There are no words to describe how impressionable the hostess, Olivia, is!! Honestly, I spent several years working in the F&B industry, and I've never met anyone that does it better than her! She takes a very formal and sophisticated setting and makes you feel right at home, it truly is something special. I hope she's training every hostess at Stirrups because she truly sets the tone for an incredible evening to remember! After Olivia gave us a warm welcome, she handed us over to our server, Kevin. These two are the dynamic duo because Kevin gives you that feeling that y'all have been longtime friends and you just haven't seen one another in a while. He will patiently go through any questions you have about the menu, and he will let you know his recommendations if you need it (which I did). Kevin was exactly right, our menu selections were exceptional! I had the scallops, which were TO DIE FOR! I have never had a chef put the perfect about of charring on a scallop like they did at Stirrups; it was the most perfect golden/brown color. They were amazing, and the best I have ever had (I lived on the beach for 15 yrs of my life by the way..). My fiancé had the NY strip and the creamed corn. He LOVED the strip and said the flavor was fantastic! The creamed corn is by far our favorite side dish we have tried at Stirrups. The bacon gives it the perfect balance with the salty and the sweet from the cream and corn. You will truly be missing out if you do not get the bread pudding and a slice of pecan pie for dessert. Just ask Olivia if she can roll you out, I'm sure she can find a wheelchair or a wheelbarrow...it might be embarrassing, but it is WORTH IT! That is the BEST bread pudding I have ever had in my entire life! I'm allergic to nuts, but my fiancé devoured the pecan pie, and he said it was excellent! This is my second time having the pleasure of soaking in all that Stirrups has to offer. The first time I walked into the restaurant I was mesmerized by all of the beautiful chandeliers and the unique wall art. They definitely hit the mark with their elite dining experience. Our two favorite appetizers were the pimento cheese and then the deviled eggs. Their spin on these otherwise mundane sounding items will leave you wondering why you've never had it this way before! Delicious both times we've had them. Now let me tell you about the tomahawk! If your a meat lover or know someone who is, this will be beyond impressive! Very appealing presentation and the taste was absolute perfection! I'm in love! My husband got the cowboy cut steak. If you haven't heard of it before, it's because it's hard to find. After sampling a bite, it was even harder not to love! There is so much about this place that we enjoy, including the wonderful staff that make this entire experience possible. First visit to Stirrups and it was an amazing experience. We were celebrating a birthday and they made it a wonderful treat by making it so special and being so pampered. AJ and Natasha were or personal servicers. I can't say enough about how attentive and friendly they were. Everyone pitched in. Other servers came to our table to fill water glasses, remove dishes, etc., but AJ and Natasha were over the top. The menu had many selections. We had fried green tomatoes for a starter, shrimp and salmon for entrees, both with special garnish and sauces, creamed spinach, delicious biscuits and sweet roll with homemade butter and blueberry jam. All served with elegance and beautifully prepared. We highly recommend Stirrups. Thank you for a wonderful evening. read more

First of all beautiful hotel, restaurant and equestrian center, no expense was spared!!! Went on Memorial day for dinner, listened to an excellent electric violinist by the outside arena where others were enjoying drinks. Walked the lobby and enjoyed the 100's of dog portraits hanging on the walls. Got a drink at the Yellow Pony and then headed over to Stirrups. Our waitress Jordyn was great and helpful in choosing our dinner selections. Our two guests ordered drinks and my wife and I a bottle of wine. Guest's drinks took 15+min. to arrive at the table and the wine didn't get to the table for 30 minutes. Something about the manager had to get it from the wine room. Dinners all were delicious, Swordfish, Filet Mignon, Pork and Salmon. Gouda Au Gratin Potatoes (Yummy). Brussel sprouts (no redeeming qualities) very bland. Ancient grains carrot salad was delicious, deep complex flavors, I split it with my wife and wished I got my own. House steak sauce was also very good. After saying all this realize that they have only been open two weeks and are still figuring things out. The issue with the drinks was very annoying and we were told the manger was made aware, but she never made it to our table to offer an explanation. If they're getting drinks for restaurant guests from the Yellow Pony that's going to be a problem when they are busy and they were that day. I'm sure things will get more streamlined over time. First time, July 30, 2022. Mixed feelings. All food was excellent, but certain bar issues were troubling. I ordered a Maker's Mark, Manhattan-up with ice on the side. I got a shot of Maker's mark (neat). There was no vermouth in it. Re-ordered and was brought a 1/3 filled Manhattan glass and was charged "1 Makers Mark $12.00 , $Neat $4.00, 6 oz- Ice on side". I ordered a bottle of Malbec. After I sampled and approved, all four glasses at the table were poured! I was not asked who was to get the wine. Very embarrassing, and awkward, but too late to say anything. Asked about sharing policy. Was told $5.00 if done in the kitchen, none if we split ourselves. Since our Porterhouse was served sliced from the kitchen, there was no split charge. On bill "$5.00 Split" charge. Wife liked the Smoked old fashioned and actually got a full glass. read more

We went there with another couple to celebrate our anniversaries. We had reservations and they called us to let us know the dress code was corporate casual. We were really looking forward to trying out this highly rated restaurant. For the price, their food was mediocre at best. Then to top everything off, three ladies were seated next to us dressed in T-shirts, two with blue jeans and one in shorts along with their non-service dog. When you receive a call from the restaurant specifically telling you how to dress and they seated people who did not meet their requirements along with a dog, this is not acceptable. Overpriced for what it is. The servers are polite but lack the polish/professionalism to justify the price point, especially in the Ocala market. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the food on the regular brunch menu is very good. However, both the Easter and Mother's Day brunches were disappointing. The food presentations are well done (especially the ice sculpture for the Mother's Day seafood display) but service falls short and the traffic flow of the buffet stations is abysmal. Every station is a bottle neck and poorly laid out. Operationally, the team obviously struggles to turn over the restaurant efficiently in between seatings. Staff can be seen running and rushing to vacuum, reset tables, etc. and forcing everyone to crowd in the hallway outside the locked restaurant door is just not appropriate. At $89 per person, there should be at least one drink included and not a full sales pitch about the cash bar. We don't drink alcohol and the server had little interest in taking our drink order, lest she forget her talking points about the aforementioned bar. I had to ask her three times not to leave the table before taking our order for coffees and soft drinks. If we were at Cracker Barrel, no big deal, but not for $100 per person once you add tax and the automatically included gratuity. At that price point, the execution should be flawless from start to finish, and Stirrups has a long way to go. read more

I'm not certain where to start but from the beautiful setting, smiling welcome and incredible service from Lisa and Sarah the entire evening was a treat! Our foursome had shared appetizers that set the tone and expectations. We ordered steaks and fried chicken individually and our "foodie" friends declare it was the best fried chicken EVER. This from a southern born and raised gal who knows fried chicken from many kitchens. We happened to choose an evening where there was no event but I can only imagine what a fabulous experience that would be. Oh, we were early for dinner so stopped in the Yellow Pony for drinks - the bartender is delightful, helpful and fixed some unique drinks - introduced me to lavender rosemary gin tonic, OH MY! Anyone coming to Ocala for the evening should definitely go the the Equestrian just to see the lobby and gallery then into Stirrups. read more

We went with another couple right after the opening in early May. Food and service were good. We spilt the bill in half and left. I checked the receipt and notice one bottle of wine ordered was 3.5X more than the other identical bottle. Both had twist off caps so not real expensive. I didn't order the wine so confirmed it was an overcharge. The other couple went back and talked to the manager Heidi in person and she said it was a mistake and she would get a credit issued. It's been two months and multiple follow ups and still no credit for the $110 overcharge. Not the way to run a good business and keep customers! read more

Stirrups is a beautiful, elegant restaurant with the best service I have received at any restaurant. Staff was very knowledgeable and very attentive and we enjoyed the dining experience very very much! We were so excited to dine there! However, the food was very lacking ..especially for the exorbitant prices. The ribeye apparently used to be bone in which is what we expected but they no longer serve it that way. Our steak was prepared wrong and we had to send it back. The second steak was so tough we could hardly cut it but we didn't send it back as we were just trying to enjoy our meal as much as possible. The mashed potatoes had no flavor at all, the grits were undercooked and the pecan pie also was dry and did not have much flavor. We loved the breads, and the shrimp cocktail and wedge salad were excellent. IF we do dine again, we will definitely choose something other than steak and the potatoes. read more

If you are in the Equestrian Hotel, you must go to this place for dinner! If you come here, you MUST ask for Lisa! Not only was the food spectacular and so wonderfully executed, but the service from Lisa was 10/10. From the exquisite cocktails, to the scrumptious oysters and superb scallops, I could not have been more pleased with my experience. I was so pleased that I just had to have dessert and let's you say, you will never taste a bread pudding like the one made here! So delicious! Elegantly decorated restaurant with nice menu variety. We started with the Fried green tomatoes on a bed of pimento cheese spread and chow chow. The tomatoes had the tang and bite as green tomatoes should, but a little too thick for our taste and felt it could be elevated with a little dipping sauce. The she-crab soup was delicious, with just a slight spicy kick. My husband had the pork chop that was a thick chop with crispy exterior. It was recommended by one of our waiters Terrill (SP) to have it good medium. We did as he suggested, but the chop was a bit dry. I had the 6 oz tenderloin requested it medium rare, but it came out very rare. Flavor wise, it was underwhelming and not very warm. I much prefer the way steaks are prepared and presented at Ruth Chris'. The waiter did offer to have it refired or for us to take it home, but we declined. The shared sides are large. The asparagus was slightly underdone and the sweet potatoe gratin was very salty and rich with the bechamel sauce. The smoked old fashion was presented in a cloche filled with smoke, beautiful presentation. The soup and old fashion were the two dining highlights. We arrived 25 minutes early with a 5:30 reservation and the hostess acted a little put out that we were early. The dining room had only contained about 5 parties at that time. She did seat us early. Stirrups is an amazing restaurant. I have been multiple times and have been satisfied every single time. My most recent time I got Dioniso (Dio) as my waiter. He has become my favorite waiter I have ever experienced. He took time to know my name and know me as a person. He went over the menu thoroughly and made suggestions as I could not decide. I decided to take his suggestion of Maple Brined Duroc Pork Rack. It was absolutely amazing. He continued to provide amazing service the entire night. Was excited to go somewhere with a dress code. Got there early went to the horse shoe bar place, dogs inside. Went into the actual restaurant, folks in jeans and t-shirts and another dog. Not service dogs mind you, actual pets. Food was atrocious for what they are trying to be.
