My husband and I dined here last night. We are people who have dined at many fine steakhouses not only in Oak Brook and Chicago but across the country. Based on these experiences, I can say with confidence that STK is very overpriced. I'll give some examples for anyone interested. Compare their $21 sides (that's every side on the menu) against Gibson's $12-$16. Desserts - Gibson's Ice Cream Macadamia Turtle pie is $26 vs. the cloud cake at STK which was $27. If you know that pie, you know it's gigantic. The cloud cake, not so much. I'll take this one further. We recently dined at the brand new Bourbon Steak in the Dolphin hotel at Disney World. For comparison, their sides are all $15 except for the truffle Mac which is $17 (of course, truffles!). But people, this is DISNEY. I can literally walk out the door and stroll to EPCOT in less than 15 minutes. STK in Oak Brook has no business being more expensive than this. In case anyone is wondering, the sizes of the sides on all of these examples are comparable - in fact, we felt like the STK sides were on the small side. And we're using the cost of the sides to demonstrate the pricing of each restaurant overall. That said, steak prices are pretty comparable across the board but you can see the uncharging that's going on with the sides - and this is true for the cocktails, the appetizers, and the desserts as well. Also, you should note that STK does not list their prices on their website menu - every one of these other restaurants does. So that's a little suss. But I'm giving you the prices we paid yesterday - could those change in the future? Possibly I suppose. Pricing aside, STK is very much a club atmosphere. Not what we were expecting for a "fine dining" steak house. If this is your vibe, you will love it here. DJ and loud music throughout the evening (our reservation was at 7:45pm). However, this was not for us, as we prefer the bustling but more traditional atmosphere at Gibson's, Capital Grille and Perry's. Also, just for a good laugh, I was carded at the table for my cocktail. I'm 54. Mind you, I think I look pretty good for my age, but there's no way I look under 30. I'm not really sure what that was about. The waiter said they card everyone ordering alcohol but I can tell you I didn't see anyone else in the restaurant getting out their ID. In truth, I was flattered, but I do find it a bit odd so had to mention. Also, if they really are carding everyone, that's just stupid and off-putting when out for a dinner like this. (PS - my husband offered up his ID after this even though he wasn't explicitly asked.) On the positive side - the food was really good. Steak was cooked perfectly, corn pudding was fire, the bacon appetizer and cheesesteak egg rolls were delicious. Cocktails were pretty good, small pours for the price, but we enjoyed them. We did bring our own wine, which you can do for a $45 corkage fee. Service was ok - waiter was professional and friendly, but not very attentive. I had to ask someone else to have my water refilled after it sat nearly empty for half an hour and our dessert was very late. I will give lots of credit to the manager. We noticed her checking in with every table, including ours. She took care of our dessert once she heard it was so delayed and took it off our bill. We really appreciated that. Overall, I would not return here for dinner. With so many other well established steakhouse options steps from this place with great food at better prices in a nicer atmosphere, I see no reason to. But if a club vibe is your jam, go for it. Just bring your wallet. And maybe your ID. read more

I know they're new and really wish them well but oakbrook is saturated with restaurants and being outside the main mall area does not make it attractive. While the inside I thought was sleek and modern, the restaurant was mostly empty when I came for a late lunch on a Wednesday. I sat at the bar and ordered their "quick lunch for $45". The Caesar salad, nothing special. Ironically it came before I even received my silverware. Just standard taste. 6 ounce filet good, but when the bartender asked if I wanted truffle butter I said sure, but then never told me it's $12 extra dollars. It woulda been nice to know. Then while having only 2 other customers at the bar, I ran out of my iced tea. So I literally started to chew on the ice until my refill came. The dessert was a cookie , kinda lame. So after my iced tea, the extra charge of truffle butter tip and tax, my "quick lunch" was close to $80..... did I leave kind of hungry , to be honest yes. I wouldn't come back for lunch, and not sure if id come back for dinner either. The value is just there nor is the service. While I was mostly on the phone , the bartender not once asked "how's ur day going". Or anything else engaging. Oh well. I saw they had a happy hour menu, but seeing how my first time experience went, I doubt I'll come back. read more

Visited the newly opened STK in Oakbrook and had mixed feelings overall. The space itself is definitely a highlight--very chic interior with a nice outdoor patio that feels perfect for summer. One downside right off the bat: there are two entrances, which made it a bit confusing to find where to check in. That said, the staff was friendly and quickly pointed me to the host stand. I ended up sitting at the bar, and the service there was great--attentive, welcoming, and probably one of the best parts of the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations, especially for the price point. The king crab ceviche lacked balance and felt off overall. The short rib fries were also a miss--the flavors didn't come together and the ingredients just didn't mesh well. I understand prices are up everywhere, but this felt excessive for what you get. At this point, it seems like the deals and promotions are what's keeping people coming in. I've visited other STK locations, including Chicago, and the brand has been disappointing regarding the food since Covid. However, this particular location, just having opened, was unexpectedly disappointing. read more

Had an amazing dinner at STK Steakhouse tonight. I had the ribeye steak with Yukon mashed potatoes and fried calamari, and my girlfriend had the ribeye spinalis -- both were absolutely incredible and cooked perfectly. The drinks completely stole the show though. The Unchained Passion martini was hands down one of the best cocktails I've had, and my girlfriend's Spiced Watermelon martini was just as impressive. You can tell a lot of care and creativity goes into their cocktails. Big shoutout to our bartender/server Brent for making the experience top tier. His recommendations were spot on, he was attentive the entire night, and honestly made us want to come back again soon. Everything he suggested ended up being amazing. When we arrived to check in for our 8pm reservation they said they checked us in and that it would only be a minute. 20 minutes goes by so we go up to check with them and the girl goes oh nobody actually checked you in its gonna be another little bit. no apology but okay fine. After another 15-20 minutes we were finally seated. so around 40 minutes after our reservation. When we finally ordered it was very underwhelming. The French onion soup was very good, the broccoli cheddar soup had a floury taste. The truffle bread was mid not very strong of a truffle flavor. When we finally got our steak it was okay. For the price I would expect better. The steak needed salt which we had to ask for, one side was a little tough and the other side was not. The scallops were excellent cooked perfectly the texture was a little bouncy not overcooked. read more

Jesus and Daniel made us feel at home! As soon as we walked in we felt welcome and they explained the menu, and even asked for our allergies! Appreciate it! We didn't even know it was happy hour and a lot of places try to hide it so we can order from the original menu but he let us know until what time and made us more excited! He even told us about his rewards program and let me tell you, I will be back thanks to them! I was not onboard stk since I had bad experiences at the one in Chicago but the one in oakbrook is top notch!! This was our first time at this location and it was a great experience. Starting with our server Pearl "who's dad's name is Earl"! Right from the start Pearl was welcoming, pleasant and informative. She helped us decide what we really wanted on the menu and she was attentive and patience with us. Overall, I recommend this location...especially on a Sunday evening.
