My friend and I stopped at Stingray's Friday evening as we were in town for the Cowboys vs Saints game on Sunday. I love Fried Soft Shell Crabs, but usually most places are a little too heavy on the salt and I can't fully enjoy them the way I like. Before I ordered the Soft Shell Crab platter, I asked the waiter (who was amazing but I have forgotten his name...sorry) if they were already preseasoned. He wasn't sure but would ask the chef if they weren't already seasoned to be extra light on the salt. When my Soft Shell Crab Platter came out, it was PERECT!!! The Chef seasoned it just right for me and I devoured every single bite!!! Thank you for the extra care you took to prepare my meal just perfectly. If you like fresh seafood and good service - this in of the places to go. Very friendly staff and just an open family atmosphere. Customers seem to blend in as one big group. The seafood is fresh and prepared just right. The decor is very basic but comfortable. Dress is very casual. I had the fried catfish and oysters while my wife had the pecan crusted catfish. We were both very pleased with the quality, flavor and certainly with the quantity. They do not hold back and they want to make sure that you leave with a full stomach. This was my first time ever eating here but probably my last. I absolutely loved the food but my waitress was not so pleasant. I smelled alcohol all over her breath. I ate there on yesterday and overall the place looked nice but my server, I believe her name was Becky, she was drunk. How couldn't the male manager not notice. She shouldn't be working there at all while drunk. Now I can't say anything negative about the restaurant itself but she will definitely drive away a lot of guest with her breath smelling like complete alcohol as though she was drinking on the job or drinking before work I just know for sure she was drinking and the smell was strong. We loved eating there last year and were excited to go back. However last night, April 25, 2019, a Thursday was horrible. The food came in no order and in bits and pieces. The crawfish stunk and tasted like they re-boiled them from an earlier time in same dirty water. The sauces were good but we had nothing to eat with them....The calamari was a pile of hard fried crumbs and the onion mum thing had raw flour in the middle and was hard to break apart. My sister said her steamed crab legs were good but they didn't look good. All and all I was even sick this morning and it could have been from those 2 rotten crawfish I ate. I will never go back and I don't recommend this place. It seems they are poorly manage and too expensive to take another chance. We even told the waitress, she said she was new, she never reported it to no one. It also took over an hour to get any food. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to when we visit New Orleans. It is a little out of the way but worth the drive. If you are going or coming from the airport then it is close enough for a visit. We love the appetizers when we eat there. The fried eggplant and marinara is awesome. This past Saturday I had one of their Crabby Mary's and it was delicious and very creative. I highly recommend this restaurant. Ask for Becky, she is a server that can't be beat! read more

As always the food, service & ambiance is fantastic. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection, plated beautifully & the portions are huge & almost always leave plenty of leftovers. The Chicken Parmesan is my all time favorite & the crawfish here is some of the best in the area. I recommend this restaurant to everyone because they have a selection that could satisfy almost every craving whether it's seafood, pasta or just traditional American food. I came upon Stingrays through a recommendation for gumbo from a local. It was a Sunday afternoon so they weren't very busy. I saw the reviews right before entering so i wasn't expecting much but I was wrong. The waitress and busboy were attentive. I ordered the fried crawfish platter and the serving was more than enough. My husband is a seafood lover so i took him here for his birthday. This was our first visit and I pleased. The food was good. My favorite was the stuffed jalapeños. Extra hot. We shared the Captain Sal's Platter which contains a crab cake, fish, shrimp, and oysters. This platter is large enough for 2 people to share. My husband had the stuffed mushrooms. He said they were the best he ever had. All i can say is they were huge. Never seen them that size before. Also, with your platter you get to choose 2 sides. OMG!!! Today was my first time at Stingray's. One word: delicious!!! The menu is huge, with a variety of dishes. For an appetizer, we had the Crawfish Taylor: fried pastry shell with fried crawfish tails covered in this spicy cream sauce. Definitely not the dish if you're dieting, but worth breaking your diet for! Entrees: I had grilled catfish platter: 2 large filets of catfish grilled with this garlic-lemon-butter sauce! (has the same flavor as Dragos charbroiled oysters, which if you haven't had those, you should!) with a side of baked mac and cheese which was very creamy & cheesy! My boyfriends entree: Crawfish Boudreaux: pasta with crawfish smothered in that same cream sauce that was on the appetizer, so yummy! Everything had a great flavor and was far from bland. A must-try! Absolute trash. Just left there 10 minutes ago and the entire experience was a disaster. I'd give this no stars if I could. The atmosphere was terrible, as one table in particular had about 15 people all competing who could be the most obnoxious and created an environment where one person was talking over the other person who was talking over someone else. This party was also filled with drunkards who would get up, bump into tables, and dance around. The best part was management did not say a word to them, nor did they apologize to surrounding tables on their behalf. We sat there for 50 minutes after ordering with just our drinks before our appetizer, the char-grilled oysters arrived at the table. 3 of the 12 we ordered were burnt and not salvageable, and the oysters that were edible were small and had no taste whatsoever. The breading around the oysters was larger than the actual oysters. Compounding the issue, our entrees arrived shortly thereafter, when we were in the middle of trying to eat what we could of our appetizer. I ordered the grilled chicken pasta, and the other 2 people in our party had shrimp pasta and the seafood platter. The pasta - if you can call it that - was just unseasoned noodles covered with a disgusting, gelatinous gravy that literally wiggled. I shaved an inch of the slop off the top before I could even see the noodles, which not surprisingly were ice cold. I took one bite, and when our waitress, who was obviously in over her head, stopped by and asked if everything was alright I said no. Then she also asked if I wanted a to go box, to which I also replied no - which to any seasoned service industry employee should indicate something was wrong. Instead of asking why the food remained uneaten or why I wasn't alright, the waitress simply said "okay", and took my plate away. The shrimp pasta also went uneaten, and the seafood platter was more like a bread platter. Garbage, the lot of it. To top it off, we also ordered a half of a fried fish po boy which never came. Our bill, for one appetizer, three entrees, 2 beers, and a sweet tea came to over $80. Low class food, high class prices. Never again. Wouldn't feed it to my dogs. read more

Sal platter and the portion size is generous but there is some type of seasoning that they use and at first isn't bad but after eating a few pieces of the fried seafood it becomes over whelming. The waitress was not bad. The food was horrible. We have had snow crab at many restaurants, these were the worst, impossible to peel. I had a shrimp pasta that I ordered spicy. It came out caked thick with crushed red pepper. I love super spicy food, I have sent back food maybee twice in my 48 yrs, this dish was not edible. After bringing this to the attention of the manager, he lectured me on crushed red pepper and said I still had to pay for it. So I had to pay for a meal that I did not eat or would even feed to a starving dog. The cook, fail. The management, major fail. We will never be back. read more

Some of the worse service I've ever experienced. The bartender we had quit during the middle of our meal and the manager on duty visibly looked as if she hated everyone and everything. On top of all that, they decided they weren't doing drink specials during our meal too after we had been given drink specials before the meal. I've given this place a few tries and was disappointed every. single. time. Poorly managed and I just can't recommend this place to anyone for any reason, other than the steak and lobster special on Tuesdays. Walked in, waited at hostess stand for 5 minutes while all the staff just looked at us, so me and my fiancé decide, let's just go sit at the bar. We sit at the bar for about 10 minutes and the bartender avoids any possible eye contact. No "hi we will be right with you" or "What can I get you guys to drink" @ all....idk if it was a race thing with us being black but i have no idea what else it couldve been....Won't ever go back and I will definitely let everyone know about this experience! read more

I was actually thoroughly surprised with the quality of Stingray's after reading so many bad reviews. I went with my coworkers - party of 8, please! We first shared the crabcakes, fried calamari, and fried pickles. While I don't eat crabcakes, the calamari and the fried pickles are delicious. It must be their batter because I fried shrimp and fish for my entree, and that was good, as well. Their baked macaroni is amazing; I could come here and just eat that. The prices are a little high, but the portions are huge. The service is average. I would definitely come here again...probably just for work lunches, though, because I never come to Kenner. read more

I was seated right away, but it took time for a waitress to come to the table. She took my drink order and seemed to take forever to come back with my drink. I even thought of leaving because it took a bit. Anyway I stayed and ordered. My food did not take too long to come out and it was pretty good. It had a bit too much sauce for my liking so I only ate a little bit but it had a nice flavor. The waitress never came back to check on me. I asked for a box, and I figured she would bring the box and check. Not so. I kept waiting for her to bring the check and was about to get up and go to the bar when someone asked if I needed something.
