I probably will find another icecream place that is cleaner and more accomadating. read more

Got ice cream with family last night. They messed up the same ice cream twice.... Got home to realize my ice cream was completely wrong and covered in hot fudge and peanut butter.. Diabetes in a cup. Can't go wrong with Richardsons and the soft serve is the best.........however, worst system for any ice cream place around, usually no more than 2 people working with lines out the door, bogged down with credit card transactions, and waiting on 1 person at a time, figure a 20 minute wait each visit. Travel over to Biggarts in Haverhill for same ice cream and a full staff of help with multiple windows. Ice cream should be a fun experience, you'll be stressed by the time you get to the counter. read more
