I finally got to check out STK's happy hour via a Bumble IRL dating event! The STK staff was so kind and accommodating. The cocktails were absolutely delicious and the small bites were delicious. The salmon ceviche was extremely fresh and I kept indulging in it! My friend and I enjoyed the sliders but raves about the steak quesadillas. They were so delicious and truly have no words for how yummy they were-- highly recommend! The vibe in the cocktail area was perfect for this event. Waited almost 2 hours for a table with a reservation on Christmas Day with antsy hungry children. We arrived at 5:30 for a 5:45 reservation and did not sit down until 7:25. To make matters worse, the waiting area was so crowded, shoulder to shoulder. Waiters and hostesses can barely get by. This is completely unacceptable. People have been left with no choice but to wait because it's Christmas and everything is closed. They obviously double, maybe even triple booked. Nobody wants to spend their Christmas like this. Finally seated 2 hours later and there's a limited menu for Christmas. I asked if the salmon was unavailable since it wasn't on the menu. The waitress checked and confirmed that they could make it for me. After an hour of waiting, they came out with sea bass saying the salmon wasn't available. I don't even eat sea bass. You'd think they would come out and check to see what I wanted since my original option wasn't available. They were able to bring me out roasted chicken instead maybe 10 minutes later. Overall, the food was mediocre at best. $600 later, plus valet with 2 hours added on for waiting, I'm completely turned off. I don't think I'll ever visit STK again. Horrible experience. read more

We came as a group and were all required to order the bottomless brunch, yet instead of receiving individual plates, we were forced to share small portions off crowded serving trays. The table was already tight, and having to pass around shared plates made the experience feel chaotic and uncomfortable--not upscale or enjoyable. The server didn't explain how the bottomless brunch worked, and items were not replenished as promised. When we requested refills, only select items were brought back--some never returned at all. Considering the restaurant wasn't busy and we were among the first guests seated, the lack of attention and poor service was unacceptable. With so many other brunch options in the area that offer a more polished, individual experience, it's hard to justify coming back. First impressions are lasting--and unfortunately, this one ensures we won't return. read more

We're back, have many years hiatus and in a different city. This restaurant is focused on its vibe and environment, the bathroom not so much. It is straight back from the hostess stand so relatively easy to find. Men's and women's are right across from each other. When we pointed out the discrepancy, the servers and management deflected all responsibility, claiming it was a "corporate website error." It is unprofessional for a high-end steakhouse to blame their own branding for misinformation provided to guests. We unfortunately stayed to eat, but the food only made matters worse: * 12 oz Ribeye: Tough and underwhelming. * Happy Hour STK Burger: The meat was incredibly hard to chew and tasted old/over-aged. I went here with my family to celebrate my grand daughter's birthday. The soft lighting was great not too bright but not too dark either. The music wasn't exactly something I listen to but the younger crowd enjoyed it. I appreciate it wasn't very loud that we couldn't have a conversation. My mom and hubby split a tomahawk steak and I enjoyed a filet; both with garlic butter. The filet was cooked perfect to my ask of medium well. Juicy, flavorful and seared perfectly. Only problem was that the tomahawk steak was undercooked and rare. We waited about 20 minutes as our server was nowhere in sight. My hubby had to go ask for help. A girl from behind the bar came and took the steak to be cooked further. We waited an additional 25 minutes with no action. The manager just so happened to be walking by and we explained our issue. He brought us the steak back right away and with fresh sides. It was very confusing because we were seated by the hostess who asked for our water order, then came another male server that came to take our water order, then we didn't have any water served. The kitchen staff brought out the wrong order so the benedict came out and then we had to wait about 10 minutes for the other entree. It seemed like they made the same mistake with the table next to ours. The manager came out and apologized, which was appreciated. The pork belly Benedict was really good!! The pork was so flavorful. I really wish I could say one constructive thing about STK but I just can't; this restaurant blew my expectations away with their incredible dishes, drinks, service, atmosphere, and inside decor. The ceiling is a wave-like pattern and it's beautiful to look at, especially for the first time. It's a spacious place with many rooms and lots of seating. Its luxurious and sleek decor makes this restaurant perfect for nicer occasions. Some of my favorite things were the Lil BRG's (wagyu beef mini sliders), calamari, filet mignon, miso glazed Chilean sea bass, and mushroom & truffle tagliatelle. You could really taste the quality in each meal here, from the thick cut and neatly stacked parmesan truffle fries, to the perfectly crisped seabass lied atop a bed of flavorful bok choy. The Cucumber Stiletto cocktail was my favorite; so refreshing, strong, and just the right amount of sweet. Needles to say, I'll be coming back here again. The crab cake was black around the edges and not in a classy charred way - in a oh no that one got burnt on top send it out let's see if it comes back. My boyfriend's steak was over cooked. My braised beef was dry as ever. They served the driest lobster mac with like 4 pieces of lobster and with a regular dinner fork as the serving utensil. The menus were folded copy paper! We didn't bother taking anything home or seeing whatever store bought cake they'd have. If it weren't for my boyfriend requesting we leave quietly after paying - I'm not sure I could've held it in at all. So I'm here to share with you all and hopefully the restaurant reads this. Adding a star because it's restaurant week and I'm sure aside from not making a ton of money off of it, they're making the same dish over and over. So I'll cut them a little slack. But can I just say this experience alone makes me not want to step foot in an STK again? I think the best part of dinner was maybe the bread and butter, the potatoes that came with the steak, and the ice cream on the dessert. Restaurant week menu: tuna tartar tacos (eh, wasn't that bad), skirt steak (absolute disappointment! It was really nice looking, first few bites were good, but about halfway through each bite turned into mush...like if I was eating play dough. I gag thinking about it), and apple crumble (zero taste. I've never had apples that taste like nothing. The ice cream was ok). The server was sweet, but she forgot to bring us stuff like silverware and ketchup, but at least she didn't have an attitude and always had a smile on her face. Which is pretty typical for restaurants nowadays. Once seated they ask for drinks, of course everyone started with water. You get a choice of tap, bottled, or sparkling, we opted for bottled! I also got a glass of champagne, because I'm the birthday girl duh! Appetizers we ordered Oysters and calamari. The oysters were very fresh and yummy, the calamari was good too! My friend gave me a ticket I could use at the restaurant to order free rounds of champagne for my party. I think she got this because she was inconvenienced the last time she ate there with her boyfriend. It was a nice touch to the whole dinner. I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was very tasty and tender. Very easy to cut. One of my friends was vegan and was a good trooper about the limited food options. The steak was great but inferior (quite fiber-y) compared to Gibsons and Swift and Sons, which is around this price. The sides were okay, perhaps over salted in our opinion. The bread however is free and is absolutely sublime. The vibe is definitely modern, chic, and vibrant, which I enjoyed. Around 9p, the severs all walk around with sparklers! The service was also excellent. However, this does not quite compensate for the prices, especially the wine list where some 50$ wines are being sold for 200$+ / bottle. Also, I left a message via their website with a quality control issue. We found a piece of plastic in our food. It has been close to 2 weeks, and they have not yet responded to my message. Disappointing. This is not an issue with the Chicago location, but suggestive of an issue with the HR of their national org.
